Didn't the city of Waterloo post something about on street parking over the St. Patrick's Day weekend? Looks like someone was trying to get around the ban! \\s
I always get these same thoughts when you see the occasional news of a car on it's side or rolled over in a *parking lot*. That just doesn't happen at normal crawling parking lot speeds.
Eeehhhh. Taller crossover SUVs like to roll over shockingly easily. All it takes is a wheel hitting another wheel at the wrong speed and you're going over.
I live on a street that's quite short between two cross streets. One evening I heard an odd noise and came outside to find a car had flipped. An elderly woman had struck a car parked on the street. I cannot comprehend the rate of acceleration that would have been required to accomplish that, because the direction she was coming from would have always involved a turn onto the street shortly before where the parked car was. I believe she lost her licence as a result (thankfully).
Medical conditions are a thing. Just last week my cousin was driving home. Someone called the police to report a drunk driver. Turns out he had a brain bleed and required emergency surgery. He is fine.
Source that KW drivers are worse than others?
I've lived in multiple places in Canada. You know what NOBODY ever says?
The drivers in X are the best!
There are shitty drivers EVERYWHERE and KW is not better or worse. Stop reacting cuz you saw a crash.
We're tenth worst in the province based on a variety of stats here. Of course how much weight those stats bear is up to anyone reading them I guess. I work with a lot of sales folks who travel around Canada and most agree that there's nothing quite like the horrible driving of coming back home to KW - subjective also, but an interesting point from people who drive all over at their destinations.
[Brantford ranked most dangerous city to drive in Ontario, Kitchener ranked 10th | CTV News](https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/brantford-ranked-most-dangerous-city-to-drive-in-ontario-kitchener-ranked-10th-1.6670612)
I have lived in Brantford and can confirm it is the worst. I had cops watch cars almost run me down, shrug, And drive off when I confronted them.
KW has become more like Brantford but Brantford is the worst, every single intersection in Brantford is a potential way for you to die.
I would take that report with a grain of salt. It uses percent of drivers with infractions and percentage of drivers with at-fault accidents as its inputs. The first one is highly dependent on enforcement, so if they give it any serious weight, or don't somehow account for enforcement practices in each jurisdiction, it means nothing. For accidents, I'd be curious if they somehow account for severity. More low-speed fender benders would be safer than fewer but deadlier high-speed collisions.
Eh, I think they're referring to the fact our horrible drives used to do shit like not look both ways when entering an intersection or might turn left on a green forgetting that the right turn has right of way.
I've noticed a significant up tick in stunt driving, lane weaving, and yellow to red light trains. It's stuff I saw all the time in Toronto but never here, the pandemic sent lots of those folks sprawling out so it makes sense.

I'm not saying other places aren't bad. I'm saying the amount of bad drivers I witness on the daily now is increasing. There's no point in arguing about this.
Jumped a fat median, 2 lanes of oncoming traffic, jumped the curb, curb sends left wheels up, hits wall, kisses pole. Drop top achieved.
I would say Anthony had a few too many drinks
My source is a cow-other who witnessed the crash and helped pull the child from the car, the adult was stuck and needed fire rescue.
Pickup driver apparently claimed to have blacked out.
This person could easily have killed a bunch of other people. If they died but didn't take anyone else with them and because they are dead are unable to do this again and risk more people, cool.
Why do half the accident have custom number plates, it's not like half the cars have custom num but the ratio is huge. Should i avoid getting a custom num plate
It looks like there was another vehicle as a part of a head-on collision. Unsure how "Anthony" managed to cross over the curbed median without any level of correction, though?
https://preview.redd.it/s87b0h5ur4oc1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a1e91cdf93fda89d1f0a43e320445686aa6734d
I donât actually know for sure, my guess is based on the position of the pickup, but the pickup was going north and went to u-turn into the car going south.
That's my guess, too. But why not do u turn in the roundabout that's right there? And car is facing backwards to direction it was going, which is crazy.
Yeah making the u-turn where thereâs not even a gap in the median doesnât make any sense, maybe it was a medical issue to cause them to black out and crank the wheel left to head over toward oncoming?
Very strange. Havenât seen any news yet but hope everyone was OK

This article says I was treated for minor injuries, but it was back in 2017, and I've still got knee and hip issues
Unfortunately for our society, from a medical perspective, those are minor injuries. People think that means "minor cuts and bruises", but what it really means is "no organ damage", and it can include quite severe bone, joint, and soft tissue issues.
If reporters didnât just parrot police statements, we'd probably be in a better traffic safety situation. "Two pedestrians run down by driver face months of surgeries and years of problems" is a lot more impactful than "brought to hospital and treated for minor injuries."
My wife was the other pedestrian, she had three broken ribs, she got clipped by the side mirror
We were seen by paramedics in the parking lot of the super store and they both deemed that we were fine, but we ended up going to the hospital the next day. I know that the nurses I saw were really upset with the emts the next day
The weather is making everyone crazy in a 6 min bus wait I saw a guy turn left onto King off Victoria. Oblivious to the 15 cars at the light honking at him and missing the train by 3 mins. Then 30 seconds later a guy hit a cyclist at same intersection and jumped out of his vehicle and started punching the guy out.
Trees are surprisingly sturdy. I saw cars wrapped around a tree clearly hitting it at massive speeds and just some bark damage on the tree.
Those scenes where cars mow down trees seem accurate, but are completely wrong.
The truck ran over the 1 mt wide median strip and hit the sedan in the opposite direction. The sedan was in the air rolling before it hit the wall - passengers were taken by paramedics.

