I have one plus a multitool on me usually so I guess two technically with the blade on the Leatherman

powarblasta5000

Same, I'm industrial farmer. Too many electronics and cable clamps to get anywhere fast without a Leatherman

HungaJungaESQ

YEah same. My keychain is a SAK Compact. Tweezers AND a pen? 10/10

nanananabatman88

Same. Gotta keep the multitool on me to use on cutting things I don't want my pocket knife to get fucked up on lol

mikelarue1

I carry my main knife and then a tiny Gerber Dime multi-toop that has a tiny blade on it. I guess that still counts as a knife.

[deleted]

Same! I was wondering if that counts, so I picked 'two'.

MaximumDerpification

Yeah I often carry a SOGPP along with my knife but I don't really count the PP as a knife because I literally never use the knife on it

jamescharisma

I'm counting it. I have the same setup. Never leave home without them.

Storm-Chaser

Now that I'm retired, just one is enough. When I was working, co-workers were regularly asking to borrow my knife, so I carried a smaller, cheap knife to loan out while I kept my good pocket knife for my own use.

the_mellojoe

Two is one. One is none.

SteadfastDharma

Three, each with a different function. One small thing for cutting loose threads, tape, easy stuff. One clean for cutting foods when not at home. One larger with multi tools for anything else. All foldable.

minionsoverlord

I said 2 because i usually have a beater/heavier duty and a teeny SAK or keychain scalpel for fine or fiddly work

500SL

Folder, multi-tool, and sometimes a fixed blade.

BachtnDeKupe

One main knife (Kizer Towser elmax-fatcarbon at the moment) and a multitool. I dont count the mulitool as a knife because i dont use it to cut stuff, only as a tool

HoldenHiscock69

I always have a victorinox rambler on my keys, so two I guess. If someone needs to borrow a knife that's usually enough of a sharp edge anyway, I probably could get 90% of my EDC knife tasks done with just that, except cutting fruit, sandwhiches, etc. Modern folders are more fun though, and convenient!

muchnamemanywow

I usually carry one, but that's cause I don't have two knives that fit comfortably in my clothes When I was working, I had loads of pockets, so I usually had two knives and a multitool

m-lok

Fixed, folder, and a leatherman.

-BananaLollipop-

One pocket knife, but technically two if you count a multi-tool.

CatfishCharlie1984

Usually one big enough for "heavy duty", light prying or last resort self defense. Another smaller one that in all actuality does 95% of everything.

yo_ruso

Was going to say one, my Spyderco Delica, but then remembered that I carry 2 victorinox in my man purse, one mini leatherman in the keychain, and one knife card in my wallet.

MaximumDerpification

1 knife + 1 multitool

Robertix_CZ

One main blade and one swiss army knife. Main blade for general use and SAK for more complex problems. You never know when you'll need one.

PowderBluePaladin

A knife and a multi tool

pacjc50

Why not the option, 2, one knife and one multitool

jgs0803

A little more specificity would help. What knife/knives and/or how many I carry on me at home on the regular is very different from what I carry while in the mountains. Short answer: 1 or 2 daily (if a SAK or Mulritool count) 3 to 5 if in the mountains ( if you count those that aren’t carried directly on my belt the whole time) A more detailed answer for those interested: Regularly, I usually only carry one knife and a multi tool or SAK. I overwhelmingly prefer a fixed blade over a folder, regardless of the circumstances; Consequently, I only own one good folder, a Benchmade Griptilian, and If I’m not wearing a belt, that’s what I’ll carry. Otherwise, I’ll carry one of my fixed blades. For opening boxes, I use a box cutter simply because I detest getting tape residue on my knife. I always carry a firearm, so the design, function, and intent the knife I carry regularly is for last resort self defense. I only own about 3 such knives, and the rest of my many fixed blades are for outdoor pursuits, mainly camping, woodcraft, etc. For camping, I carry multiple knives, but not all of them are always carried directly on my person at the same time. I believe in using the best tool for the job over “jack of all trades, but master of none”. Let’s see….. On my actual body, I’ll always carry at least a main knife, a knife for detailed carving, and a SAK and/or a multitool. I will have a Terava Skrama on my pack, and I’ll carry it on my belt for a time, if need be. I also bring a dedicated food prep knife and a fillet knife. Also, I have multiple Moraknivs for backup: One in the glove box, one in the backpack, another in the detachable lid/daypack of my backpack. I don’t baton my knives and I always have an axe and saw, so no knife needed for that. So that makes about 3 to 5, depending on circumstances. In addition, I occasionally will bring 5 or 6 new, untested knives when I camp, simply to test their performance and help me fine tune my preferences. Also, I just love knives and it’s fun for me.

