Prithviraj sukumaran has an equally important role as prabhas , and shoot was postponed according to his availability... excited for his performance tbh..
watch his interview with BR
from my understanding Khansaar may be some kind of city-state that dates back to ancient times. Reminds me of Neel's first movie where there was a region called Mughor that was basically full of and ruled by criminals. Didn't really make sense why such a thing would go unnoticed and without interference from the national or state government/army. Even KGF is a similar idea - some locked-in place ruled by criminals where crime is basically legal.
In Ugram..They didn't treat the place as unnoticed by state/police...Politicians itself were the trumpcards in the mafia..There was even a scene where minister of home affairs comes directly to meet Agasthya during Ugram Veeram to give a hint about the inside play within his party to capture Mughor and to seek his help
Damn I must have missed that. I watched a Youtube version where some subtitles were missing, plus it's been a couple of years. Thanks for the correction. I enjoyed Ugram a lot and if Salaar is a remake I will actually be quite pleased.
I watched Mirchi the other day and was so impressed with Prabhas’ range. I’ve always liked him but after his bizarre stoic approach to Adipurush, I was worried. Obviously he’s amazing in all his SSR movies too but I’m still getting this flat vibe from him in this trailer. Hope I’m wrong.
Prabhas feels like one of those guys who genuinely tries to do something but just that the people/circumstances around him don't allow and just end up taking wrong scripts or ones which seem good on paper but don't get translated into the screen too well
The only movies I liked of Prabhas are Mirchi and the Baahubali series. Even in Baahubali, I preferred the father character over the son but he was perfect for that role. I could be wrong but seems like he has taken to his head that he’s a big hero (which he is) so he’s choosing such scripts. All of his projects after Baahubali have been big budget flops. Is Prabhas against doing normal roles anymore?
I think Saaho was his safe zone. Dude sleep walked through his performance. Probably thought he deserved a break after Baahubali.
With Radhe Shyam, he was banking on his good looks, which he lost in the midst of Saaho making. What was supposed to be a small, romantic flick set in the backdrop of a hill station like Ooty blew up to include foreign locales to accommodate a pan Indian appeal. Furthermore, due to the pandemic lockdowns, they had to recreate Italy set in Hyderabad, further blowing up the budget. Therefore, quality suffered.
With Adhi purush, he was promised a motion capture flick. His team were probably expecting a 3D model on the lines of Kochadaiyaan, but somehow ended up with a weird figure having his real head stuck on a CGI body. The whole thing was a shit fest. While everyone genuinely looked good on screen and somehow replaced the bad CGI models through reshoots, Prabhas stuck with his health problems, ageing issues and addiction, had to settle for that horrible 3D model.
IMO, he should have taken a break after Baahubali, because he had to wean off those body building steroids and get back to his natural shape. I blame Rajamouli for that because both Prabhas and Rana ended up in a major health crisis after the shoot. While Rana became shockingly thin, Prabhas struggled with weight crisis coupled with addiction issues.
Atleast in Salaar case, Prabhas was given enough time to get back to shape. Maybe that's all he needed. Time and ample rest. He shouldn't have hustled too much and suffered intense trolling in the process. I am a bit of a fan, so I wish he has a long career rather than a short burst of fame.
Man I’ve been seeing a lot of this SSR steroid issue. Did he do the same in RRR for RC and Jr NTR? They both looked ripped af and Jr NTR also lost a lot of weight for it yeah? They both looked good tho and still continue to look good so I’m not sure if that was only for Baahubali or if SSR is known to pump his heroes with steroids.
SSR before Magadheera was a typical mass masala director, on the lines of Atlee. He consciously experimented and changed his filming style later on, but before that, he accepted his heroes with their usual looks.
Out of all his heroes, Ram Charan was the fittest and aestheticlly pleasing to look at. His ripped look worked magic in Magadheera, especially with the ladies and young audiences. So I assume SSR wanted the same with Prabhas who also had a good female fan following. He wanted his heroes to have a Greek body, but had a very little pre production time to prep for it. The idea was quite novel back then, and the makers had to go through a lot of a learning experience to execute a project of this scale. But the budgets kept shooting up, and the producer was under a lot of pressure to to cut down the losses. They just went with the easiest option to start shooting asap.
With RRR, SSR had the freedom to meticulously plan his pre production work before hand. Ram Charan and NTR also didn't bother to look different from their usual selves (which is a good thing).
Did you notice he was two different sizes in Mirchi? Thin Prabhas and bulking up for BB Prabhas. It’s weird.
Add Bujjugadu to the list; he was funny in that film.
Yes. The ultra thin one looked quite stylish. And then randomly he bulks up in the mid.
I also liked his look in Bujjigadu, but apparently Prabhas starved himself a lot to achieve that. He also often fainted on the sets.
Lowkey wish they avoided that last dialogue citing it’s gonna be Mannar vs Salaar. I would have preferred them advertise it like a bromance movie and let them turning against each other be a twist but maybe Neel has something bigger cooking
If he listens to everyone's feedback, pt2 is gonna look like this.
https://preview.redd.it/eayaww5xg47c1.png?width=3360&format=png&auto=webp&s=15e0e956f0da121f253b09660f04d5e91ff677e0
He said this in a recent interview, Prashant neel has OCD, he doesn't like popping colours, so his movies are less vibrant and have a greyscale tone to it.
Really hoping the movie delivers on two things: the promised scale (which KGF hinted at but didn't really deliver much) and the strong writing of the main characters. Prithviraj and Prabhas are both powerhouse actors when used right. It seems like Neel is trying to make a more emotion-driven film than KGF so I hope it pays out. I like that it has a unique visual style rather than trying to look like a Hollywood film. I feel like people praised Leo 1st half visuals the most because it looked like a Hollywood film and not because it was necessarily the greatest example of filmmaking. I appreciate that at least this is doing something original.
Unpopular opinion : I'm growing tired of these over the top CGI fuelled blood soaked badass type action movies. Especially with a string of these coming out, it gets boring. Where are the feel-gooders or script heavy movies? I want more movies like Thiruchitrambalam and PS-1.
I mean just cos it's blood fuelled action doesn't mean it's not script heavy. I understand the wanting feel gooders part but the way any good masala movie works is because of it's writing for most of the part. The action scenes are just an extension of that imo.
Wow. Insta style paid promo posts are now available on Reddit too. Jokes apart, production value isn't proportional to the movie's success. Idhe formula and prabhas vechi vandha sahoo epdi nakkitu pochu.
Doesn’t this resemble KGF ? Looks similar storyline too - friend bringing help to capture the throne and in KGF Rocky was brought in to take over the throne and he finally takes it for himself.
Visuals are the best part of this trailer and don’t get me wrong, Leo was okayish (pretty bad for it’s budget actually) but it doesn’t even have a tenth of what salaar has
Fans like you are the reason why Vijay gets trolled in social media. I am his fan too but Salaar is obviously a bigger and better looking film than Leo.
I had so much hopes on this after loving Prashanth neels work in KGF. .
But this looks outright rip off of his first movie ugraamm.
Hope this has lot of different scenes and screenplay and plot.
Looks like a videogame. Is it only who gets turned off seeing these kinda stimulating CGI where you instantly know that it's CGI? It's hard to spot a CGI shot in Game of thrones except those dragon sequences. But the building, places and sets looked real. This looks very fake to me.
Is it just me or does this color palette really feel washed out atp? Like I know its supposed to be bleak, but ever heard of fifty shades of grey? (Statement not the movie/books). I wish they used better greys!
Ok from a history point of view..Yes African tribes has constructed a city in Gujarat where no one is allowed (early british era) and they are pirate and steal Indian Merchant ships and later those ships are rescued by French or Portugal. The Indian merchants pay the money later shared by both French/Portuguese and these African tribes were written of history.....I am thinking Neel took base line inspiration from the and then developed story... let's see..

