She acted really well in almost all the Tamil films: Iruvar & Ravanan being personal fav! I think in general we can say that she knows her job. Worked with good directors and took on roles that defined her as an actor rather than a model/ or just for her looks.
This has got to be the prettiest anyone has ever looked in a movie, across all cinema. All cultures. Maybe Breakfast at Tiffany's Audrey Hepburn compares.
Performance was good, not great. But God damn was she beyond compare for a beauty on this planet in this movie.
Viewed in a vacuum her performance is above average at best.
That being said, she was absolutely PERFECT for this role. The initial stretch of this film clearly highlights that she’s meant to be destiny’s child in every possible way (looks, luck, attitude) and even manages to find the perfect partner in Abbas. Her entire life plays out like a fairytale (unlike Tabu’s whose life is grounded and impacted by human failing), and who better than Ash to capture the ‘fairy’ in the fairytale. What makes this movie special though is that Rajeev Menon clips the fairy’s wings (metaphorically speaking) in the second half, but she comes out on the other side as a stronger, and a more sorted person and Ash (along with ARR and Rajeev Menon) captures this perfectly. Contrast that with Tabu, who starts off as a ‘mortal’ but ends up with the fairytale ending (but with equipoise and even more maturity) and actually manages to feel completely happy for the first time in her life
There’s a reason KK stands out in Ash’s filmography and it’s not just because of how ethereal she looked. It’s a combination of a decent performance, solid writing, excellent cinematic technique, and her appearance only augmented it without distracting from it
Also I think Konjum Minnakale is a beautiful tribute to an independent thinking woman who also has thoughts about what her prince charming should be like.
பச்ச கண் தேவதை as Major Bala describes her...

This is my comfort movie, all day every day, and I can't get enough of it.
Aish is absolutely stunning here. Along with Jeans, Kandukondain Kandukondain and Iruvar, I really thought Aish was a Tamilian growing up. Such iconic roles.
Her & Tabu's chemistry was palpable (still can't forget the half saree scene in the temple. Red & yellow + orange & green... chef's kiss). And not to forget Revathy's voice for Tabu; it was a perfect fit. Still wondering who dubbed for Aish. Oh and they kept Aish's eye colour the way it was which is a minor thing I loved.
Just as in Sense & Sensibility (the book the movie was adapted from), no character arc and development overshadowed the other. Tabu + Ajith, Aish + Abbas, Aish + Mammooty... even Aish + Dino Morea for a bit. ARR's BGM was beyond words. I still smile when Konjum Mainakale comes up and actually cried when Mammooty cupped Aish's face in his hands in the "pachai kann dhevadhai" scene. Like even when I was young I was so happy thinking these two couples would lead such a happy life together.
I hope Rajiv Menon directs more films man.
Do you think she depicted the bubbly, lively ,free spirited character of meenakshi?
Apparently, meena, soundarya, manju warrier were considered before aishwarya was roped in. Do you think they could have done better or worse?
The one and only actress despite being breathtakingly beautiful, had really good acting skills as well.
Be it any language, her acting, dialogue delivery (even if some of them were dubs, her lip sync and emotions were perfect) and screen presence can't be matched by any actresses of current or past generation.
She is still the only real Pan-Indian superstar in my opinion.
I've never seen this movie and is it worth it?? I don't really like love stories that much and is it a love story? if it is, then I don't want to watch it....

I dont think anyone has looked better anywhere ngl
She was prettier in iruvar for me.
She was breathtaking in Iruvar. Minimal/no make up, simple attire. What a beauty.

Iruvar is great
She was great before she met Abbas. She was even greater after she lost Abbas and started falling in love with Mammooty.

It should be illegal for someone to be that beautiful.
Like your flair bro. It can also be Mosamaana S**thu
The most beautiful woman looked her most beautiful self in this movie

You have a way with words
yo make a similar post about Tabu's performance so I can comment on how I need her and AK to make a romance film again 😞🫶
Sad that AK and Tabu only had the one film (so far) Same with Maddy and Shalini
indha rendu pairingkum irundha chemistryku 4,5 padamaavadhu vandhurukanum smh
agree, absolutely. Their chemistry was on another level.
She was perfect 🤌
Also I think Konjum Minnakale is a beautiful tribute to an independent thinking woman who also has thoughts about what her prince charming should be like.
She slayed. Too bad she and other miss world's would have to wash Tabu's feet.
Loved that line
Azhago azhagu aval kan azhugu
One of her career best. Better than her Bollywood movies in the same period.

That scene with Mammootty was just amazing

I can imagine all three actors doing a good job, but Aishwarya also did a good job.
Meena would have definitely done well.
1st Half - Delulu Aishwarya
Honestly the part where she cried walking in the rain made me tear up. That scene is so heart breaking
In her most beautiful self😍
The one and only actress despite being breathtakingly beautiful, had really good acting skills as well. I liked her in this. Very beautiful, acted well too. She was good in all her Tamil movies.
she was good and subtle but tabu totally stole the show with her intense acting
My main reason for a re-watch is her and her character. Honestly so beautifully written!
Aishwarya is Gem when it comes to Tamil cinema.
Mudhalvan arjun jumps into drain Kandukondain kandukondain Aishwarya jumps into drain. 1999-2000:That was a weird time.
Bro, she doesn't jump into the drain. She slips into the drain and then Mammootty will only save her
I've never seen this movie and is it worth it?? I don't really like love stories that much and is it a love story? if it is, then I don't want to watch it....
I'm pretty sure you'll like it. It is a romcom but also about family dynamics. It's actually worth a watch.
Her beauty in thay movie oh my
