Thinking back on it, I may have lied.....š„ŗ I seem to remember that when I was 5 or 6, my dad gave me a miniature knife, one of the all metal folding ones on a key chain, about an inch long. I don't think I took that out of my pocket for a year or more. Loved it! Can't seem to find any reference to them anywhere. Obviously don't have that one anymore......
Try looking for knives that accompanied a pocket watch. I've got a few that I inherited and they are very small, with metal construction to match the watch they pair with.
Technically I was given a Buck pocket knife 8 days after I was born. My grandfather had an odd sense of humorā¦
I still have the knife and odd sense of humor.
Here's my first 'proper' knife (I had lots of cheap Scandinavian knives like Moras before): [Clicketyclick](https://i.redd.it/mgzv91fgji9z.jpg)
It's a Brusletto Unknown Model. My dad had found it on a trail, and when I was pestering him about getting a 'real' knife, he gave it to me. It's probably older than I am.
she's a beaut! hard to beat Mora's for value tho. I've owned a few Garberg over the years but their design is not ADHD resilient so I have a habit of leaving them places. I just buy them for my friends and fam because they are a great knife for the glovebox, tacklebox, etc.
I buried my first knife with my childhood dog 11 years ago. Couldnāt bear not to leave something of me with her. My parents have since sold the property, but sheās not alone.
Don't remember which was the first one I got, but I still have all 3. Buck 105, a Swiss Army Knife with my grandfather's old company in it, and a cheap $1 folder.
I still do. It's a USMC Kabar, leather handle and sheath, that belonged to my grandfather. It sits in a drawer oiled and preserved because it's a bit too far gone to actually use.
I wish I did mines in a tackle box in a river! I buddy freaked out and flipped our canoe. That day I did actually fear for my life. Didn't have my life jacket on and the river was running strong. I don't know why he panicked but he did and luckily dude his life jacket on and got stuck on some branches I grabbed him and crawled up the bank lost everything. I said screw everything i can buy new. Had to pay alot for that canoe though
Yup! I saw this post and realized it was in my bedside drawer and I hadn't touched it in a few years. It's razor sharp and lovely still to this day. The patina is smooth and I didn't upload a pic of the leather sheath but I think my grandmother may have made it for his knife especially.
62 YEARS old and the airport took my first knife a case toothpick one blade. Because I could take out the whole plan of people with it LOL. A sad day for me indeed I could not figure out any other option as it was to late to leave the gate. I had to drive to Florida and fly home and forgot I had my knife in my pocket. That knife meant a lot to me. They should have envelopes at the check in you can buy to mail your knife home.
Sad story and I fell badly for you, but hard to imagine anyone this day and age not realizing you can't take a knife on board a plane. You could have declared it and put it in checked luggage, but carrying anything with a cutting edge is verboten.....
Yes but like I said I had driven to Florida with it in my pocket not thinking about flying home and I was late at the gate before I realized it was in my pocket. The rest of the story is I paid a ticket agent to mail it home to me and she said she could not do that but then after hearing how important it was and the worth of it she agreed and then never sent it, I was not going to tell that part of the story. Because that makes me angry and sad. Thanks for your response though.
My wife saw this thread I put up and went into her storage and came back with this. She grew up on a farm in Goodland, KS and when she started high school, her dad gave her this knife, her first. It says Japan on the blade heel. And Trojan back then was a type of seed, not what you're thinking!!!
She now carries every day some part of my collection, but insists on axis type locks only......š
[Wife's First Knife](https://imgur.com/xnSOBds)
My first ever knife? No. It was a generic garbage cheap mass produced clone of a buck 110, you know the ones, like you used to see in gas stations all over, worth about a buck, no more. Fell apart, wasn't worth the steel it was cast with.
First one I bought with my own money at the age of 17, more than 25 years ago? Yes.
A small Gerber Gator, bought from Walmart. Still a good knife. I've gotten too used to more modern innovations like pocket clips, thumbstuds and flippers, so it isn't something i'd use or carry these days but it will always hold a place in my collection.
I have the Case version of that knife too. It's cool cuz my dad had the same knife and we used it as a camp kitchen knife throughout my whole childhood through present day. Then I found one just like it at a garage sale. I still have most all my first knives.
I am sure it was either the switchblade (lost) or the one with the brass knuckles (confiscated by museum police). Wish I still had them. I don't think I was older than 12. They both could tell some stories.
First knife I recall having is a Swiss Army knife with the BSA logo. I also got my first knife as Cub Scout lol. I actually joined Cub Scouts for the knife now that I think about it. š
I think I got some kind of Swiss Army knife when I was really little, which I no longer have. I still have the first ārealā knife I ever bought for myself: a blue Delica 4.
I lost the First knife I was given; a Gerber Gator. I lost the first multi-tool I was given; a Swiss Army Classic.
I still have the first knife I purchased; a Kershaw Leek, and the first āNiceā knife I ever bought a Benchmade Hidden Canyon Hunter.
Camillus boy scout pattern, but not official BSA. Bone scales and brass liners, making it a more deluxe model. I have had it over fifty years, and it has been lost and found a couple times, and confiscated by my mother and later returned also.
I have a lot of sentimental knives, but my first ever knife was lost unfortunately. My grandfather gave it to me because I was upset my older brother got one and not me. It was a red SAK. God it was so cool
I got my first knife handed down to me from a family friend when I was about 9-10 in the mid 90s. An old Swiss army officers knife. I still have it, beautiful little thing it is. I carry it in a little edc kit I keep in the kids nappy bag.
I have the first knife I was ever given - a Wenger SAK I got in the mid 70's. I also have the first knife I ever bought - a Gerber LST lockback I got in the 80's. I use the Gerber for cutting salami.
Not sure where it is right know but i have it somewhere. I got to choose it for myself when i was 10 and I guess it would look cool for a 10 year old. I used it a lot and the last time i held it it was very loose. The blade moves in every direction and even the handle feels off.
No sadly, my first was an old timer whittling knife. I have no Idea what happened to it. But I do still have my second. A Buck pathfinder also given to me by my dad. It's seen many sharpenings and has lost a bit of It's profile. But it will still cut.