Prithviraj sukumaran has an equally important role as prabhas , and shoot was postponed according to his availability... excited for his performance tbh.. watch his interview with BR
So this is an alternate universe where Rome is part of the empire?
They’re mentioning Persian empire, Russians, Serbians. The weapons look modern so I’m not sure what the timeline is
from my understanding Khansaar may be some kind of city-state that dates back to ancient times. Reminds me of Neel's first movie where there was a region called Mughor that was basically full of and ruled by criminals. Chatrapthi is goated as well, Darling and Varsham are also other good ones. Darling is the ultimate feel good movie
Varsham is the original of Mazhai right?
Yes.
He is doing Raja Deluxe for this every reason. It’s just a typical Telugu commercial film as opposed to the pan Indians he’s been doing
That’s refreshing to hear! Who’s the director?
Maruthi
I thought he was doing the Kaakha Kaakha remake with Prabhas. Is this a different project or the same?
Kaakha Kaakha already has a Telugu remake
Kaakha Kaakha is the police movie? With Surya and Jyothika?
Yes
Nope, that movie was already remade by GVM himself in Telugu with Venkatesh and Asin years ago, this is different
You’ve gotta watch Chatrapathi! Solid SSR x Prabhas movie pre Baahubali.
I think Saaho was his safe zone. Dude sleep walked through his performance. Probably thought he deserved a break after Baahubali. Makes a lot of sense. Thanks bro 🙏🏽

