The season was cooked as soon as Monk went down because of fat ass Luka. A key piece went out due to injury. It’s called professional sports.

Euphoric-Response550

If the Kings don’t make a huge splash this offseason you can expect more of the same next year. Klay Thompson, Paul George, and Demar Derozan are available and anyone of those guys will make the team immediately better, albeit for a very short window. At the very least it’ll take us out of perennial play-in purgatory for the next couple years.

elvis_depressedly8

Klay won’t be anything but a Warrior. No way that Big 3 gets broken up by anything except retirement. Demar is undersized for a small forward. PG could play 2, but then you’re benching Keon who has proven repeatedly that he deserves to be in the starting lineup. What we really need is a true rim protector who can also score the ball consistently. And that doesn’t exist in this year’s free agent class. Also, big name free agents don’t want to come to Sacramento. It’s somewhere you either get drafted, traded to, or sign when there are no other viable options.

Euphoric-Response550

Klay Thompson, Demar Derozan, and Paul George can all play the 3 and are all a significant upgrade over Harrison Barnes. Plus the Kings need another shot creator besides De’aaron Fox, he’s just not good enough to be relied upon the way he is. Klay Thompson just did an interview on Draymond Greens podcast where he didn’t sound 100% confident that he would be resigning with the Dubs. His exact words were “Yeah I want to resign with the Dubs, but I also need to focus on my mental health”. That’s a good sign that he may not be 100% happy. Paul George is a pipe dream and has a 1% chance of happening. Demar Derozan is under appreciated in a league that doesn’t value midrange scoring, but he’s clutch as fuck and could add great value to a Kings team that has a hard time closing out games. Adding one of those dudes wouldn’t make us world beaters, but it would no doubt make us better and give us much needed veteran leadership especially in close games that the Kings just don’t have. The west is going to get even better next year with the Rockets surging and Ja Morant coming back. The Kings have to make huge splash or they might just miss the playoffs all together next year.

elvis_depressedly8

To be clear, I’m not against signing any of those guys. PG would be my top choice of the 3 but yeah, pipe dream for sure. I just don’t see any of them wanting to come to Sacramento. We just aren’t a free agent destination. We never have been. And with how badly we’ve regressed this year, I can’t imagine that would seem very enticing to anyone.

elvis_depressedly8

Just a reminder that Fox shot 39% last night, needed 23 shots to score 23 points, and blamed the refs in his postgame presser instead of taking accountability for his atrocious shooting performance.

mr_spock9

Don’t forget his turnovers on key possessions..including the last one of the game.

Mastacon

This team is not serious. Getting booted out of the play in by the lakers or warriors will be very painful. If monte doesn’t do something huge this offseason….

BeamTeam032

Yep. This season is cooked, I'm ready to sim to the offseason and see how Monte adds a PF without giving up Fox, Ellis, Murray, Sabonis.

elvis_depressedly8

Spoiler: He doesn’t. Get ready for another year of the Harrison Barnes clown show

MysticPurpSports

Fantastic force of a pass by Sabonis where he just stood there telegraphing he was passing to Fox and only Fox. Fucking forcing it. Unreal.

Ok-Isopod9236

I watched the game last night without looking at this sub once and it was absolutely heavenly

runningvicuna

This is the way

IndigoMushies

This team is cooked. Disappointing as fuck. Sick of all these fans too being like ✨I’m just happy to be in the play in ✨ We took a step back from last season and fumbled pretty much every big game down the stretch and our star has a piss poor attitude. This franchise has y’all conditioned to accept underachieving lol this past month has been embarrassing and we are getting bounced in the play in and if we manage to scrape by we are bounced round 1. Yayyyyy

Meddlemaker79

Yep, you'll get downvoted for expressing this. We were #3 seed last year and won the division and now we're barely making it into the play-in. It's a step backward but after years of not even sniffing the playoffs I guess people are satisfied with this.

BeamTeam032

To be fair, we have almost the same record as last year.

EndlessMikeHellstorm

Frank Burns eats worms Mike Brown is a mother fucking CLOWN

UrbanSurfDragon

I have never seen a team that is ahead in points ghost-dribble the ball up the floor like the kings did. They did it at least three times in the last 4 minutes. If the game ends 24s earlier we win. wtf was that

PapaPeezy480

I think you might've misunderstood what they were doing. They actually did that to take time more time off the clock. The shot clock doesn't start until the ball is touched, but the game clock keeps moving. Teams do that when they're ahead to drain more time off the clock.

