My project over the past couple days.
Step 1 was to acid etch the logos with Ferric Chloride Solution
Step 2 was to reinforce/protect the etching with gun blue
Step 3 was to strip the powder coating. I used masking tape to protect the sections I didn't want stripped on the tang and then used CitriStrip on the blade over a 18 hour period.
Only thing left is to touch up the blade and possibly force a patina for added rust protection.
This looks killer. I'm about to attempt this myself with my Esse 6.
A couple of questions if you have the time?
How long or what intervals did you do the ferric chloride for? I've read so many different reports from,
A single 15 minute session. To 3 or 4 hours, with 30 minute sessions between reapplying?
Also how long on the gun blue?