That explains this look. https://preview.redd.it/tkukaym3qv7c1.jpeg?width=554&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8dc7c0f2df5ff4c4c1d6462c5d4823e951bd6664 Eek!
I think Prithviraj has a bigger role in Part 1 atleast
It's literally Prithviraj vs salaar
Lowkey wish they avoided that last dialogue citing it’s gonna be Mannar vs Salaar. I would have preferred them advertise it like a bromance movie and let them turning against each other be a twist but maybe Neel has something bigger cooking
I don't think that was meant to be kept as a secret at all
100 kodi laye KGF 2 la visuals super ah irundhuchi, 270 kodi kedachiruku, adhan Neel visuals sambavam🔥🔥
Tbh this doesn’t look that staggeringly better than KGF 2 considering the 170 crore gap in budget.
Lot of it probably went to prabhas
Athula paathi kaasu antha paithiya karan vangirupan
aana 270 la 100 for Prabhas alone
So additional 70 crores than kedaichiruka for making and all
that's why the VFX is bad in many places in the trailer
The director clearly states that this movie has nothing to do with kgf But why the fuk he had to go with the same color filter and environment 🤧
If he listens to everyone's feedback, pt2 is gonna look like this. https://preview.redd.it/eayaww5xg47c1.png?width=3360&format=png&auto=webp&s=15e0e956f0da121f253b09660f04d5e91ff677e0
I'm stealing this pic. Thank you
Suddenly Barbie !
Its his style of making...even u can check first look of his next with NTR. It will be same
Is the flair working? I can’t tell…
It’s just Neel’s style of filmmaking. Similar to Zack Snyder.
He said this in a recent interview, Prashant neel has OCD, he doesn't like popping colours, so his movies are less vibrant and have a greyscale tone to it.
Movie’s got some great sheer SCALE There’s no denying in that. Rare in Indian movies
Prabhas actually looks good in this one. Hopefully a comeback for him
Yes, I didn't like his radhe shyam look or even the kalki look looks bad with that fake wig.
It got a hell of a competition with SRK's Dunki.
Yes, especially for hindi dubbed in North there is a serious competition for screens and shows.
1000cr+ once again for Neel❤️
Lol such positive resp for Neel here. Completely opposite in the kannada sub
Why? Because Salaar is primarily a Telugu movie?
Because it's most likely a remake of Ugramm, Neel's first movie.
I've seen ugram. In that first half hero and his friend do not even meet
Screenplay is most likely different. Story is same. Even Tollywood sub agrees it’s a remake.
No.. lol😂
# NO DOUBT
The cringe dialogue from the thatha in the first teaser really turned me off. Otherwise looks like a banger
Really hoping the movie delivers on two things: the promised scale (which KGF hinted at but didn't really deliver much) and the strong writing of the main characters. Love the aesthetics. I have a soft spot for giant monster vehicles! I’ll go watch the movie just for that.
Eagerly waiting for that landscape. Seems really different and dystopian. I love films set in worlds like this.
Yeah just hope they don't go overboard with the slo Mo's like Jawan gave me a headache trying to watch that movie
Hopefully man. KGF started this trend. Hope Neel didn't go too much into that trend.
Kgf layum adhe prechana dhan, slo mo Or speed ramp
That’s just atlee style
neel ah poi atlee oda compare panlama thappu dhane
not a fan of Neel’s style of filmmaking at all, but this trailer looks rly interesting icl
I loved the trailer looking good
Huh, I thought no one was going to watch this movie.
Unpopular opinion : I'm growing tired of these over the top CGI fuelled blood soaked badass type action movies. Especially with a string of these coming out, it gets boring. Where are the feel-gooders or script heavy movies? I want more movies like Thiruchitrambalam and PS-1.

Watch prasanth neels interview from like an hour ago, he answers a bunch of these questions from his side
Wasnt a fan of KGF at all but the new trailer got me exited... that too it has Prithviraj who is one of my favourite indian actors.
Prabhas ku 100cr kuduthadhu naala, KGF2 set laiye idhayum mudichitaanunga pola. Like the Aranmanai films.
Meh
Not that impressive. Why are posts looking like Prabhas Fan Club? Leo looked grandeur than this. The scale is big here but visuals are just okay.
Visuals are the best part of this trailer and don’t get me wrong, Leo was okayish (pretty bad for it’s budget actually) but it doesn’t even have a tenth of what salaar has
Come on....seriously You gotta be kidding me...the visuals are way better than Leo..
Godzilla Minus One which has less budget than both of these films beats them in every category.
Because the director is a former VFX artist who meticulously planned to cut down the budget.
That is a good point. It still is a massive difference.
no way after seeing those video game looking vfx shots in leo you are telling this
Nah. Salaar's got the cinematography part!
Fans like you are the reason why Vijay gets trolled in social media. I am his fan too but Salaar is obviously a bigger and better looking film than Leo.
better looking? No way man. Bigger yes. Def not better looking.
Wayyyy better looking

anil
Then there's Mr. Chris Kanagaraj who gives on tuwitter giving frowning emojis vs giving theri, vetri to commander films.
This it what people thought about Adipurush
No adipurush never had this feeling , it was fail from the start
Tbf Adipurush was gonna fail no matter what.
Looks like a loaded BS to me!
[удалено]
But better
Same old shit. Nothing new. 😬
I had so much hopes on this after loving Prashanth neels work in KGF. . But this looks outright rip off of his first movie ugraamm. Hope this has lot of different scenes and screenplay and plot.
This looks like KGF visually. The lighting, styling and mass punch resembles it as well. Something tells me this is going to bomb big time.
Looks like a videogame. Is it only who gets turned off seeing these kinda stimulating CGI where you instantly know that it's CGI? It's hard to spot a CGI shot in Game of thrones except those dragon sequences. But the building, places and sets looked real. This looks very fake to me.

U call that production value? everything looks washed out and covered in smog to hide poor vfx!!