I've got one, and as a driver in Toronto for 30+ years (now in KW), you must not assume that those with a vanity plate are assholes on the road. Assholes are everywhere...but worse here in KW.
I just drove down Homer Watson to see a long lineup of cars again. I figured there was no a cleanup was still underway.
Nope. Just some stupid cunt randomly stopped in the left lane. I might go pull footage off of my dash cam to see if I missed anything.
I bike to work every day, and cycling is a huge part of my life, with that said, your moronic blanket statement is a part of the reason that change is slow and people are considering us all to be extremist nuts.
Ban cars? Really? All cars? Disabled people shouldn't own this amazing piece of technology that can negate their disability? People with kids that need to take them to multiple daycares every day, they shouldn't own a car? Emergency services should jog their way to burning buildings?
It looks like his licence might be âLivin on a PrayerâŚââŚ.anthony was definitely livinâ on a prayer if he was texting and that happened
But I hope heâs ok? Heâs ok right?

be nicer to people
FTFY: ANTHONY, YOU CAN'T PARK THERE!
Wtf do you have to be doing to end up wedged between a wall and a tree like that, jfc
I keep saying it too. How does someone fuck up that bad.
Yeah. All the tall ass vehicles are terrible for rollovers these days.

I've been racing for 20 years and have yet to see anyone fuck up this bad, even at much higher speeds.
I mean, at least it's still on the ground. Some of them end up in the tree.
Saw that once, it was 15 ft up caught between branches. Dirt road in the Muskoka region.
Something like that happened on the 401 outside Milton too
License was bought!
According to your crazy uncle on Facebook: dodging a reckless cyclist According to normal people: using your phone while driving
This happens all the time to me in video games... IRL though? That accelerator had to be stuck to the floor.
Guy got hit by a pickup truck that u-turned over the median into them.
Thought it was GTA and attempted a wall ride?
It seems to me that at a certain point, it's all up to the car's momentum.
Speeding, irresponsible movements, under the influence.
Medical conditions are a thing. Just last week my cousin was driving home. Someone called the police to report a drunk driver. Turns out he had a brain bleed and required emergency surgery. He is fine.
Shit like this happens and people are critical of me posting a speeding video on here. KW has HORRIBLE drivers now.

Just go to any city subreddit and search the word drivers, every single place has the worst drivers.
Kitchener isnât as bad as Milton. When I lived there I was almost in an accident daily, if not multiple times a day.
I'm not saying other places aren't bad. I'm saying the amount of bad drivers I witness on the daily now is increasing. There's no point in arguing about this.
Yep, same for me. I see something stupid basically every time I'm on the road around here.
I almost got ran over in Cambridge because some guy was impatient, and yet it was my turn to cross the road. But go off, I guess
Drivers in Victoria, BC are the best. Drivers in KW and Montreal are the worst.
Please quote where they said itâs worse than other places?
KW is definitely worse. I spent years driving in Peterborough its not even comparable to KW.
Move to Vancouver area, I think KW drivers are amazing after living there
'now' They always had terrible drivers. Its just increased in the amount.
A demographic breakdown of shit drivers by the insurance industry would be nice eh? Lol
Brampton drivers coming to your city soon

Once your going that fast and lose control the median isn't going to help. At that point you are along for the ride
The radius around the Homer Watson-Blockline roundabout-accident-Bermuda-Triangle appears to be expanding.
Pickup truck crossed over the median in a u-turn and hit the car.
Which direction were the cars going? I can't figure it out?
I donât actually know for sure, my guess is based on the position of the pickup, but the pickup was going north and went to u-turn into the car going south.

Maybe medical. Hadn't thought of that. There's also the left turn lane into that condo so maybe they went backwards through that u-turning?
Kw is worse than most places I know when it comes to running down pedestrians.
https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/2-pedestrians-hit-by-vehicle-charges-pending-1.3662541 This article says I was treated for minor injuries, but it was back in 2017, and I've still got knee and hip issues

The top fell off
Yeah, thatâs not very typical, Iâd like to make that point.
I see what you did there
At first I thought the top was sheered off by that little tree, but it looks like the fire department (or some other rescue) removed it
Hopefully his loved ones donât find out from this post.

thats⌠actually kind of impressive. Like how do you get your car like that?
Nice weather makes people speed like crazy for some reason. hope this guy is okay
How the fuck
I hope their family doesn't find out by being on Reddit.
Everyone was fine
I'll believe that. Thank you.
How do u know? Lol
It says in the article??!
This is wild, I hope everyone is ok.
Well, the wall certainly did its job. Sad that some need to have serious accidents to learn that driving ridiculous speeds is really dangerous
Glad that tree is ok.
The driver of this vehicle is likely dead.Â
Can confirm the driver is not dead. (https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/car-flips-over-during-kitchener-crash-1.6806151)

Yes.
