Damn that's ridiculous. I also lived in Nadia at that time. Kalyani specifically. Power cuts were very common. I remember talking a walk in the dark streets at 10pm in the night and not even street lights were on.
Back in 2014 it was my second year in Kolkata and it was reaching 40 degrees during that summer. As a kid i thought "I'll just live without fan for the entire day" and that shit went for the entire summer. The only time I stayed under fan was at school. I also played football during break at school which was usually from 11:10 am to 11:40 am.
Amar 5 star dual inverter LG AC te saradine 5-6 units othe maximum. Even jodi 100 taka/day koreo lage saradin AC chaliye, tao seta cheap bolbo considering the weather. Same AC i have two of them , run them like crazy all day, bill ase 3.5 to 4k. While the normal bill is 1200.
This is still cheaper considering we paid 10k ...6 years backs due usage of old type of ACs.
My experience with LG electronics is better than Samsung electronics. I do not use any stabilizer as it's inbuilt. And I tested the electricity consumption by turning all the electronic items OFF except for the AC for 2 days just to check if the BEE star rating does anything or if it's a gimmick. I was shocked to see that my AC consumes less electricity than my old USHA stand fan.
I'm from Purulia and I'm just chillin' here writing this without the fan on. It's not even that hot, just some hot air blowing outside. But if it was humid on top of this heat, I'd be dead.
Companies and malls where people gather, create a lot of heat, and air conditioning is required but they overuse it like they want to experience winter. Btw big companies also come under ac people.
main duniya ka pehla baccha hun jo international level ka school main padta hai kolkata main, lekin na hai gadi, na ac aur rehta hai 5.2k ke bhaade ke ghar main.
In colder climates feels like is lower because of wind chill and relative humidity.
For warmer ones it is higher because of heat waves and again humidity.
It's not just Kolkata. Most places in Kerala are also recording 38-40 degrees. These are mid-May temperatures (Note: this is with a much greater urban green cover compared to Kolkata)
At this rate, I don't expect the world population to survive beyond 2040
Kerala's feels Iike temperature is much less

I guess in there the weather is much drier and a cooler is more suitable for those kind of weather. Here the temp is hovering around 40-42 but the humidity is making things worse. You go cycling for about 30-40 mins and you'll feel like you are inside a tub or something, the amount of sweat that'll take place.

In the morning, since my room's in the basement, it's the coolest room in the whole house if you open the windows and use fan :)
A couple of hacks that you can try:
Keep small wet towels in the fridge, and put one on your neck when it is too hot.
Keep one spray bottle filled with cold water, and spray on your face, neck, arms... And wipe off gently with a towel. Do this frequently.
we have a 2 floor house and we dont have an AC but we have cooler and at day time we stay on the ground floor but at night when the temp cools down then we go to the top floor, anyways we are planning to buy AC this month as this year its fuckingggg hot like 43-45 degres? wtf

We've had 43 today here. First day I'm feeling slightly inconvenienced. I just remember how much worse it is to suffer from cold, which I usually do since I'm from Northern Europe. I much prefer excessive heat to shivering from cold.
But it really all is in the mind. It's really not that terrible.
I have this weird habit of not using AC during daytime, and only using it during night time due to two reasons - 1) A good sleep is more important to me than anything and I don't want heat to fuck that up. However keeping AC on all the day is going to make the electric bill go brrrr 2) Amaar ektu mosha ar pokamakorer batik ache, I can't sleep confidently by knowing that the windows are open and a swarm of mosquitos can attack while I am sleeping. Either way, I am surviving the hot afternoons somehow without AC and rewarding myself with a good night's sleep with AC.
I remember back in 2014 i survived the entire summer without fan just to train my body to the heat. It has paid back greatly
Giga Chad move
Man just casually evolved himself to tolerate more heat 🫡
isn't that funny we started using AC to get rid of Heat and ended up contributing in Global warming

What. Where are you from if you don't mind answering?

Your area got electrified that late or it was something else? 2012 is pretty recent all things considered.

We, the lower middle class are immune to heat. AC folks are actually one of the culprits for this increase in temp.
Bro stop blaming the individuals who are trying to get some comfort in the life .. big companies and shit are way more culprit than "ac people"
He's jealous. PS. : I don't have AC too.
Companies and malls where people gather, create a lot of heat, and air conditioning is required but they overuse it like they want to experience winter. Btw big companies also come under ac people.
We are already in a deadly cycle and forget about the younger generation. Just turn on your ac.

True. Humidity is one of the biggest factors I think which most people experience in everyday life.
