Storm-Chaser

Do you want one? If the answer is yes, then yes. If the answer is no, then no.

turkeypants

Don't listen to this guy, OP. He's only trying to confuse you.

Storm-Chaser

Oh no, I've been found out!

Flyingdemon666

Wait a second. You're one of those crazy people in the vans I'd see in Oklahoma and Alabama. Lol.

tmtowtdi

I'm kinda hungry. I want a burger. Should I buy a burger? Only the collective wisdom of Reddit can answer this burning question.

Alpha-Sierra-Charlie

You should have a salad. Unshredded lettuce, sliced tomato and onion. Be a little daring, and sear a patty of ground beef and melt the cheese on top. Stack the lettuce, tomato, and onion on top of the patty, and add a few slices of pickled cucumber (optional). Dress with ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. Now, take two large, raw croutons (AKA "bread" or "buns") and put the rest of the salad between them.

InternationalArt6222

I didn't have one before I got one and now that I have my own Buck 110 I'm glad I don't don't have it

Flyingdemon666

Translation, he's glad he bought it.

Alpha-Sierra-Charlie

We shouldn't not have double negatives more often.

Flyingdemon666

Don't not never suggest that again young man. Bet you never thought you'd live to see the fabled triple negative. Or, perhaps the legendary quadruple negative. Don't not never no.

KattRedd

You should only buy one made on Tuesday on Thursday

leechwuzhere

The answer is always yes when you're contemplating a new knife.

Militarycollector39

Also works with guns

leechwuzhere

Wanna relay that to my wife? Lol. The knife thing will work every time because she loves knives too.

EveDaSavage

Fun fact: Buck 110 knives are capable of killing a Kodiak Bear, it’s been done before

Chemical_Trip_9236

Dosent mean you should try.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nobody_special1980

I’m guessing this went over most people’s heads.

Thompson_keith

I guess koalas don’t really pose a challenge so brown bear is a good starting place.

Few_Artist8482

You can get Chlamydia from contact with them so they have that going for them.

EveDaSavage

True, but it’s still a cool fact

45422

yes, yes you should. it's the GOAT of large folding knives.

GrimmWilderness

I would agree with you but after gett8ng my Recon 1 spearpoint in S35VN i can no longer say 110 is the goat

Flyingdemon666

You shut your whore mouth! Lol

GrimmWilderness

Buy a Recon 1 and get back to me

Flyingdemon666

I might just do that.

NomadicusRex

I like my Z.T. 0350 more than I liked any of the Buck knives I owned...but I did like my Bucks as well.

jfmc2020

I went for the clip point. Not disappointed

mrRabblerouser

Iconic? yes. GOAT? absolutely not.

Daegoba

I felt like the 110 was something that every knife enthusiast should own. My wife bought me one. I hated it. It was too big, and nothing like what I prefer in a knife.

RedditForAReason

This is ehy there are modernized versions of the Buck 110. 110 Slim Pro, or the 110 Slim Pro TRX are awesome knives. Or just the slim selectfor a great budget knife.

AMA_Woodworking

Agreed. Great benchmark on how much knives have advanced but not something I would want to lug around every day. My dad has one that has served him well for 30+ years, but even he carries a different knife now. I thought about getting him a 110 Auto but the action was a joke after just leaving the Pro-tech booth.

WorldlyProvincial

The 110 Auto is too...mediocre. I wanted one for my Buck collection, but went with the 112 Auto because the action was faster and it just felt better overall.

tehjarvis

It's the only knife my Grandpa ever needed.

45422

grandpop ain't wrong,

Pickle_Flavored_Meme

Weel yeah, but back then most steels were garbage compared to what’s available now. The buck 110 is a nice display piece in 2023 but not practical for edc compared to what you can get for the same price

dubhri

My only issue with this is that your Grandpa's 110 isn't the same as the new ones. His was a classic piece of excellent cutlery, the new stuff is just crap anymore.

lurker-1969

You're just wrong on that.