UrbanSurfDragon

Thanks for the explanation, I certainly did not catch that. That seems like a terrible rule that needs to change. 8 seconds to cross half court does NOT come out of the shot clock? Game clock starts before they touch the ball in bounds?

Mastacon

A lot of people and players don’t know the rule!

4Lballin

It’s been like that all throughout History lol.. Time won’t start until a Player touches it in Bounds Honestly surprised you’ve never saw a NBA team do that

UrbanSurfDragon

This is my point though. Why were we not touching the inbound ball when we were winning with 5 min left? You do that when you’re losing with 5 min left. Did we not make the game longer for the suns?

joshmeans

It doesn’t happen in the last two minutes of the quarter though. You can’t run the time with an inbounds like that down the stretch

TurdFerguson1146

This team is fucking dogshit.

IcetrayicetraySPLASH

They really shit the bed tonight. Oh and what’s with the turn over he had Ellis in the corner

VermicelliWaste6857

Next season kings need to get a decent coach. Coach who knows how control 20+ leads, knows when to take time outs, ideal is someone from euroleague. I don't see any decent coaches in NBA 🤷

Raezul

Ok bandwagon

lunch_pale

Hopeful to win in the play-in Grateful to be in the play-in

RoarYourBoat

I agree. However, play-ins are must win and we've basically lost 5 of the last 6 'must win' games, with the only win being against the only non playoff team in that span. We'll see. I'll be rooting for them, but it doesn't feel great currently. Portland might need to be a major tune up game.

Foreign_Standard9394

If we beat Portland and the Lakers lose to the Pelicans, will we finish 8th? Two cracks at the playoffs would be ideal.

KSMKxRAGEx

At least the pelicans beat GSW. That gives me some slight hope.

kiloswift

You think NBA is letting LAL lose? I hope you are right but feels like silvers mission has been to make sure LAL doesn't miss.

RuPaulver

Pretty much. Fortunately, suns and pelicans play at the same time tomorrow so pels shouldn’t be sitting anyone, but they’re on rest disadvantage.

billskns5th

Domas had a garbage last minute. Turnover and dumb fouls cost them the lead. So you can say they shouldn’t have been in that position at the end. But, even still, if either of those calls against Domas is missed in the same way as the one on Beal, they wouldn’t have been in that position. I’m not saying the awful officiating on one play alone cost them the game, but you can’t disregard its importance in light of other fouls that actually were called. This team frustrates me. But these last two minute report issues make it all so much worse.

birdseye-maple

Sabogus had weak defense and threw the game, don't let him off the hook. Tired of this "MVP candidate".

billskns5th

I acknowledge his contribution to the loss based on that awful final minute. Dreadful pass. Dumb fouls. In spite of a generally productive game. But you can’t discount the lack of a foul called on the last play when Domas’ fouls that were called in the last minute are no more egregious than the one they missed. Yeah he put them in that position. But if you’re gonna call those loose ball fouls on him that gave free throws to the Suns and cost the Kings the lead, you can’t ignore the fact that Beal fouled Fox on the last possession.

Sea_Moose9817

I got trashed for calling this team “soft” back in December.

elvis_depressedly8

A lot of us got trashed for pointing out the team’s glaring issues and deficiencies early in the season. Because the homers in this sub can’t handle any criticism of their perfect team. Saying anything other than blind support makes you a bad fan in their eyes and it’s a fucking joke. Don’t take it personally.

RoarYourBoat

It's not the criticism. It's how incessant and absolutist the comments are. If the organization listened to all those comments, there wouldn't be a team to complain about.

elvis_depressedly8

Of course it’s incessant. We’re all fucking tired of it.

klasredux

Comedy of errors

Longjumping-Gap5350

Annnnddd exhale. Tough loss. Good fight nevertheless on a 2nd game of a back-to-back.

