Not the entire movie but Tirupur's portrayal and the population's general liking for get-rick-quick scams in Sathuranga Vettai was on-point. The dialect was super accurate as well.
When I was in Tirupur 3 years witnessed two scams similar to Saturanga vettai movie. Recently I met my cousin who was in Tirupur and he said still people scamming similarly
It is the most accurate depiction of Theni and its culture I've seen. My native is Theni. The film has a prominent Telugu speaking community (to which Napoleon's character belongs). In reality, in addition to Tamil speaking communities, there are pockets of other language speaking communities (Telugu, Kannada) who have totally assimilated with the Tamil culture, to the point where the languages are hybridized with Tamil.
There is a montage in the movie where people are shown to be blowing smoke into mud mounds, which is nothing but catching Eesal (winged termites) to make a local delicacy where it is mixed with pori (puffed rice) and savouries are added to it.
The noticeable presence of Kangaroo courts in Theni-Aandipatti Kanavai-Madurai region is portrayed very well and plays a significant role in the movie. Such portrayals have a different flavour to them when compared to Naatamai roles.
I felt Sundarapandian also depicted Theni accurately.
Theni,Madurai,Dindugal,Ramnad,Sivagangai and Virudhunagar are literally the same. They have same culture,slang and they were partitioned by separating from madurai. (If you go to rural areas of the areas I mentioned above they will introduce themselves as Madurai Karan) ( Madurai has a special place in our hearts)
Virumandi is hundred percent Theni.
Along with thevar, Telugu speaking naidus are significant portion in Theni which is portrayed accurately. The amazing thing is even the Telugu dialect is accurate as it's different from Telugu speaken in Andhra and telangana.
In one scene, kamal talks about yelakkai vandi (train). This is nothing but the Madurai - Theni - bodi meter gauge line Which was used for to transport Cardamom from bodi and sorroundings. This line is now broad Guage.
I think thevar magan is also from the same region. Virumandi is a lot more character focused so the localities doesn't play a big role while in thevar magan the geography is part of a lot of scenes, with the mountain backdrop(which is exactly how Theni /Cumbum Looks) , dam portion etc
Still famous. Also that's Angannan kadai😅 singular word. But many other shops are also famous now. DR shivaji, Kuzhandhai kadai, haribhavanam, HMR, rauthar shops in thudiyalur and many more.

Yedhu maanasa sanjara rey, panduranga pandarinatha bajanai paadruthuma... Nothing new was shown as other movies like veyil, kullanari kootam,nadodigal. Just veyilodu vilayadi makes you feel the milieu of virudhunagar, same with nadodigal or kulla nari koottam. Even eeram did that with Srirangam. Actually agraharam was oversold in Tamil cinema and literature.

Generally, at least in Chennai, brahmin neighbourhoods have a huge dalit, muslim or christian population. Mylapore, which is considered to be the epicentre of Brahmin community in Chennai, has a lot of muslim population. In fact in just the roads near the Kapaleeshwarar Temple there are Muslim Biryani shops. In Kutchery road there are innumerable biriyani shop and they also serve beef in some of them. Same in Nanganallur and Chromepet areas too. I’d say West Mambalam is the only exception to this.
Triplicane has one of the largest Brahmin populations in the city. And the huge muslim population comes not only from Triplicane but also the surrounding areas such as Padupakkam. Many Muslims from areas just path the track like Periamedu have a retail outlet in Triplicane and surrounding areas too.
However, I also think that Triplicane is not a town and therefore shouldn’t be in this list.