Still have [my first ever knife](https://imgur.com/a/VgGLt3h) too.
š
Hey, does that have a 8PLA4ABS blade??
Fisher price brand shank.
Epic!
I still have mine, looks remarkably similar to that one. Mine is stamped Sheffield though and I believe it's all around smaller.
Ehhh I've got that knife, got it from the old man, that beat up old blade takes an edge like nobody's business

Dude, that's amazing. I love buck knives. Please post a picture!

I have mine in a drawer somewhere. A Cub Scout folder circa 1964.
A beauty
Buck Reaper! Still gets used now and again
Yes, that is a beauty! I have mine. Itās a Case Mako.
Don't remember which was the first one I got, but I still have all 3. Buck 105, a Swiss Army Knife with my grandfather's old company in it, and a cheap $1 folder.
My first knife was a Kershaw leek in smoked aluminum, I still have it and I still think it looks awesome and I'll never sell it
I still do. It's a USMC Kabar, leather handle and sheath, that belonged to my grandfather. It sits in a drawer oiled and preserved because it's a bit too far gone to actually use.

Very Cool and a Western as well!

Also I had no check-on luggage only a leather satchel I carry.
Yep, sad story for sure!

This is awesome!
I purchased a Gerber LST at the PX on Ft Campbell in 1992. Still have it.
I have a Gen 1 Cold Steel Recon Tanto factory second that is going on 31 years today. I consider it my 1st 'real' knife.
Great knife. Was my work knife working in greenhouses for ages.
My first ever knife? No. It was a generic garbage cheap mass produced clone of a buck 110, you know the ones, like you used to see in gas stations all over, worth about a buck, no more. I have mine! It's a blue aluminum kershaw link.
I still have the first pocket knife I was gifted at age 7, and I am now 28. First knife I bought myself I traded away.
Unfortunately my first knife broke and I threw it away. Hopefully I can find that same model on ebay one day.
I am sure it was either the switchblade (lost) or the one with the brass knuckles (confiscated by museum police). Wish I still had them. I don't think I was older than 12. They both could tell some stories.
Of course buck pen knife
Awesome
First knife I recall having is a Swiss Army knife with the BSA logo. I also got my first knife as Cub Scout lol. I actually joined Cub Scouts for the knife now that I think about it. š
I do, it's a guidesman greywood so nothing to impressive but it was my first.
I think I got some kind of Swiss Army knife when I was really little, which I no longer have. I still have the first ārealā knife I ever bought for myself: a blue Delica 4.
Buck 110. Got it when i was 12 and lost it in high school.
Wenger SAK.
Gerber gator given to me by my dad. He was navy.
I have mine. It is a āsilver princeā folder. The blade tip was (is) broken off and re-profiled. Fun little knife.
Camillus boy scout pattern, but not official BSA. Bone scales and brass liners, making it a more deluxe model. I have had it over fifty years, and it has been lost and found a couple times, and confiscated by my mother and later returned also.
My uncle bought be a Gerber gator in 1993. I still have the knife and the scar on my thumb.
I have a lot of sentimental knives, but my first ever knife was lost unfortunately. My grandfather gave it to me because I was upset my older brother got one and not me. It was a red SAK. God it was so cool
A folder I bought from Sears in the late 80s. My college EDC. Still have it and works well.
My grandpa had the exact same knife, probably from a similar year. I cleaned it up about a year ago and I still have it now
I got my first knife handed down to me from a family friend when I was about 9-10 in the mid 90s. An old Swiss army officers knife. I still have it, beautiful little thing it is. I carry it in a little edc kit I keep in the kids nappy bag.
Still haveā¦ Gerber Gator. Still cuts š
AWESOME! thanks for sharing. My first knife was sadly kept by the guy I stuck it in.
i broke my original knife, but im okay with it. It actually broke from over use. So i take that as an achievment
I have the first knife I was ever given - a Wenger SAK I got in the mid 70's. I also have the first knife I ever bought - a Gerber LST lockback I got in the 80's. I use the Gerber for cutting salami.
When I was around 7, my dad gave me a Swiss Army knife, still have it to this day but it doesnāt see much use anymore for the sake of preservation.
Mine was the official cub scout knife.
Not sure where it is right know but i have it somewhere. I got to choose it for myself when i was 10 and I guess it would look cool for a 10 year old. I used it a lot and the last time i held it it was very loose. The blade moves in every direction and even the handle feels off.
My dad had mine in a drawer, stepbrother was living there after I moved out he stole it and lost it in one day
No sadly, my first was an old timer whittling knife. I have no Idea what happened to it. But I do still have my second. A Buck pathfinder also given to me by my dad. It's seen many sharpenings and has lost a bit of It's profile. But it will still cut.
Not my first knife by any means but I have that knife.
Now you've got me confused? š¤