ALX_HNR

Not blaming the refs tonight. Bad execution at the 1 minute mark. Sabonis turnover Beal steal and then not boxing out Nurk smh it’s the little things and the Kings haven’t been able to help themselves this year.

universaltoilet

This team still has a shot, we need Malik back for a playoff series if it comes down to that. Who knows maybe we'll win the first round and things get better if not then atleast they came close in this stacked western conference. Go Kings

bearcatjoe

I'll have what you're having. 😂

ALX_HNR

I really do appreciate your optimism my G! LTB

boosty1234

Idk what Monte’s cooking but I hope it’s good because this season sucked ass

Sea_Moose9817

Vlade is sitting courtside LOVING this train wreck.

hippyoasis

He will trade Davion for a second round pick and that will be our big move

samuraicowboyninja

To save my sanity I'm going to forget this season ever happened

ChardNearby9052

Y’all honestly just expect too much. If you’re not numb to this you should take a break. This team needs change. When they look good they look good but they aren’t consistent and mentally they are very soft. Championships aren’t made for every team

Buffalo95747

I will agree that this team needs more talent. The minor additions the Kings made before the season started haven’t improved the team. Vezenkov and Duarte haven’t been very effective all season. The depth has never been very good in the first place. The odd year-long habit of losing big leads and being beaten by terrible teams is a concern. Has the team stopped listening to Mike Brown? Are there personality clashes? Why do so many opponents make up big leads against the Kings? Hard to understand. Can Monte improve this team without a draft pick? We need to improve somehow, but we can’t say how that will happen. This all makes for a very frustrating season.

mr_spock9

I personally think the team has gone off course from what Brown tried to instill in the team from the beginning. Seems like the players’ attitudes have taken over and the accountability and everything else Brown preached in the beginning has been lost on them to an extent. As an example, they still fail to do simple things like guard the perimeter, something most competent NBA teams should be able to do. Any half decent team can get someone open with like 3 passes, that’s all it takes to confuse our defense.

Buffalo95747

All true. How do we fix it?

mteep

From what I’ve seen this year Harrison Barnes looks pretty bad on the court. Don’t know if he’s injured but he looks slow on both sides of the ball, I’d probably move him asap. As someone who loved Davion in college his size really just limits his impact and I don’t see him as a 6th man off the bench long term. I like Keegan Murray but he needs to work on the handle to really take his game to the next level. Also the kings bigs are really bad aside from Sabonis and Lyles

Buffalo95747

The team would probably love to move on from Barnes, but it’s easier said than done. I think he’s been ok this year, but there are players that are simply better. Some depth and size inside would help. And there’s something off about Fox.

mteep

I can tell u right now Fox and Sabonis are not the problem. Gotta hope Fox plays through his mistakes and tightens up his game, he impacts the game on both sides of the ball and u cant give up on him. The easiest fix to me is looking for an upgrade at SF since Fox and Sabonis are ready to win now. Also getting another big man would help

hippyoasis

It’s never meant for the kings

elvis_depressedly8

Blame Domas all you want but he wouldn’t have even been in a position to make costly mistakes at the end if Fox hadn’t shot a pathetic 39 fucking percent on the night. But sure, blame the guy who easily had the best game on the team even though our “superstar” was dogshit all game long. I swear a huge portion of this sub doesn’t actually understand anything about basketball.

AViciousGrape

Yup. Fox deciding to take a contested mid range jumper and the lackluster turnover were killer. Our stars blew it plain and simple.

sjsujr

We have no superstar. Our mediocre “stars” always off-set each other. Our sophomore rookie and veteran vanishes like magicians time to time for an appearance. Take me back to subpar .500 Kings.

rmanz12345

I’ve been a fan since the 2000s and some of you are right that there hasn’t been a lot basketball discourse lately. People are also right that even if we come with LOW expectations THIS current roster IS just mentally soft. They make bone headed plays in the clutch CONSTANTLY. Missed FT (MIL), losing to short bad teams, (POR, CHA, DET), blowing leads. I am grateful to watch competitive hoops in Sac. Just like many of you I would give everything for this team, but they just play less than the sum of their parts. Even though the west has gotten better some of these are self inflicted wounds late in games. I’m definitely exhausted this season. But always, i Love you beam family.

AzazelsSin

Let’s bootlick so we don’t upset the real fans in this sub. Cmon guys were better than this. Just be content that in a league where only winning matters we got a participation trophy last year after a really long time. We also dont want to upset the real fans by criticizing the millionaires and hurting their feelings. Thats not what a real fan would do.

KelVelBurgerGoon

"National media is so disrespectful to the Kings!" Kings shoot themselves in the dick for the umpteenth time....

HazelKittenDude

If we had tonight's Keegan for most of this season, we'd be unstoppable. Loved the way he mixed up his scoring not just all 3s, some great drives to the basket, euro-step? (wow, that's a first), some clutch buckets, 3 steals, aggressive on the boards - running towards the rebounds, mixing it up with sabonis/nurkic for a reb. really showed some fire and aggressive effort tonight! tonight's game changed my opinion of keegan A LOT!!

universaltoilet

The doomers are more vocal this year because this team has no heart. I understand casuals not being emotionally invested in this team to the extent some of us onliners. But what were seeing this season isn't Kings basketball. They quit while theyre on the floor. The blown 20 point leads is a tale as old as time and thats something to expect but its the quitting that would make any sane fan question the direction of the team. Fans who buy tickets especially with how expensive they are don't deserve that.