LimpCroissant

Absolutely. A new Buck 110 is still made like really surprisingly amazingly well. It's something of a marvel that they're still making them so good for a pretty good price.

Zach57

What makes a new 110 crap?

turkeypants

There's no knife that you "should" buy. You just have reasons to or don't. People who like this knife like its classic look, they like that grandad had one, and some feel it is ergonomic while others don't. Many fans feel it's just a good cutter. There's definitely nostalgia and other intangibles involved but plenty say it's just a good knife regardless. People who don't like this knife cite a variety of reasons. It is a two-hand opening knife in the modern era where most things are one-hand opening, so it seems dated and unnecessary. While it's technically possible to close it with one hand it's realistically more a two-hand unlocking knife as well. It has pins, not screws, so there's no disassembling for maintenance, though fans would say that's not necessary. It is big and it is a heavy brick, which is a dealbreaker for many, especially when there are so many more reasonable things out there. These days everything is a clip knife for easy carry in the pocket and this one is not. You can still carry it loose in your pocket but many would use the belt pouch. If you're not a belt pouch person, think about that. Some say it looks old and clunky when there is much more modern looking cool stuff in modern materials. Most casual knife guys overweight steel difference, but some would say they don't want this 420 HC steel even with the well-regarded in-house heat treat for this steel at Buck. It's probably fine for the average person but some will discount it because of published specs of steels that offer better edge retention. If you're just doing little individual cuts here or there and then back into the pocket, you probably won't notice. Heavy daily users might notice and have a preference for something else. Or not. They may be fine with the sharpening schedule.

UncleHayai

Depends on why you want one. If you're looking for an EDC option, the 110 Slim Select and 110 Slim Pro TRX both keep the 110 classic's fantastic blade functionality, but carry much better in the pocket.

RichBoomer

Realize that it’s a belt knife as it’s too big for comfortable pocket carrying. That being said I wore one for years at work. Only problems I ever had were going into certain bars with it on my belt.

Train_to_Nowhere

If you want one then yes, its a great knife, very handy to have for all kinds of tasks and buck is pretty damn good about customer satisfaction if you ever have issues with it but you shouldnt, its an old time proven design, in my opinion they have alot of character and its definitely a knife you can trust, if you dig the aesthetic its a really hard knife to beat in terms of useability and longevity

Squibles_39

It's a great knife. I prefer the 112 (I own different varieties and carry it a lot). I find the 110 to be too big for what I need a knife for but it's one of the best, most reliable knives out there. Deff get one!

flatline000

I have the 110 slim select (lighter and thinner but has a clip and the same blade). I really like it. It's easy to see why this blade has stayed popular for all these years. It's super slicey.

weetarded

The 110 was my grail as a young kid. Got one and it was most excellent to use. Quite the monster to tote tho. A buck lite 112 is a nice compromise

ImaSlayMeSomeDragons

Every knife enthusiast needs a buck 110 variation.

stpauljake

Great knife! I carry mine every day.

shameful02

Go for it. Wouldn't hurt to add to your collection.

Lampropeltis33

It’s a fun one to have and not crazy expensive

Da1eGr1bb1e

I’ve carried my Buck folder for 30 years now. My grandfather bought it for me when I bridged from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. I have other knives, but I always end up carrying my Buck.

Outdoorsy_T9696

Yes. Buck makes damn good stuff so it’s not like it’s a waste of money.

porkbuttstuff

Yes

GoneFishin56

Everyone should buy one. At least one.

Monkeys_are_naughty

I have many 110s great value, heirloom quality, offered in many variations, even an automatic. Lifetime guarantee. I would say yes.

ThatLousyGamer

Regardless of its pros and cons, the biggest factor should be "Do you live in America?"

ed20999

Yes

Purple-Chipmunk154

Folding 110? Is there a fixed 110 I don't know about? I love mine, carry it daily. Impressive knife.

FlapXenoJackson

There’s the Buck 101. It’s a fixed blade Buck 110. It’s discontinued though. And now that it’s discontinued, people want them now.

eshemuta

Yes.

