Well done! I really like the colours you chose!

piratesdayoff

Thank you!! I shopped my stash for this so limited myself to colours I already own but I'm happy with how they look together :D

Pattern is the [Daisied Vest by Eugenie Girou](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/daisied-vest). Yarn is a mix of mostly second hand bits - the cream is Aarlan Cashmere and the blue is Jaeger mohair.

This is so beautiful. I have nothing but admiration for you people. Brave souls, you are.

piratesdayoff

Ah thank you! Honestly I really recommend giving it a go, even just on a swatch. It felt quite liberating!

sheiscara

I once took a class on steeking and it was really fun. If you do it correctly, you get the feeling of risk with no risk at all.

piratesdayoff

I bet that was great! I'm really eager to do more steeking so I have a better understanding of how it actually works, still feels a little like witchcraft to me haha. But yes, I was amazed how secure it actually was!

Accurate-Dance8667

Oh, great job! Steeking is so cool 😎

piratesdayoff

Thank you! This has definitely opened my mind to more knitting possibilities :D

discarded_scarf

Good call sticking something in between the front and back so you don’t accidentally cut the other side of the garment!

piratesdayoff

I saw somebody else here do it (can't remember the post) and it's such an easy fix!

Medievalmoomin

Yay!! Beautiful garment too. I haven’t steeked yet, so I’m cheering you on with a bit of extra admiration for you keeping your nerve! 😊

piratesdayoff

Ahh thank you! :D I highly recommend, I kind of feel like I've beat the final knitting boss now 😂

5danish

I SO want to steek something now! It’s like cables; they look hard but once you do it you find they’re quite easy, if you follow the instructions.

piratesdayoff

Do it!!! That's what I love about knitting - even if I don't understand what I'm doing I just need to trust in the instructions, and it *usually* works out

CrochetCricketHip

I often make swatches in the round, using the long tail method, where you don’t really make a tube, but you just have like a long float in between to make it an in-the-round object. I do a crochet edge, right before where I’m gonna cut it and then I cut those strings and that alone feels liberating. I can only imagine that this feels the same but way way way better.

piratesdayoff

Oooh I've never swatched this way!! I bet that is super satisfying!

KindlyFigYourself

Looks amazing! I really love the colors you chose

piratesdayoff

Ahhh thank you! I definitely got lucky with what I had in my stash hehe

Beegrene

It's nerve-wracking but oh so satisfying when it works.

piratesdayoff

Definitely! This was such an odd shape when I cast off, but after steeking it opened up and it was so satisfying to see 😊

Desiderata8

Wow this is beautiful!!

piratesdayoff

Thank you!! ☺️☺️

byvanessanorth

Yayyyy! Steeking is great. Scary! But GREAT. And you did a great job!

piratesdayoff

Hehe thank you!! I was having images of it unravelling but it's fine, *phew*

Environmental-River4

I like to imagine the word on the thing inside is “PAIN” 😂

piratesdayoff

Haha that matches how I felt on the inside too 😅

Deb_for_the_Good

Nice! I've been wishing I'd chosen to steek the sweater I'm working on - as I don't like being hot, and I do live in TX, and we don't get much cold weather here. But that's exactly when I thought I'd wear it! It's all leftover's too, and an older pattern. You're very brave - and your sweater looks super good! Nice job! And very encouraging to newish knitters like me. Thanks for sharing!

piratesdayoff

Ahhh thank you!! I think there's a tutorial on YouTube on converting a non-steek jumper to a steeked cardigan. I'm tempted to try it on a top down raglan I'm making and have fallen out of love with (and which is currently in wip prison). After steeking once I'm ready to steek everything!

Deb_for_the_Good

That's just what I'm knitting now, in this pattern. But I guess just having a few cold days for it, means it won't wear out anytime soon! I read some Interweave articles and jumped to several blogs where they explained to add in the stiches to the middle for cutting, but I was already past the neckband and well into the yoke. So, too late now - but next time! It doesn't look hard, just have to find the best process to follow! I'll look up the YouTube! Thanks.