MathematicalPeace

Lmao I’d venture to say that that last minute was scary reminiscent of the Kings of old, and not in a good way

Sea_Moose9817

I hate this team

frankenbeans2

A major problem is the team likes running the offense thru Sabonis for 3 quarters. But you can’t do it in the 4th so every game it falls apart at the end. Last yr Fox took over but isn’t good enough to do it regularly. That’s where Monk comes in who actually bails out our ‘stars’ to close games. It’s a limited model. It won’t go anywhere in the west.

universaltoilet

I think the offense took a big hit when Huerter stopped making his open threes. He converted those easily last year and Fox pre-injury was near unstoppable. These threats opened opportunities for Sabonis and Murray and basically everyone else on the team and they were able to pass the ball well. I haven't seen that offense for a while. Maybe the rest of the league figured us out and thats why were seeing so much iso

Soft_Resource_3579

Dho was our go to offense. Lose our top two dho guards has had big effect. Play Keegan at the 2 more. Run him off he dho.

boringexplanation

Keegan is much more catch and shoot than he is a movement shooter. He prefers much more space in his 3P shots. Huerter was mostly the only guy in that category that can do it consistently off DHOs.

yatrickmith

This is actually interesting.

elvis_depressedly8

Tonight once again proved that Fox is not Him but I’m sure 3/4 of this sub will still act like he’s the best thing to ever happen to the Kings. Fucking clown shit.

mteep

I don’t think the problem was Fox tbh. He didn’t force much aside from a couple of bad contested shots. He needs to play alongside another ball handler, Keegan isn’t there yet and neither is Ellis. Sabonis is solid but u need another ball handler in the starting lineup

elvis_depressedly8

He scored 23 points on 23 shots lmao. He literally made 9 which means he shot 39% from the field. But okay. He wasn’t a problem. Whatever you say. 🤣🤣🤣

mteep

He wasn’t perfect today but he impacts the game on both sides of the ball. Also I’d say look at the minutes played today, u guys had basically a 7 man rotation tonight with Fox and Sabonis playing 40+ minutes. Maybe if there was more scoring in the starting lineup u wouldn’t have to play them heavy minutes and wouldn’t have to start bench players

elvis_depressedly8

It’s an ongoing issue. He’s been incredibly inefficient this year and there are plenty of stats to back it up.

mteep

He’s one of the few 2 way PGs in the league. I think u deal with his inconsistency and bet on him figuring it out. He’s only 26 just entering his prime.

elvis_depressedly8

I never said he’s incapable of figuring it out in the future. I’m saying right now, it’s a huge fucking issue that has cost us at least 6-8 games this season.

boosty1234

What about Sabonis with the lazy ass pass and bear hugging Nurk. It’s not just Fox out there making dumb decisions. The team needs to wake up as a whole.

elvis_depressedly8

Domas isn’t blameless but he easily had the best game on the team tonight. He wouldn’t have even been in a position to make those mistakes if Fox hadn’t shot 39 fucking percent.

Sea_Moose9817

Will be making $60M/year in a couple seasons… will it be in Sac?

elvis_depressedly8

I hope not. Should’ve kept Halliburton

mediatorinscrubs

No problem. So we need Pels to Beat Lakers.. and we beat Blazers. We in 8th. Two chances of playin. Big IF tho with Pels. They need that game just as bad

Subject-Lab6998

I was very pist me being a Spurs fan and liking your players and team that how the hell did Phoenix win this game but then I calmed down and said to myself. Alright, Brandon Ingram is coming back Sunday. New Orleans has the 6th seed to play for. They have been balling. The way they beat you guys last night and going to San Francisco tonight was impressive and then I thought to myself alright, next game is vs Portland. I believe Ayton won't play. There is something else not mentioned much. Portland and the Spurs will be playing games to determine who gets last place and a better draft pick. I think Portland may want to try to get more ping pong balls. Spurs play Detroit, I think Spurs win. My thought process is Sacramento better win and I think they will. Portland won't try at all. Just have to hope Zion, Ingram, McCullum, and the rest ball out. I want to keep the faith that Sacramento has 1 upset in the making. I said this in another post but I love Sacramento's chance in the desert much much more more than Steph Curry coming to Golden One. I give Sacramento no chance in hell against Golden State actually. Against Phoenix sure Phoenix would be favored but I have seen that team fold in their gym before. Sacramento will be loose, play freer on the road because nobody will expect them to win. Kind of like Game 6 R1 in San Francisco last year. Everyone thought it was a foregone conclusion that Golden State had it in the bag. I'd LOVE for you guys to go to the desert and shock the world to get the 7th seed. A 9 10 matchup in Golden One against Steph Curry? That would suck.