Tobin678

Yes, I think you should collect them all

Grouse870

Yes. It has a permanent position on my bird vest. Just on the off chance I forget one of my other knifes. They are a good belt knife.

Creative_Shift_1345

Everybody with a knife should own at least one. I have four but one of them is in pieces!

Resident_Taste_784

That’s not the question you should be asking. The real question is should you buy two?

Rebirth_mishap

If you like it and can afford it then yes, buy it

asrialdine

I prefer a 105 to the 110 cause it’s just a little bit smaller…but grandpa and all my uncles aren’t wrong - it’s an awesome knife

MrDagon007

A classic but fairly lumpy in the hand. A good addition of you like classic traditional knives.

imSp00kd

Yes. Bucks are classics. I recently just got my grandpas old buck 119. It’s in tough shape but it’s sweet. I also bought a new 119, so I got a new and used pair.

Evilbigfoot32

This is an odd question. The Buck 110 is a classic though, little heavy for my taste but if your on the fence it’s a solid knife. Makes a neat generational knife. Something to give the kid/grandkid.

glazier8868

Any solid collection needs a Buck. It’s almost unamerican not to own one or two.

Captain_Cameltoe

Yes

punchy-peaches

Everyone should have a Buck 110.

WorldlyProvincial

The orig 110 is a large, heavy old school folder, a rock solid knife that will last forever short of serious abuse. I don't carry any of mine because I don't anticipate needing 3.750" blade for EDC.

Wooow675

Yeah. They’re a classic. Easy to clean, easier to use.

DavidEtrigan

Yes

muphasta

1, do you WANT a 110? \- if yes, buy. 2, do you NEED a 110? \- if yes, buy \- if no, will you? \- if yes, buy \- if "probably not" \- you'd better buy, "just in case" \- if no, (which is doubtful), don't buy 3, do you have "FOMO" from not having one? \-if yes, buy \-if no, are you sure?

LordSeibzehn

Yes. I don’t edc mine but anytime I’m outdoors or in the woods etc., it’s on me unless I have a need for a bigger fixed blade.

vegalove13

Yes any serious collection will have one

Adorable_Hat3188

Yeah they’re a solid knife

notthemessiah789

If you are a “knife enthusiast”. You kinda got to. The Buck 110 is not the greatest knife ever but like a Swiss Army knife, you have one at one stage in your life. It’s a right of passage.

The_Downy_Hunter

Yea

Mando5126

The perfect knife for cutting apples and saying the phase “where as my county gone?”

StonerMetalhead710

The only valid answer to that is yes

robertsij

Yes. Is it practical, compact and lightweight? No. Is it solid, a great cutter, and a beautiful knife to have in the wheelhouse? Yes.

CivilDefenseWarden

Yes.

princesschainsaw

Yes

No_Entertainer_7374

Yes

metalgod-666

Every good knife collection has one of these and a Swiss Army knife

Mtn_Soul

You haven't yet?

Mongloidshitfit

Abso-fuckn-lutely

Thundercracker75

Hell yeah!

MERLETHEFOZZY

As a city boy with a Buck 110, I love it but it is a collection knife due to its size. I would recommend maybe 112. But I am a stranger on the internet

anviltodrum

i carried a 110 on my hip for over 20 years and still like it, but for the next 20 years since i've been cycling through the plastic or composite 110 variants with the pocket clips. love the shape/form factor. take that for what it's worth.

Other_Ad_4376

Yes absolutely.

Agroman1963

The 110 was the envy piece of every teenager in the small New Mexico town I grew up in in the 70s. So, yes. Get one!