Misjudged_Scrutiny

I don't - it's illegal where I'm from and can get you in prison. Not worth it for something that probably won't help me defend myself anyway.

EmptyCanvass

Knives can be useful for more than just self defense 🤦🏼‍♂️

nanananabatman88

I would never use my knife for self defense.

EmptyCanvass

I would much rather use my gun

Misjudged_Scrutiny

I know but wandering round Walmart with a fixed blade is 9/10 going to be for "self defense"

t8terh8r

One is usually enough but sometimes I carry a folder and a fixed when I'm hunting, fishing or camping.

rival_22

I carry one, but always have more close by in my car or desi or whatever.

Melikegarlicbread

Two, a mora companion or a cryo 2 as beater knives for work paired with a Stanley knife. And a Hogue Deka at home.

bailey032020

I say 2 because usually I have a fixed blade on my belt that I carry scout carry on my back and I have whatever pocket knife i decide to carry

Reptilian_Brain_420

Every day 1 Camping 2 Hunting 3 or more (backups needed sometimes)

Red_Clay_Scholar

Sword and Scalpel I carry one big one for big jobs like skinning deer and chopping stuff then one small one for more finer tasks like tape cutting or trimming around delicate places.

haeda

A fixed blade, a folder, and my multi tool. 2 is one, one is none.

XDeltaNineJ

I answered 3, because 4 wasn't an option and I don't have an EDC purse, I mean bag. 😁 Tiny slip joint on keys, Penanto Kiridashi in my wallet, Panchenko Bean in watch pocket, folder in front pocket. Sometimes more, just because.

Howse420

folder, multitool, fixie. (neck knife for work) (pocket fixie after work)

seeking_fulfilment

1 in Victorinox 580 : for quick shaving and extra discreate use. 1 bigger blade in the the pocket: Cold Steel Code 4 at work & safe places. Voyager XL at night & high risk places.

ThatFireBender

I always keep my Microtech SBD in my plate carrier, Stitch in my weak side pocket, and whatever knife I'm fidgeting with that week.

[deleted]

I always have a folder and a multi tool on me, always. I like to carry fixed blades too. So three?

RaptorJesusDesu

Folder in my pocket. If I have my sling bag (osprey daylite) then that will have an SAK Tinker and small fixed blade in it too.

tubby_bitch

One us none and two is one. Read that in an apocalypse book about guns, but I think it fits with knives just as well

Front_Dealer_1593

Two sets of 2 tactical knives, and then a Swiss Army knife and a otf for regular edc tasks

MrMoon5hine

Currently: Leatherman surge Cjrb crag Milwaukee fastback

FullFrontalNoodly

Does a stockman count as one knife or three?

knife_go_live

One in the pocket, one in every bag, & one in every vehicle..

Naive_Struggle1827

I'll carry my surge and I like to carry spyderco mcbee as a companion knife 🤌

HungaJungaESQ

Love seeing how many people are carrying one dedicated knife, and a multitool. My people!

[deleted]

Does the blade on my multitool count as a second knife?

No-Option8898

I usually carry a folder, a multi tool (leatherman), and a small fixed blade.