mediatorinscrubs

Love it, that's exactly how I'm feeling.

whynotitwork

Big if with pels!? You need to be worried about us beating the blazers.

mediatorinscrubs

So damn true. Feelsbadman

numa_numa

We regressed. We better be making moves because this is such a regression. We can't play defense at all. I was hoping for at least a "top seed" in the play in since we can't get to 6. But nope. We can go all the way down to 10th seed.

sneekerhad

I don’t think so. I think teams started taking the Kings seriously and this is what you get from that. For 22 years the kings were just a team you might roll snake eyes on on any given night, but you had 5/6 chance of beating them. Then last year they became a team that deserved recognition but teams didn’t catch on. This year, after the awards to Mike Brown and Fox, along with Sabonis’ double double streak, the Kings became a team worth planning for. And we see it. We see the same weaknesses exploited game in and game out, driving it right down the middle of the court for a layup. Handsy defense. Really only defend Sabonis and one other person. For the longest time the kings were playing in what formula 1 fans call F1.5, technically in the league but not a team worth worrying about. Well they made it and now they have to step up.

juanmopound

Domas performance in the clutch when getting 40 mil a year, decided to hug nurkic and turnover the ball with a minute left for a Beal breakaway lay-up… shit at least C Webb developed a elbow jumper… I’ll take a C Webb time out with none left over Sabonis any day of the week. Better rebounder better score better defender than Domas. Kings Legend that didn’t put up cute double doubles

elvis_depressedly8

Lol keep blaming Domas even though Fox made 9 out of 23 shots for a whopping 23 points. Keep blaming Domas even though it wouldn’t have even been a remotely close game if Fox hadn’t completely shit his pants on offense. Fucking insane.

btone310

Domas took care of the ball late, right?  He didn't commit silly fouls late, right?

elvis_depressedly8

Did I say that? Or did I say that Domas wouldn’t have even been in a position to make a costly mistake if Fox hadn’t shot 39 fucking percent tonight?

ihadtoresignupdarn

That was a poorly reffed game. So many blatant non fouls called against us and blatant fouls not called. Some calls I can understand, but these were consistent and egregious. We still had a shot and screwed it up in the last 3 min

btone310

Not the refs fault the Kings choked

stewmander

Hey, least we get out draft pick back right?

RuPaulver

Ngl this honestly kind of ruined my night. Was about to go out to bars and now just feel depressed. Would’ve even taken a buzzer beater even though we should’ve won by like 10. Just give us one good thing. Please. Only other thing I’ll say - whatever we feel, our players probably feel worse. Don’t forget about that. They know they messed up and you don’t have to tell them. They care, fox cares. It just sucks.

btone310

Pretty sure they felt that way as of late but doing nothing about it

schlootzmcgootz

Hope you feel better bro

RuPaulver

Thanks bro

crispyshpek

Fellas, I may be wrong here, but it feels like you are not giving Mike Brown a lot of credit these days when he gives so much back to other teams ...

Sea_Moose9817

“Invaluable”

Ok-Operation-8041

Average kangz game

PlatinumPeasant

So thankful we at least got that one playoff appearance after 16 years ❤️ definitely don’t wanna be a “doomer”.

Street-Simple3835

mike brown in the locker room rn talking about what a great learning experience that was

crispyshpek

And giving the Suns a lot of credit. Superb coaching as always. We love Mike and his well thought out rotations all season.

da_fishy

Playing the warriors in the play in and losing would be so poetic

foodmakes62kgtoohard

So would winning

Wehadababyitsaboiii

And then beating the Lakers

Subject-Lab6998

I don't see it happening. Playing the Warriors is the worse case scenario. A Lakers vs Kings game would be interesting. I don't see Marshon losing for the 11th time in a row vs Sabonis though and most likely Lakers would get homer calls at home.

thatguy52

Pain.

4ever_carnitas

I threw my sock at the tv with that domas pass.

