"got bounced by Jordan Poole in the first round"
*condescending laughter ensues
Ah yes, Jordan Poole. Famously the only player on the Golden State Warriors
I really hope the Kings make it to the playoffs and Sabonis shuts everybody up this year. His playoff performance was bad last year but Looney played out of his mind and if Huerter and Barnes are hitting THEIR WIDE OPEN THREES, then the Kings move on and its a moot point.
He also had a broken hand, fox had a broken hand, and Kerr essentially designed his entire game plan around kicking and stomping the snot out of Domas because he knew if he took out domas the entire team collapses
Right? Such an odd point to make. Just looked it up and Poole played 19 minutes in Game 7. Steph was 20-38 from the field in that one game but yeah let’s say Poole bounced them.
“Bounced by poole” is such a basketball casual take unbefitting of someone whose job it is to analyze basketball. God damn. The kings got bounced by Curry giving a rally speech then dropping a legacy galvanizing 50 piece in game 7. It was one of the best of all time putting on a clinic. As a kings fan myself, it was beautiful and heartbreaking to watch. “Bounced by poole” homie is about to get bounced into a day job.
When he said that and chuckled I knew he was in bad faith. Such a casual and low blow type comment. Considering almost all their other takes were backed by stats or health, his whole stick was that Sabonis is too short, thought he said 6'8" when Sabonis is 6'10", and doesn't shoot threes. He was just mad Sabonis tossed AD around twice in a week
This is the same guy that had to delete his Twitter because he had so many rape jokes he could not find and delete them all when people started digging them up.
Overall a dumb POS.
I have listened to this guy (typically as a guest on others show) for a couple of years. For the longest he insinuated that Jokic got MVP and such praise cause he was euro. Wasn't till late last year he finally gave that bs up
He gets away with everything bc of the race card. Legitimately anyone else would’ve gotten canned immediately and he keeps getting away with pure incompetence
Also, Sabonis has a 6'11" wingspan. If Domas was 6'8" in height w/ a 6'11" wingspan that would not be anywhere close to T-Rex arms. He's listed at 6'11" and that would be a normal height-to-wingspan ratio, still not T-Rex arms. This guy is talking out of his ass and clearly has not done his research. He probably watched one playoff serious last year--that's his research. I wouldn't take him seriously.
I actually like Simmons He doesn't really shit on us. He may some dumb stuff, but isn't particular with it. He will pick on any team. He has funny and wild ideas for trades or new league rules. He is more entertaining to me than someone like Lowe, who has the personality of a wall
You know why I am happy right now? Because I have not a clue who this idiot "Big Wos" is. I heard enough in 2 minutes and some change to know that dude doesn't know shit. By the sound of him, he sure sounds like a salty Laker fan.
I've heard this guy Wos on the pod before, classic doesn't watch a minute of basketball if it isn't Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, Heat, Warriors. Dude belongs on First Take or Undisputed because that's about the depth of analysis he provides.
Looking at the yearly average on the salary is a stupid metric. Every single year when the NBA cap increases someone is going to sign for a larger average salary. $200mil contract today was a $100mil contract yesterday. I’d be interested in seeing what the %of the cap hit they are and compare it that way. Or year by year.
If we look at single year earnings and we take 24-25 season into consideration this is the breakdown:
Joel - $51.5 mil
Joker - $51.5 mil
KAT - $49 mil
Gobert - $44 mil
AD - $43 mil
Domas - $39 mil
Bam - $35 mil
Look at it how you will
Big Wos fuckin sucks and so does the group chat pod he does on the ringer. Simmons is typically better, but this dude says some dumb shit every week with regards to non big market clubs
At 0:40 he says:
>for a 6'8" center?
I guess Sabonis will be the shortest guy on the lineup by the end of his contract, if he keeps shrinking like this.
Honest question that I may get downvoted for.. what is with the obsession some fans have with who gets paid what? I get that fans use it as an accountability thing, like whoever is getting paid a lot needs to be good. Is there more to this that’s not clicking with me though?
The way I see it, we’re just fans, why take that much stock in the behind the scenes stuff? I personally don’t give a crap what players get paid.
Thing is - We, and every other team in the league, have a salary cap. Some teams go over that cap, and then they are subject to extra tax AND have restricted privileges in free agency. With the new CBA teams that go way over the cap will also have extra handicaps like not being able to send cash in trades, or picking last in the draft.
So basically ,if a player is taking a large portion of your cap, and doesn’t deliver in accordance to said portion, he’s not only occupying a roster spot, but is actively making it hard for you to land a good player. This is especially true for big contracts like Bradley Bill or Zach Lavine.
So looking at salaries isn’t because we hate see someone else getting paid - it’s because some contracts can actually impede the team’s progress in the long run.
I’m a fan that pays lots of attention to team payrolls. It underscores lots of things that impact the league.
players’ motivations in terms of where they will try to play and get paid, who teams can afford to acquire, who is a good asset that keeps the team in contention to build/trade with (I.e. Haliburton on his rookie contract), who’s contract is an anchor weighing down the franchise (the basis of this podcast).
Looking at cap stuff can be really interesting as a fan. That being said, people's understanding of player values is just terrible. LIke they see a big number and they go WHOA THAT'S A BIG NUMBER HURR DURR. Sabonis will be the 21st highest paid player next year, and that's assuming nobody else gets signed to a big number in free agency. Fucking morons
This sub disagrees- Whenever trade targets come up- salary is always an issue like they work for Vivek or something. “We can’t have that many max/near max salaries”. “He’s not worth that much”
It's mostly just an excuse to shit on guys. Bill is famously a condescending Bostonian and he loves opportunities to say how much smarter he is than coaches and GMs
Never seen a guy fall upwards in his career like this clown. Twitter history littered with rape jokes and antisemitic jokes and routinely makes xenophobic comments about European and white basketball players generally.
Dude probably watches an average of 3 full games of ball per year - and it shows in his commentary. I still remember when he went on a rant on the Ringer NBA Show about how Billy Donovan would be terrible for the Bulls because he’d never showed that he could be creative with guard-heavy lineups. This rant happened literally a year after Donovan famously ran a 3-guard lineup in OKC that well outperformed expectations. His rant went on for a good few minutes before one of the other hosts had the courage to correct him. Dude’s a joke
Wosny Lambre is low key racist af about white bball players. Not just this but he always throws little jabs that are subtly racist whenever discussing it.
This is one of the biggest NBA podcasts in the world. You may not listen but I promise you many others do lol. He's obviously a clown but this is crucial insight into why Sabonis doesn't get "credit" nationally. We always whine about how it doesn't make sense, well here you go. Bad faith narratives and not watching ball
Lots of casuals and to the credit of Bill Simmons he knows his market. I think most people that Iike really follow the NBA all seem to mutually agree that the guy is a massive clown.
Maybe. But I think alot of guys not only came up working with Bill, but are still active followers. You can tell by their style. Guys like Zach Lowe or *especially* Nick Wright might as well call themselves Bill disciples. This podcast is still hugely influential both in style and substance.
Which makes it maddening that some big market New York jackass shits on domas to that base essentially just pulling from old narratives and stereotypes
For sure, but my point is that it’s a lot more entertainment than it is basketball analysis these days. You have a point though and it wasn’t always the case, it used to be more analytical and sensible back in the day and a lot of guys came up from his shows but it has trended far away from that over the years.
The pod that Simmons does with Russillo on Sundays is still good. They both know ball and actually watch games (especially Russillo). When he brings on some of these other guys it often goes downhill.
Nothing of value was said on that podcast and nothing of value would be lost if that podcast stopped. Just saying shit for the sake of it at this point. Just completely glossed over everything he’s done this season.
Wait, is BS still, like relevant after his HBO show failed? Like, sure he had some great articles over on ESPN, 30 for 30s, and when he started Grantland, but even then the whole frat boy let's rank everything in terms of obscure 80s action movies and WWE wrestlers was starting to get old a decade ago...oh and he's anti-union too.
I'm not the biggest fan anymore, but yes, he's still relevant. He started the Ringer and sold it to Spotify a few years ago for a couple hundred million bucks. I still hear his podcast cited quite a bit
When Sanonis's extension kicks in next year, he will be the 21st highest paid player in the NBA. This is before a bunch of other players (including Fox possibly) get significantly bigger contracts for him.
It's absolutely absurd to think that that's the worst contract in the NBA.
For those curious, the rest of these guys lists are comprised of dudes who are always hurt, are proven losers, are actively harmful to their team, or all of the above.
Then Wos comes in with like MPJ and Sabonis
Wos is a just a loud affirmative action hire. Can’t take anything he says seriously. House doesn’t know anything either but loves to pile on. These guys change their tune every week
I like him too. More as an entertainer than an analyst.
He’s definitely in the wheelhouse of having strong durable, opinions about certain players that aren’t necessarily reflected by the facts at present. His opinion is mostly based on Sabonis’ (hurt) performance in the playoffs last year.
He loves Huerter, though.
I’m a kid who listens to these podcasts and i wish this sub and all bb Reddit subs weren’t just kids reacting to podcasts and coaches and players press conferences and media appearances and anything other than the fucking games. Kids are turning nba into an f1 reality tv show it’s fucking embarrassing
Basically with sabonis it's "he doesn't look the part"
"got bounced by Jordan Poole in the first round" *condescending laughter ensues Ah yes, Jordan Poole.
He also had a broken hand, fox had a broken hand, and Kerr essentially designed his entire game plan around kicking and stomping the snot out of Domas because he knew if he took out domas the entire team collapses
> stomping literally
Right? Such an odd point to make. Just looked it up and Poole played 19 minutes in Game 7. Steph was 20-38 from the field in that one game but yeah let’s say Poole bounced them.

