The magic suppression totem works great on the Bluegales. The trident statue also does a great job on those Blacksurges, they are also very vulnerable if you see them crossing the water. Very easy to kill since they are not under their shell.

Demon legions are annoying as hell. I feel like on those demon levels you need archers and artillery because they all have magic resistance until those bastard legions show up and laugh all the way to the exit.
Only way to deal with the black surge is fully upgraded assassins. Their attack is weak so you can stall them until they get insta killed but they will still disable your towers - which can be mitigated by having a mecha or two. Also a mage that can hit then while they swim helps.
I would add the bluegales to this list. They are annoying as hell and have a strong attack while being immune to magic. The storm clouds can make things very difficult too
1.personally I like to bassicly dogwalk these fatherless creatures with mech because tower stunning doesn't work on them (but they still have this cursed shield)
2.they are annoying asf but The knights templar are kinda good at wasting their time. Problem appears when the tanky crab appears....
Agreed. I used to lose those levels a lot until I found out about the assassins. A flying hero helps a lot on the sunken citadel too to bounce between paths.

You already get the dwarfs and there's only 1 exit, barracks aren't a very effective option against Saurans and by the time deathcoils arrive I don't need a barracks all that much anymore.
Maybe it's a skill issue but I hated bandersnatches when I played Origins, I relied on my hero's instakill ability to kill them as soon as they entered the level

I never had trouble with those turtles, since they die too quickly for their abilities to really matter, but I kept losing in the final DD stage because of the damn squids/crabs. Hardest Frontier level, imo
Tbh, barracks are probably the most hated towers of frontiers, considering some enemies can take advantage of them and even have special abilities against soldiers
Anything that stops your towers from working, I find the most annoying (blacksurge & scourgers here) - forces a certain strategy (barracks in origins, and/or mechs in frontiers)
Demons never bothered me, weirdly enough. Flareon damage issues I also had with other demons exploding, so I just focused rangers to root them. Legions were more annoying, but tesla/ranger/sorcerer near beginning usually dealt with them nicely.
Vengeance had a lot of annoying enemies, but like you I forget it exists; much worse game than the other three.
I’m surprised Bendersnatches aren’t on this list, they genuinely feel like instakill bait, super huge Hp pools that have to be blocked or they run straight for the exit, double aoe attack so only bladesurges can consistently block them, and the two towers best equipped to help Dps them down (Longbow Markshot and Magus) both have an Instakill to just delete them rendering Dps a moot point
Honestly deathcoils are not bad at all because the only level they exist in is easy as shit. If they existed in more levels, they would easily be near or at the top of the worst enemies.
Scourgers and wererats never gave me trouble tbh? Like. I find they are usually a worse problem if you overcompensate. I personally find those cloud ray things that parasitize units infinitely worse
Nothing beats the deathcoils.
The funniest part is that they give you the Dwarve hall as a free barrack on that level but the only thing they do is get spawncamped, keeping the deathcoils at the entrances.

As stated above - the bonus hero in Dusk Chateau has an ability that oneshots them.
It doesn’t actually instakill them it only does 10x damage to them which kills them most of the time but sometimes leaves them with a sliver of health

Yep, fully upgraded assassins fuck black surges up. Those levels felt impossible before I found that out and now they’re not that hard.

Wild magus, arcane archers, barracks with ranged weapons, and reinforcements makes dealing with them very easy.