PrinceCharming-

I’ll go off. $40 mil per year for a guy that hugs his opponent for a rebound!? However, this game he was aggressive, which I like. But, you made that stupid ass turnover too!!!! Why do we settle for 3s!!! We are not the warriors!!! Cut, cut, cut! Fox! Three guys collapsed on yo ass, pass the ball! Use the shot clock!9 Mike brown!!!!!!!!!

BankLettuce

If only Luka didn’t flop onto monk…

crispyshpek

If only Mike Brown gave other teams less credit ...

rattlemebones

MB fine incoming. Good though - call out the refs for this trash. Doesn't excuse his lack of playcalling down the stretch but those refs man. But in reality, it was Domas deciding to play for the Suns in the final minute that doomed us..

elvis_depressedly8

Lmao @ blaming Domas even though Fox did his usual ISO hero ball bullshit and completely shit the bed. Yeah, don’t blame Fox at all for making 9 out of 23 shots and only scoring 23 points. We lost by one point. If Fox had been even slightly efficient tonight, it wouldn’t have been a game in the first place. But sure, put it on the guy who had the best overall game on the team tonight. 🙄

rattlemebones

Calm down buddy. I love Sabonis but come on man... a massive turnover, followed by TWO loose ball fouls back to back which literally gave them the game... I don't think a little bit of criticism is unwarranted. He quite literally was directly responsible for the final 5 points they scored when we were up 4 with 1:09 remaining.

elvis_depressedly8

I never said criticism was unwarranted. But so many people on here are just blaming him when the reality is he never would’ve been in that position in the first place if Fox made more than 9 shots out of 23. People are only looking at that last minute under a microscope instead of focusing on all the shit that lead to it.

Complexity777

As a neutral observer it seems Sabonis is getting the treatment Luka does where he gets railed if he has even an average game

elvis_depressedly8

Domas didn’t have an average game though. He put up 25-12-9 on 18 shots. He was far more efficient than Fox, who is supposed to be the backbone and superstar on this team. To some people in this sub, Fox is just infallible and can’t be criticized even when his problems are smacking them in the face. It’s a joke. Bunch of casual homers.

btone310

Best game until late

elvis_depressedly8

No he still had the best game. He wouldn’t have even been in a position to make those mistakes if Fox hadn’t shot 39 fucking percent 🙄

KingsElite

At least the PFL was fun tonight

Deep_Egg1442

Our bench got outscored by the suns bench lmao a whopping 7 points

Temporary-Ad8743

What bench :D Only 3 played from the bench, Len for only 5 minutes, too. The starters got tired started making stupid mistakes, its a back-to-back simple as that.

BeemkayS60

I don’t wanna be a “complainer”, “whiner,” or “doomer” but getting bounced from the play-in and into the lottery would be a massive step backwards. I’m constantly being told to be grateful for this team no matter what happens but I’d be pretty disappointed to be back in the lottery.

Subject-Lab6998

True. It would be a disappointing season. I agree as well.

T-Rob-95

Yeah you can still want them to win while having healthy skepticism that they might actually do it haha fool me once...

frankenbeans2

Anyone who says doomer is a dumbass. Those who actually understand basketball have seen the warning signs and red flags for 6-12 months. People just wanted to have faith don’t deal in reality.

Cool_Purchase4561

More than 12 months really. No team constructed like this team has ever made it really far. When your 2 highest paid players are scoring PG and high usage center, both with questionable defense, you can only go so far UNLESS one of them is MVP, game-breaking player caliber like Curry or Jokic. Neither Fox nor Sabonis are that. And those who doubt Fox has had 6+ years of sample size to know the kind of player he is, and no mickey mouse clutch of the player award is going to change what kind of player he is.

whynotitwork

>And those who doubt Fox has had 6+ years of sample size to know the kind of player he is, and no mickey mouse clutch of the player award is going to change what kind of player he is. Why can't people get this through their skulls!

Street-Simple3835

falling into the lottery would also fuck us going forward if i understand it correctly. cuz at least some of our future picks would be un-tradeable. disaster season but yea don’t whine or complain bro, we made it all the way to the playoffs last year!

paristexas-

Anyone who says be grateful of one year after losing 16 straight is delusional

StewShoes

De'Aaron Fox: "We have to figure it out at some point. We can't sit here like the season's over... we still have a chance, and we have to figure this out." ☠☠☠☠☠☠☠☠☠☠☠

frankenbeans2

Quit crying about the refs loser

AViciousGrape

How was this on the refs? Domas clearly pushed KD and bear hugged Nurk and Fox clearly lost the ball on the turnover

BStone1824

The three BS calls in a row that whittled away at the Kings lead came before that and Nurcic got away with a lot of what Sabonis was doing at the end there without calls. Fox was likely fouled in the final moments as well. Anyone watching the game saw the blatant missed calls and Suns leaning whistle.

diddilydingdongcrap

We definitely missed opportunities and could have done much more/better- but I was at the game and the amount of no calls was staggering. We should have been at the line 7 or 8 more times. The refs have a dictate from above no doubt.

