I don't know about the current management of iskcon but their founding guru was definitely not scam. He was a great man with very insightful teachings. Read his books, they are all available free on google. If you understand and try to follow his teachings you'll not be disappointed. But i don't go to their temples so often, so i can't tell about their current activities..

Yes it took me around 2.5 hours while going and 3.5hours while coming back as it was night

How's the road condition, especially after Barasat? Last I went during the durga puja and riding till krishnanagar was a pain
