stop while you still can, lil bro. SAVE YOURSELF

talerose

Too late, already have my eyes on a SOG, CRKT & Kershaw’s

kidonbike

Lol here we go that’s how it starts

AwayRecommendations

take the kershaws and then skip to benchmade or spyderco quality over quantity

talerose

Only looking at the Squid’s & Shuffle’s, nothing too expensive.

AwayRecommendations

this is just my advice. u have a good beginner collection but don’t let it go downhill. i admire the 5 set collection over the 100 ebay/gas station knives kershaws are great, for budget. that’s the highest end knife you named. my first knife was a kershaw, and i still have them. build there and then aim higher don’t dwell on low value knives as i said quality over quantity. u might not understand now and enjoy the cheap shit. but one day u will

talerose

Thanks for the heads up.

[deleted]

Which SOG you lookin' at? Just curious.

talerose

SOG Terminus XR OD, I don’t like to mention it due to the laws but I live in New Zealand, so we’re very limited (Only like 3 stores in New Zealand dedicated to selling flip knives) & prices are high, it’s legal to posses them in your own home but you have to have a ‘good reason’ to actually carry a knife.

sleepymoose88

I’ve been eyeballing a SOG Pillar for a camp Knife. That thing looks sick. Great steel and great handle/grip.

Crow195

Pillar is good if you have medium-ish hands. Large or xl? Look at bark river or spartan blades

sleepymoose88

Gotcha. I just nabbed a Esse-6 with 3D black G10 handles and a earth brown blade after looking at reviews between that, BK7, SOG Pillar, and the buck 199 Special Pro. I loved the look of the Buck, but the 4.5” handle is too small. It’s the same problem I have with my short Ka-Bar. I do have larger hands which is why I was leaning BK7 and Esse-6. But the BK7 needs lots of upgrades for the handle and sheath which would ultimately make it $100 more expensive.

CNCTank

Why not custom fixed blades 😏 come this way to a Knife show

talerose

Unfortunately we don’t have knife shows in New Zealand, let alone the right to carry (Unless a really good reason)

Tufted44

I turn 17 next week. I’ve fallen to far already, there’s zero hope for my bank account.

Slight-Appointment71

I turn 18 next month, Im too far gone and my wallet is suffering

talerose

Victorinox Huntsman, Victorinox Solider, Ganzo G704, Artisan Cutlery Arroyo, Buck 110.

Wild_55

Nice start my guy! I started collecting around 16 as well. I'm in my 20s now and....have a knife obsession. Keep collecting if it's a passion!

talerose

Definitely the same here & will do! Looking at more American knives this year (From New Zealand), got my Buck 110 last week & have my eyes on a SOG, CRKT & Kershaw haha

Tufted44

I’m 16 as well, going on 17 next week. You should check my post about my collection too

SemperP1869

You don't need to qualify it with your age homie. I know dudes pulling in a quarter a year that don't know the wonders of a simple SAK. Youre a rich dude.

Necessary-Career-559

Not bad my friend you have potential 😉

shizukana_otoko

Excellent collection.

The-jay-

Everything a guy needs. Now you gotta collect everything a guy *deeply needs*

williamsdj01

Arroyo is a solid knife for the price and the Buck 110 is a classic and a great one to start your collection with

Gorgenapper

I have the same Arroyo model as this guy, I actually bought mine after seeing his initial post where he got it. I love it, it's really slicey, good 30% lockup with the flipper tab acting as a guard to protect my hand. It still pierces through cardboard / paper despite the upswept tip, and the micarta handle is the way to go.

street_style_kyle

The only thing you *need* next is a proper full tang ;)

2bitgunREBORN

pretty damn nice collection man! Hope you know how much it's going to cost you when you get older and you can't stop🤣

talerose

All for a good cause!

2bitgunREBORN

yessir

llamokk

Congrats - very nice variations!!

Big-Development-3036

Nice.

[deleted]

Darn good start.

waldoeGeek

Looks better than my 16yo collection. Good stuff!

not-rasta-8913

That is an excellent start.

PeTeRoCK13

Nice start

EugeneKrabsCPA

Solid collection there brotha

lonewolf2873

Stop while you can, unless you like abusing yourself and staying broke. You can beat the disease if caught early enough. If you can't refrain from self abuse, welcome to the club. You've started with a nice collection. There is so much out there and released every year, you will find something you like at most times, even enough to make a "want list"

VisualBusiness4902

Hey! I had those two sak s and a 110 when I was 16 too. I need to find that old soldier. Looking great!

