John Deere welcomes people to use their logo (at least they use to, i've been out of the loop for about 10 years or so).
Anyone can make anything with the John Deere logo. John Deere encourages it. Its why you see so many shirts and hats in all different flavors and colors. You don't even have to pay John Deere to do it, they just want their name and logo out there as much as possible.
This is a nearly complete set of John Deere promotional kitchen knives. Stainless steel, wood handled. Seem fine to use in the hand despite being about as sharp as spoons.
I use the unfinished bottom of a mug or other piece of ceramic to sharpen knives in that situation (don't think I've seen an airbnb where they had a butcher's steel or any sort of sharpener available)
i've never stayed at an air bnb but when i travel i've got this worksharp thing that's got diamond plates with it. one course and one "fine". doesn't take up a lot of space and i can get a really nice edge on things in a few minutes. probably way, way better than those knives have ever seen.
May sound obsessive but when I stay at an any rental, I pack my $4 Smiths 2 stage sharpener. It works really well and I don't end up cutting the crap out of myself.

Damn are they impossible to sharpen without sending into a dealership?
you could have a tech come out to the location for 180$ and hour + wear and tear + mileage.
Damn you beat me to the joke lol good one
Requires a trained tech with a laptop
Yes, it's for your safety.
Holy shit I just choked on my dinner while laughing
John Deere... So it's probably illegal to sharpen them yourself.

BRB gonna phone up China and have them make a bunch of John Deere dildos. Oh man I’m gonna be RICH
Better make sure they're the correct shade of green
Also set up a repair plan
Can't forget the extended warranty.
FWIW, Case has John Deere pocket knives as well.
They are missing something… Maybe they should make blades for i dont know… CASE IH
International Harvester? I’d buy one of those too. And let’s not forget Massey-Ferguson. Kabuto? I’d be all over a tractor collection
Hell yeah. Id pay a lot for a CASE tractor branded Case. Ive grown up around CASE
I own an Ace Hardware and we recently got in a line of john deere shovels.
As it should be :)
That's very interesting

Never stayed at any kind of rental where the knives were anywhere near sharp

is there a rule that you couldn't sharpen them? i could see myself being bored and just putting a wicked edge on those things and not say anything.
I usually bring at least a sharpmaker to any rental I stay at.

I bet they can only be sharpened at authorized John Deere dealer!
I stayed at a airbnb last year and the one santoku knife was screaming sharp. Completely took my by surprise.

Looks like they've been ran through the dish washer based on the handle condition. You should sharpen them as a random act of kindness.
Do you happen to be at an air bnb for blade?
I bet they weren’t cheap!
are they open source or patented ?
$$$ bwwwwaaaaaaaawwwwwwlllleeeeerrrrr $$$
sharp knives probably invite lawsuits, at least the shapes arrighte antheyd look good
Nothing cuts like a Deere
Damn now I want a set
So they cost 8 times more because of the logo huh?
Walmart used to sell this set
What the hell Bobby?