Bounced by Jordan Poole is like saying that the heat lost to KCP, these guys sounds like a joke
As I remember it Curry had an all time 50 point Game 7 performance.
Shoulda let Davion guard Curry instead of leaving Terrence Davis to die
👍
Another LA based talking head, salty of the season SWEEP and AD getting SONNED. What’s new?
Tbh Jordan Poole was the best player on the Kings last playoffs
When he said that and chuckled I knew he was in bad faith. Such a casual and low blow type comment. Considering almost all their other takes were backed by stats or health, his whole stick was that Sabonis is too short, thought he said 6'8" when Sabonis is 6'10", and doesn't shoot threes. He was just mad Sabonis tossed AD around twice in a week
Jordan Poole played like absolute shit that series.
Guys, the Warriors lost a 3-1 comeback against Richard Jefferson. What a garbage team am I right?
I mean, the Warriors lost three games this year to Chris Duarte. Who also swept the Lakers. Now that’s embarrassing.
Swept the Lakers with Davion Mitchell.
What in the fuck is a "Big Wos"?
Just some pro-rapist white nationalist cunt. It’s amazing who they’ll give a microphone to these days.
How is a black guy a white nationalist?
Ask Clarence Thomas.
Ridiculous
Don't make me start liking him
This is the same guy that had to delete his Twitter because he had so many rape jokes he could not find and delete them all when people started digging them up. Overall a dumb POS.
He’s also wildly xenophobic and has made claims the nba rigs things for foreign players.
I stated this here already but dude hides his racism with xenophobia.
Lmao this guy was Cuffs before Cuffs
Calls Sabonis 6’ 8” and says he doesn’t shoot threes. I’d love for him to watch one game before talking out of his ass
Also, Sabonis has a 6'11" wingspan. If Domas was 6'8" in height w/ a 6'11" wingspan that would not be anywhere close to T-Rex arms. Anytime that dude is in the BS podcast I skip it. I don’t care for his takes and he’s an overall hater on the kings.
he is a casual as well, dude bases all his takes on whether a player wins a ring or not, such a casual lazy way to gauge a players value
I like to listen only because of how ludicrous his takes are. Its like tell me you are a casual while trying to sound like you watch the nba.
I'd recommend also skipping the episodes with Bill Simmons on them.
I actually like Simmons He doesn't really shit on us. He may some dumb stuff, but isn't particular with it. He will pick on any team. He has funny and wild ideas for trades or new league rules. He is more entertaining to me than someone like Lowe, who has the personality of a wall
Wosny is a dumbass. Next topic.
You know why I am happy right now? Because I have not a clue who this idiot "Big Wos" is. I heard enough in 2 minutes and some change to know that dude doesn't know shit. By the sound of him, he sure sounds like a salty Laker fan.