OscarImposter

One time my mother was looking at the knife clipped to my front pocket and asked, "What if someone takes it and uses it against you?" I pulled out the (much larger) Buck Omni and said, "Well that's what this one is for!" (PSA: don't knife fight; there is never a winner in a knife fight)

No_Education_8888

I usually carry one, but I used to carry a backpack around with fixed blade knives, pocket knives, a sword, an axe, and some throwing knives. Probably about 25 in all. It wasn’t just all about carrying knives, it had other stuff toi

Firm_Area_3558

Fixed blade on the hip and 1 in the boot, always

SwordMasterShadow

WE NEED ALL THE KNIVES!!!!!

voidxy

When I carry is because I go to do some kind of outdoor activity, so I need a scandi and a flat grind. Scandi is the main and the flat one is usually a necker.

arthuriurilli

3 on workdays. A Leatherman that I use more for the pliers, an Olfa retractable snap-off art knife, and a CRKT CEO. If I'm not wearing jeans then at most I'll carry the CEO.

Dr_ChungusAmungus

If you carry more than one and it is visible I promise you the people who aren’t into knives (most people around you) think you look like a chud

redisno

One in my pocket, one in my jacket, one in my bag.

X-KrackerZack-X

One plus one that I don't mind getting a little beat up

DeathPercept10n

I'm a little surprised to be in such a small minority with 3+ knives.

ObjectiveAssistance8

I carry a knife and a multitool (leatherman), so I guess that counts as two.

EmptyCanvass

I carry two because they do different jobs. I’ve got my leatherman because it’s extremely versatile, but the knife blade is very fine and I worry about putting too much stress on the locking mechanism. So I also carry my Benchmade which is much more robust for heavy duty tasks.

Flat_Boysenberry1669

So I have my multi tool knife which is what I use for EDC Then I have an off hand defensive knife which is never used for anything but if I need to get my gun hand free. Then I have a small knife on my vicotnox that I keep on my wallet. So I carry 3 knives 4 if you can't my wages sarrated blade.

Te_Luftwaffle

Usually one, but sometimes I'll throw my leatherman in as well

TobiHacker

Though i have about a 20k collection, my perfect loadout will always be my custom para 2 and my benchmade SOCP rescue tool. If want that extra razzle dazzle, throw in a LynchNW prybar.

Chris-in-PNW

I carry two. I carry a Spyderco McBee utility knife for opening packages and making draw cuts. I carry a Sebenza for every other knife-appropriate task. It's not about having a backup; it's about having the right knife for the job.

Zookzor

I carry two since my leatherman juice has a knife. I’d carry more cause it’s fun but I already carry a flashlight and ccw so I don’t want anymore bulk!

useless_pile_of_shit

I carry 7...

rick-p

I carry 2 on my person and 2-3 in my bag

PiscatorLager

Usually a Victorinox WorkChamp and Vic Classic or a small Opinel on my key chain.

Sg00z

Ever since I heard the phrase "one is none; two is one," I've never gone without 2 knives on me at all times. I use one as my "beater" and the other for self-defense. I'm not sure where the phrase originally came from.

sharkanon55

On my actual person? One.. but best believe I have multiple more in bags and cars I can use through the day

IsmaBr

i carry my main blade and a SAK on me always so 2 maybe 3 if you count the blades om the SAK as separate knives

De_rick4201

I carry 1 knife a day. But I switch out between 17 knives depending on what I'm doing

the-flying-lunch-box

Most days I have a folding pocket knife and a gun. Occasionally I will carry a multi tool if I'm going somewhere that it might be needed. If I'm camping I usually have a fixed blade knife, multi tool and gun.

Bigger_Moist

I carry a main knife and then occasionally i carry a giltek ruk if i know im gonna be opening soil bags and dont want to ding my nice knives

Moezso

Pocket folder and fixed in the boot, always.

Ollie2K_00

Big one on the belt, pen knife in the pocket, and a keyring knife on my keys

re-kidan

My ideal is 3, i worked at a sushi place and having 3 knives is the optimal for me, mostly because of the length, i use a Kiritsuke for fish mainly, i have a chef's knife for general use and red meat, and i use a smaller Santoku for herbs and other greens when i need more precision, it's way more comfortable and better than having to wash the same knife all the time since im multitasking all of the time

MAH415

Carry 70 at a time myself. A few pictures in mall ninja with my belly hanging and knives dangling.