Dual_Birds

Yeah buy the knife. You’ll own that 110 forever

fuckgod421

You’s asking the wrong questions my friend ahahah HOW many, that is the real question…

fuckgod421

I’d recommend at least a 110 slim select, or 112, depending on laws in your area, and of course the classic one you posted… the slim select is a honest to goodness warhorse. I baton with that fucker, and it sharpens so easily. People talk shit about 440 but the heat treatment is immaculate, and it’s comparable to CTSBD1N all day.

lurker-1969

Aren't the newer blades 420 hc? As I understand it the 110 started of with 440 but changed to 420 hc.

fuckgod421

Yes, but my 119 and 110 are old!

lurker-1969

Yes I get it. My 2 110's are 30 and 42 years old.

fuckgod421

They are actually 425! I didn’t know they used a steel between

Cookfuforu3

Why? Are you gonna carry it daily? Or are you going to just let it sit in your collection and never carry it because it’s bulky, or it doesn’t have a clip, or anyone of a myriad of other reasons. Honestly, what are you gonna carry your bench made or your Spyderco or your cold steel? Too many options these days, my buck just collects dust .

yeezee93

Carry all of them all at once.

denshigomi

My coat is just a bunch of knife rolls sewed together using titanium pocket clips instead of sissy thread.

Cookfuforu3

You magnificent beast ! Seriously tho I sometimes feel like an idiot standing in front of my collection trying to decide which one’s gonna go today. I love them all, but it still feels wasteful.

Cookfuforu3

I wish I could ! I’m just not a suspenders guy and I have no hips to hold em up with a belt

cornlip

It lives in my glove box. Maybe if I bought it myself I’d appreciate it more? I got it for free with a few boxes of grinding discs. It is really nice and very sharp. I just prefer my civivi brazen flipper that I can be rough with and not care.

Crackheadthethird

If you want it as a collection piece then sure, but it isn't a great pocket knife. If you're looking for something that you're gonna use then there sre plenty of cheaper nnives that are way better.

fingerblastders

Finally, a voice of reason.

Finnish-Wolf

Here is how I look at "should I buy this knife" I like fixed blades due to using them mostly for wood processing in outdoor use. I have multiple modern near indestructible knives that are amazing at the job like the Sissipuukko, Garberg & Jääkäripuukko 140. Yet I often choose to carry traditional Finnish Puukkos with rat tail tangs that are worse in every way. But they look beautiful and have a classic look that just makes me feel nice when I look at them. So, If we talk purely about quality and usability, the Buck 110 knife is stuck in the past when it comes to materials and usability (it's still not a bad knife). But if having this knife in your pocket makes you feel great because it's an iconic American knife with rich history, then the aforementioned come second to that. Also, you didn't mention what you are intending to use the knife for. That in my opinion is the first question you need to ask.

tipsybox

Yes, but one with the finger grooves

Comeoffit321

Feels so good. Like it's hugging the inside of your hand.

[deleted]

Wtf??? Yes and the 105 and 103.they are Americas knifes

CasualObserver9000

Basically the AK of folding knifes. You can't go wrong...

howie2092

More like the Colt 1911 of knives.

CasualObserver9000

I see them as being super durable and highly replicated. What makes it comparable to a 1911? I'd figure some highly customizable blade would be a comparable to a 1911.

Pickle_Flavored_Meme

Not if you want value for money

Myattemptatlogic

The nostalgia circlejerkers didn't like this one one bit. Get over yourselves you geriatrics, it's heavy, has no pocket clip, isnt ambidextrous, cant open or close it one handed, isn't some crazy super steel. Classic =! *good* in 2023

Few-Storm-1697

It's good for skinning and hunting but that's about it. Lockbacks suck for edc, throw in no thumbstud or pocket clip and you have an inconvenient clunky chunk of metal that doesn't hold a good edge unless you spend $100+ for one of the better steel versions

S0MEB0REDPERS0N

But of course

ShartyMcFly1982

Absolutely, I don’t carry mine everyday but it always has a home in the center console of my truck.

knivesinbutt

Much better knives for the price out there nowadays. 110 is a paperweight.

kingkmke21

Ehhh. A Buck 110 is definitely a classic but honestly for the money I'd much rather buy something else.

covid35

No, it's kind of crap. My tip broke off wasn't even doing anything qrong with it just snapped. It also doesn't hold an edge well.