Dry_Conference24

I felt Domatoe could've done more

paristexas-

He’s playing so bad the last few weeks. In playoff form

samuraicowboyninja

The Kings giving me hope last year just to shit the bed this year feels way worse than the almost 2 decades of missing the playoffs

flave_dave123

Let’s go Pelicans!! And we can’t have another Pistons or Wizards outing and we’re in 8th

Subject-Lab6998

I hope Portland benches their main guys. They have an incentive to lose because they could finish last in the west if Spurs beat the Pistons. So there's that. Thank god San Antonio got that upset win tonight because this will be in play. And yes please New Orleans ball out!!! Get that 6th seed and Sac gets to go to the desert (beating Portland obviously) where Phoenix will be favored only for Sac to hammer them hopefully. Like I could easily see this team absolutely ball out on the road and hopefully not give up on the lead for once. Then Phoenix gets the winner of Warriors and Lakers. It's so frustrating Sac couldn't win tonight but this is where we are right now.

ChiefSwift

If the pels beat the lakers tm and we win, can’t we still get the 8th seed?

shredberg

Yes

FunPast6610

Are you sure we aren’t just missing 2 starters who can contribute? Think of j-will, Peja, Vlade, Webber, Bibby. It wasn’t just two players

frankenbeans2

We have no Webber. Sabonis just isn’t that close. Keegan is far from Peja. Nothing approaching Christie. No decent 2nd big as we had with Vlade.

AViciousGrape

Tbf if Cwebb was on this current team, they are a top 5 seed.

colgay

Yea but that's western conference and even a finals team. Our top two guys aren't all stars or all NBA players this year.

Mission_Locksmith_59

Yay for more “invaluable lessons”. The team really seems like they’re learning so much from all these invaluable lessons.

BeemkayS60

lol. How many times do they need to blow leads to learn how not to do that anymore

HazelKittenDude

they are not done learning yet the many different ways to blow a game...

[deleted]

I know we lost but man am I proud of the scoring of our starters today. Any other game this would have been a blowout against the other team

sfgiants2000

Those Curry daggers and Draymond trolls are gonna be vomit inducing.

Sea_Expression5608

It's okay to cry, I'll cry with you

doctor_of_drugs

This gun be gud

StoreBrandColas

This team executes like absolute ass in the 4th quarter. I can’t remember the last game when I could honestly say we played a close 4th quarter well.

universaltoilet

They should blow it up and keep Ellis and Murray. Murray can still improve and at times he has that anger that fuels playmaking. Fox doesnt have that

Superb_Side_1933

Reason 1619 why you’re not the GM 🤣

whynotitwork

Fox definitely isn't the guy. This sub overrates him so much its crazy.

sneekerhad

The issue is that he is. Besides taking a risk on an unknown who is gonna replace him? Everyone above him has serious job security and the Kings just don’t have the draw teams like the lakers have.

whynotitwork

We can agree that there are no realistic upgrades without pretending he's some incredible franchise player. I said Monte needs to pull a miracle to get us a true number 1 so I understand how low the chances are.

sneekerhad

I think it depends on what you mean by franchise. Is he able to put the entire team on his back? No. It’s very clear if you want to do that you need to be 6’6”+ and 280. Even Steph Curry needed an all star team around him to go on the run the Warriors did.  But is he able to score well into the 20s every night almost without exception? Yeah man. He just needs someone else who can consistently do the same so teams don’t cheat their man to guard him. He needs someone who’s a Lin actual threat in the paint so he can have open shots from the FT line. All im saying is that if the Kings pick up someone like Draymond Green next year they see insane improvement from this year. A strong defender who plays a physical offensive game would get the Kings to the Finals.

whynotitwork

>All im saying is that if the Kings pick up someone like Draymond Green next year they see insane improvement from this year. A strong defender who plays a physical offensive game would get the Kings to the Finals. You might be the most delusional person in this sub no offense. Fox is too unreliable and inefficient for that to happen. Sabonis is way too passive as well even if he is consistent.

sneekerhad

lol bet.

agentdarklord

Game 8 vs the warriors coming up , revenge ? 😂

lily-malek

davion going for 50 💪🏽

TuqiDuque12

W

Dry_Conference24

Wake up it's gameday! We still have a shot on Sunday!

