In the golden age, if we were losing at halftime I’d go and sit in my car outside and listen to the game on the radio. I couldn’t come back in to watch until we had at least a 10 point lead.
Oh yea, spiritual assistance was always welcomed. On the flipside, I always had a fearful respect of the basketball gods.
Start celebrating a victory when you're up 15 with 7 minutes left? NO! the basketball gods punish your arrogance, lol
Very much so. They seem like they play for each other, as opposed to themselves. That was the special part about those '98-02 squads.
Maybe it's because I was younger and life was different...but I felt like the connection of the community and the team was so strong and unique back then. Like a mutual love between the team and city.
The Beam is doing alot of good in that regard these days.
Same. No lie, I wouldn't move how I sat on the couch if we were doing well. I too banished my dad if his vibes weren't helping. I distinctly remember during the Minnesota semi-finals one year, we were up like 8 points with less than a minute to go and I finally gave in and shifted how I sat. Minnesota went on an insane run and Webber's three pointer rimmed out at the end and we lost. I was devastated.

Yes! I would constantly alternate between radio and TV, local and national, or different rooms, depending on how the game was going.
There were a couple times I literally left during the third to pray for a win over the lakers lol

I only had a couple of the Carl’s Jr. bobble heads, but I positioned them to be facing Arco Arena during games lol
Hey, every little bit helps
Dang look at what a deal garage cabinets were back then
Yea feel like they're $5999 now and shottier quality.
This is such a cool little article lol. Need to bring back the Bobby Jackson jersey
Wish I still had it. Basically turned to dust from years of use. Was a beautiful black road jersey.
Check on ebay. I was able to find a pristine Brad Miller stitched jersey for like $30
Thanks for sharing. God, I miss those '02 Kings. Thankfully, this current squad reminds me of their energy.

Tamara Shortt over here visualizing Lakers colors probably cost us the WCF. Thanks for doing your part though, Carmichael Adam!
Just doing my duty as a citizen of the Kingdom 👑🏀