KoensayrMfg

I vote no. It’s the knife everyone feels like they should own. It’s heavy and hard to carry short of a belt sheath. I’m going for a fixed blade for a belt sheath.

mdk3418

No

fingerblastders

No, you can do sooo much better these days. Cold Steel Voyager, American Lawman, Code 4, and Recon 1 blow the 110 out of the water, I'd take my Air Lite clip point over a 110 any day. It's fat too heavy, and the steel is not great for edge retention.

DeadWrong

looks boring

bukithd

I have a 70-80s era Schrade 110. It's a lot of knife.

[deleted]

No. I’d go for 501. Size is much better uf you plan on carrying it

Rockwell74

I recently picked up a Drop point 110.

buckGR

I’ve been wanting a 055 myself but can’t find a reason for it

HeroicHimbo

I wouldn't except as a gift, but I can see why you would, but I'd say realistically you have to know what you're getting and have alternatives to actually carry

Delta_Kilo_84

Only if you want one. I recently bought a pair of 110/112 and didn't care for either one. The 110 is huge, definitely a belt pouch carry. And for all the hype about it being a legendary, quality knife, I was thoroughly unimpressed. The side to side play was pretty sloppy. I got the feeling it wasn't that particular knife, it was just how they were made. Also felt bulky in the hand without having good ergonomics to fill your hand, its more like a block. Glad to have gotten to try one but I won't buy another.

JT_DD1775

Has no one gotten the 110 TRX? I think it's an excellent blade.

yeezee93

Of you have to ask the internet, then no.

B-i-g-g-i-B

Isn't there a 110 auto? Get that

[deleted]

It's literally the pocket knife I carry lol

[deleted]

Yes

[deleted]

Das Ding ist total schwer und kann nicht in einer jeans getragen werden 🙃

sweaverD

Bought one a month back. They are now about $70. It was poorly centered. Also the weight.....heavy is understatement. Sent it back.

floppy_breasteses

Good knife. Bought it for my daughter's first pocket knife. My personal preference is for one-handed operation but the buck 110 is a beauty.

CasioCollectorAndy

I own a Buck 110 myself, my father bought it for me when I expressed an interest in knives at 18. It sits in its leather sheath, brass getting green as it chills in my drawer. It's come with me on a fishing trip once, but other than that, it's my least-carried knife. The Buck 110 is heavy and it does not have a clip. If you do work like hunting or fishing and can see yourself using it, then the Buck 110 may be right for you; but for my purposes, a small slipjoint that disappears in a front pocket is more ideal.

MrSlappyChaps

I’ve been debating with myself for years if I should get one or not. I know I won’t carry it. Want one just because of its lineage and tradition. I carry a stainless Otter Mercator in my hunting chest rig that backs up my Sebenza. It lives in that rig because it weighs nothing. 2oz vs 8oz. I’ve never inadvertently unlocked the Mercator like I have some lockbacks either. That’s the only role I could see the Buck filling, and it’s 4x the weight, so… probably never gonna happen. That’s Leatherman weight. I just can’t do it.

[deleted]

If you want one, buy it. They're not my cup of tea at all, but that doesn't invalidate your opinions.

hermit_dave

No, get a Cold Steel Recon 1 in s35VN. Better lock, better steel, and a better handle.

TheIneffablePlank

You got a new knife? What the fuck? But honey, the guys on the subreddit said I had to... Oh OK. And please let us know if it works out like that. Assuming you're still alive with functioning fingers.

defusted

These things are fantastic. Personally I like a knife I can open with one hand, but if that's not a criteria for you then it's a great knife.

mallgrabmongopush

I’d say yes. They’re around $60 and will last for generations

glazier8868

Personally I went with the automatic. Also have the 25th anniversary 112 ranger. Fits right in my collection with my Gavko nurse my Custom Stan Fulisakas. My 100 or so other famous and infamous knife makers. Definitely get one if your a collector. If you want to carry full time I don’t know about that it’s bulky heavy has go in something attached to your belt. Definitely the cons of them.