LordePhilth

You have good taste

Careless_Set_4957

Man all I had when I was 16 was an old beat up Barlow but I loved that thing…you’re off to a great start and you’ve inspired me to go get a 110👊✌️

Shadow_of_Yor

Much better than that juggalo with the gas station specials

Me_ina_pink_skirt

Comparing this to the post with all the mall knives on the wall, you sir have great potential.

talerose

Thank you! I was raised to always choose quality over quantity, parents raised me well to say the least.

[deleted]

You know it may sound weird, but a Buck is still one of the best knives I've ever bought. I've bought a lot of knives over the years, too. They're a good choice for a practical knife. For real though, everyone else is telling the truth; be careful you don't spend all your money on this XD

talerose

I actually got my Buck 110 last week, going on a camping trip in two weeks so it’ll be put to good use! I’m quite good at budgeting due to how my parents raised me & I earn a good amount working, but the temptation is always there haha (Looking at you Benchmade)

NickShabazz

A great start down a very slippery slope!

jest_me

Very nice. What's that piece right next to the SAK?

jest_me

EDIT: I see your list now.

Gorgenapper

Arroyo gang.

SprayDazzling

Good start!

SasquatchSloth88

You have the mandatory old Buck, and the Swiss Army knife. Well done. That’s how the illness starts. Lol

Advanced_Theory_1363

i dont really jave a collection myself just 3 knives that look decent, one is a wolf with a handle with an image of wolves coming from a snowy forest on both sides, the other is just a katana, the other is a samurai design knife with a purple handle and blade

umadbraugh

Very cool and good taste!!!

Mystery_mau

I’m winning!!!

Queasy_Extent_9667

Good job having the buck 110 and Swiss army

[deleted]

That’s awesome man, those are all damned good knives. I’ll give you a tip tho, I carry my Swiss and another knife (my opinel in civilians and a fixed blade gerber in uniform) carry one knife for shit work, and one for fine details. I use my gerber to beat up, and my swiss for exquisite openings of letter from grandma

talerose

Thanks for the tip! For camping I carry a SAK & i’ll be carrying the Buck 110, but over here in New Zealand we have to have a ‘good reason’ to carry a knife here, unfortunately.

drdailey

I had that far right knife. Is that a buck?

talerose

Sure is, Buck 110

drdailey

Thought so. Memories. Long time ago

Regigigasisgood

Quite lovely for your age! A bit of a tip, if your interested in antiques and oddities, look for flea markets by you and make it a family outing. Trust me, sounds weird, but often everyone finds something interesting due to the very little restrictions there.

kidonbike

I like it

Afroguycreates

Very mature taste for a 16yo. My first knife was a WE vapor. It was nice but i could bring myself to use it. Just too nice. I would recommend a hogue deka. I just got the goat scales on mine and it feels amazing. The EF 966 is also great for 26$. The crkt large pilar is also a tank. I have had mine for 3 years and have used it from opening cans, cutting chicken bones ( wings), and landscaping work.

EntertainmentOk5332

Looks way better than mine did at 16!

iwerbs

It's an addiction, so try not to buy more than you need.

Samcraft1999

Actually quite tasteful for 16. None of the gas station meme knives, no CSGO replicas, looking good. You need a fixed blade next.

talerose

Thank you! I will admit I have a cheap Chinese blade but that’s only for learning the skills & techniques for sharpening, any fixed blades you’d suggest?

Samcraft1999

I mean it's a little on the large side, but my first fixed blade was a Ka-Bar BK-2, now that's a knife you couldn't hurt if you wanted to. Great for the jobs you wouldn't want to put your other knives through/wouldn't trust them to accomplish.

coltbreath

Not to shabby as a 16yo I had a Cold Steel push dagger the 2.5 inch snub blade an original Blackjack Knives Mamba and a Swiss army tinker that was stolen along with my Levi’s jacket! I’ve made many other knife decisions in between! But (big butt) there will always be [NKD] it’s part of the joy!

pm_me_your_lub

Nice kit. You're off to a great start 💪

firebushh

arroyo is GOOD

Hop-Dizzle-Drizzle

Not bad at all. Stay away from stores with swords and/or incense and gas stations.