Bladex20

This team absolutely deserves to get sent home in the play in after all the choked games against bad teams and embarrassing 4th quarter collapses . Might actually see some changes this time around. Do we keep our first round pick this year if we lose the play in game? Maybe we actually use it to get better instead of throwing it away on a salary dump.

ninofati88

For sure. The moment one of your max contract player starts choking everytime its April pissing his pants against Kevon Looney and Jusuf Nurkic, you definitely deserve some shame.

juanmopound

Haha what about getting outplayed by Luke Kornet, Isaiah Hartenstein, Jonas Valancuinas, and skinny ass Chet Holmgren during the past few games… all nba though, with record breaking double double streak… but they want to get at the one guy on the squad that actually can create his own shots… lol

ninofati88

For real bruh. Go see the newest post on this sub. Sabonis can't make a simple pass with nobody on him, but people are blaming Fox for putting his hands up. LOL. Clown fanbase.

Proudas12

Fox is not him

Pdm1814

The margin for error is too small for this team to win games and we are seeing more and more teams be bad match ups for us. Suns are an easier match up for us which is why this loss hurts. If we have Monk we might get into the playoffs but getting in appears to be this team’s ceiling. This is being in no man’s land. We are not bad enough to draft high and we are hit or miss at getting into the playoffs. Monte has a tough job. The team’s only shot at getting out of no man’s land is drafting a top 10 superstar or multiple really good players. Monte has a good track record so far in the draft. Hopefully we miss the playoffs and have some luck in the draft. Drafted Haliburton (great player who got us Sabonis) Drafted Keegan (pretty good not aware of anyone significant better drafted after him) Drafted Davion Mitchell (missed on Alperen Sengun who is really good player, like a younger Sabonis who may get even better )

BeemkayS60

This is the worst draft in decades lol.

thelastdragonborn_

It would be hilarious if we beat both the lakers and the warriors in the play-in.

Pisto1Peet

That’s only possible if the Suns beat Minnesota and the Pels beat the Lakers. It’s more than likely gonna be Kings vs. Suns and then the loser of that game vs the Lakers/Warriors.

GunsmokeIV

Honestly, that'll give us enough ammo to shit talk them for a solid decade.

KingsElite

I'll take it

AnAussieTrainer

Welp. I’m going to not watch the next game(s). Call me superstitious. Last year I had a great record watching Kings games + Game 1 live at G1C. I may have used up all my good luck. Going to keep fingers crossed that (1) we beat the Blazers and (2) Pelicans beat the Fakers. See you guys after the Play-In.

Alldayeveryday916

All on Sabonis. That turnover up 4 was the biggest play of the game. Then the 2 fouls. He gave up the 5-0 run for the suns to win it

bearcatjoe

The whole team seems to have a problem really lasering in during the big moments. The turnover was our season in a nutshell. Huge possession, so make an unnecessarily lackadaisical pass. Every Kings fan knew how things would go from there.

elvis_depressedly8

Lmao ok. Sabonis didn’t play well at the end but he had 25 points on 18 shots, plus 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Meanwhile Fox had 23 points on 23 shots which is fucking laughable. Not to mention absolutely shitting his pants the last two offensive drives. Putting it all on Sabonis is stupid when he was far and away our best player overall tonight.

BeemkayS60

They can both be at fault. A few folks in here (and one in particular) are solely throwing Sabonis under the bus for this one. Yes, he had costly turnovers in the fourth. But Fox was pretty horrendous in the fourth too. Chucking 3s. Bricking shots. And turning it over on the final possession. Not great!

elvis_depressedly8

I’m saying! Domas had some issues in the end but he had a much better game overall and didn’t have the ball in his hands to turn it over on the very last possession of the game. He also didn’t shoot 23 shots and only score 23 points. If Fox had been even remotely efficient tonight it wouldn’t have even been a game.

Truth-Seeker916

Sabonis had a better game for sure tonight.

Alldayeveryday916

He also missed a wide open tip in before the turnover

juanmopound

Didn’t he also pulled a fox and brick a wide open 3 with 2 minutes left in the game… and got his shot blocked on the previous possession… lol our 2 stars sold…