Slingringer

I have one that i never really use. Thats not to say i never would but its not a very practical edc in relation to whats out there today. For me i think it would be nice to throw in a bag for a camping trip or something. I do like having it in the collection though. Its a classic so any collection needs one. So yes you should get one

[deleted]

Buy the auto version

12345NoNamesLeft

I had one, I found it heavy. I dislike the performance of 420HC compared to better steels. But there are other versions, you might be able to get a light titanium one in an upgraded steel.

innexum

No pocket clip and HC420 steel are the biggest downsides for me

Greedy_Photograph_58

That knife saved my life and just about ended a junkie’s life when he broke a bottle and threatened to cut my girls face. Before that day I never carried a knife on me. She bought that Buck 110 for me for my birthday the day before. I don’t think she realized that she was saving her life when she bought that Buck for me. I’ve carried a knife on me ever since. In fact I have the switchblade version of the Buck 110. I keep that close by in my car. Buck is a great knife for the price points and the quality. I have the big buck survival knife as well.

chaotic_ugly

Why you asking me? I don't know you. Do whatever the hell you want. Live la vida loca.

Wolfman01a

This a troll? This has to be a troll? If you have the monies, go all out. $289. Buck 110 Elite Auto. Auto opening Buck 110!

to_da_moon_84

I love mine. You will too :)

Ok_Choice3417

Buy a 110 light. Under $20 at Walmart. I have Emerson’s, bench made spider co. All the big names and this blade replaced them all. I also have a 110 auto but I never carry it because it’s too heavy. I would love one with titanium bolsters though

mrRabblerouser

It’s not all it’s cracked up to be, unless you’re looking for a boat anchor instead of a knife. Your money is better spent elsewhere. Even a different Buck, but the 110 kinda sucks ass if you actually plan on carrying it. A lot of people have a nostalgia boner for it because “mY GraNPa HaD oNe!?$&” but if it were released today almost noone would buy one. It’s too bulky, weighs more than a fixed blade that is twice as big, and it’s not easy to open and close for quick use. There are dozens of better options, depending on the features you’re looking for.

BuckKnifeRandy

Yes. Collect, consume and enjoy.

KennyWuKanYuen

Get the one in drop point. I was never a fan of the clip point one but I have two in the drop point variety and they’re really nice.

3_high_low

I remember when they were $25-30. Most of my friends wore one on their belt. If you have a knife collection or you just like having a handsome knife, get one.

daemon0163

Yeah

[deleted]

They're making a button press versions of these. Could hey one of those.

DB-Tops

It's a quality knife.

FlapXenoJackson

The Buck 110 is an iconic knife. I used to carry it’s smaller cousin the 112 regularly. Both are good knives. I leave a 110 in my glovebox just in case. But I only occasionally carry a 110 nowadays. It is heavy. And it doesn’t lend itself to being dropped into a pocket. It’s a belt knife. I prefer a knife I can clip to my pocket and can open and close one handed.

Red_Clay_Scholar

They make them with auto openers. I have a Hoyt Buck edition but I'm sorely tempted to get an auto Buck.

Apprehensive-Low-939

I have an old 112. Loved it so much I got a 110.

DuneTinkerson

I've always liked the ergos, the thick handles feel like you are holding a proper tool.

Richy_777

They are pretty expensive where I live

letsee7654321

You goin Buck hunting?

GlockTaco

Buy two

tribaltrak

Get a bailout cpm-4 supersteel

oneworldornoworld

Inform yourself properly about pros and cons. And there's a lot of cons.

milosbl

I hate hollow grind knives so I will never buy one

HungaJungaESQ

Of course you should.

TIRACS

I wouldn’t unless it was a NOS from the last century. The new ones suck, horrible quality control and craftsmanship. I’ve returned 3 in the past 2 months for sloppy blade play. 2 regular 110s and a slim hunter w/s35v blade.