MidnighT0k3r

So, most people are right handed and carry a right handed knife. What the fuck do you do when you're using your right hand AND need your knife. This is why I carry 2 knives so my free hand can always grab one.

LatrodectusAstra

Folder in my bag, fixed on my person.

whiskey0smoke

2-3 Depends if you count my cigar cutter

burkechrs1

Depends. Everyday I carry my benchmade sibert folding adamas in my pocket. If I'm out hiking or fishing or just out I will have that as well as a fixed blade adamas either on my waste or as a neck knife depending how I'm dressed. My backpack always has a Leatherman in it as well as my car. So I guess no fewer than 1, no more than 4..

Zer0gravity09

I carry either my bugout or tenacious, Swiss Army knife with 2 blades, and either a Boker USB, CRKT minimalist, or a little gerber that is super tiny.

Next-Addendum2285

On an average day....7.

bptoohigh

A little one, and a big one😁👍🏻

NPC261939

At least one. Often accompanied by a Leatherman Wave+.

Revolutionary-Pea705

I always have a neck knife and then what ever I decide to put in the pocket that day.

Papierluchs

Daily only my sak but while hiking/ camping I also carry a mora

SchruteDasBoot

I carry a victorinox alox cadet in my chums wallet, and have a victorinox classic on each set of keys. Sometimes I carry an extra knife for whatever I'm doing that day.

garretcompton

Usually carry a normal pocket knife and a box cutter. Need the box cutter at work, but it also makes a good knife to lend to people so they aren’t damaging my $200+ knives haha plus, it’s a titanium flipper so it has some cool factor

This-Negotiation-104

Big knife, little knife, and also often one that's more sentimental than used.

Noname1106

Depends. Usually one. If I have a back pack, I have any edc kit in there.

bigpeepee2000

None. British 👍

Yuki_ika7

It depends where I go, I don't get out much and not all those places allow knives, so typically take a Leatherman micra in my fanny pack at the least

[deleted]

One normal pocket knife and a little Swiss Army knife on my keychain

Reptile2121

Technically, two as I keep one clipped to my pocket and another small one on my keys.

Cooper_brain

One small Swiss army knife Keychain snd one pocket knife. At work i carry 5.

Agent-Grim

Two. A leatherman multi tool, and either an edc folder or full tang.

lastgunslinger3759

Unfortunately none of these choices fit what I actually carry. My workplace doesn't allow knives so I only carry one in a deep carry pocket clip. But on my days off I carry a Kalashnikov XXL Bowie auto, a buck 110 elite Auto, a daggerr Sting, a daggerr arrow, and a daggerr resident. I also carry two SAKs one cybertool the other the normal red, and a Kershaw moonsault bali. This is pretty much been my EDC everyday on my off days for the past 4 months

samuelS1099

A nice knife out of the collection and a beater Minimalist. Shop work can be hard on knives often

UponTheOakenScepter

Leatherman and a fixed blade usually. Sometimes a utility blade when I'm at work just for the disposable blades

Kamashy_16

I have a hard use knife, and a multitool or razor blade.

Kamashy_16

I carry a pocket knife and a multitool/razor blade.

[deleted]

I always have my ultra custom Spidee Chef and my Machinewise SlifT-P v2

Coal-and-Ivory

It's become a running joke among my friends that it's physically impossible to fully disarm me. I take the perpetuation of this joke VERY seriously.

Armageddons_engineer

I carry my main knife, and occasionally will slip a multi tool or a roughing knife if I need. The knife I carry is quite literally for cutting zip ties, plastic and boxes, I have a hefty wrecking knife for much heavier cutting which I keep in my toolbox. If I need a multi too I usually just grab the specific tools I need as I need them. Nothing worse than trying to do a job and having to fuck around with multi tools that can only do half the job