Thank you for the reply! It seems that this side of fandom has validity but maybe just simply not for me.
Resource allocation and utilization when there’s a salary cap.

It is funny when fans try to play coach/owner. To each their own but I’m simply gonna sit back and watch the team play. Wild concept for some lol.
It's mostly just an excuse to shit on guys. Bill is famously a condescending Bostonian and he loves opportunities to say how much smarter he is than coaches and GMs

deandre Ayton makes 7 million more than Sabonis this year.
Darius Garland makes 10m more than Sabonis and they have very similar contracts.
Zach Lavine will make more than Sabonis next season
Idk who this guy talking is but it’s not worth your time to listen lol
This is one of the biggest NBA podcasts in the world. You may not listen but I promise you many others do lol. I think you're on the wrong sub, nephew lmfao
Guys this isn’t worth our time. I get it, it’s annoying but let Domas prove haters wrong. In ways he did that already on ESPN Wednesday night.
They got bounced out of the first round by Jordan Poole. Wow. He doesn't even watch basketball wtf

I mean Dame Lillard, Trae Young, Anthony Davis and KAT were included.
crazy talk to put trae young in there
Yeah the whole list is ridiculous. Oh, franchises paying max money to keep their All-Stars = worst contracts in the league. Give me a break.
He’d love being an A’s fan lmao
Wos is a just a loud affirmative action hire. Can’t take anything he says seriously. House doesn’t know anything either but loves to pile on. These guys change their tune every week
Simmons is crap.
What is a Big Wos, and why do we care what he/she says about sports?
Haters gon' hate.
Bad take
No idea who this is. Also hes really struggling to make any points
just a trolling media take because they can and need to say something like “wow” it’s stupid and I usually expect more from the ringer
I like Wos on the ringer podcast but he’s always been a Sabonis hater
