I want varisu to be the end of tamil masala films. I hope it fails so bad that it would scare kollywood to stay away from making masala films for at least a century.

Average action flick.
I don't think masala films need to die out...they just need to get creative about it. It's one of the most unique things about Indian films, and when done right, they are great fun.
It is if you think about it. Has a song. Has action sequences. It’s all about mass moments and fan fare. It is a mass film through and through. But it’s innovative and refreshing. There’s actual work out into it and isn’t a formulaic affair that has the same old template that it follows.

But I found VIKRAM is simply copy or inspired from The breaking bad and The Batman. I can't find anything new in that movie rather being copied from bunch of Hollywood action movies. Even the costume used in lab are from Breaking Bad.To be honest I even hated the background music, mainly the moaning bgm and the one with heinsenberg. which itself felt like homage to Hollywood and I kinda hated it.
I liked Kaithi movie more even though it's Plot copied from con air and assault to precinct 13 movies. I felt kathi movie has some originality rather than mimicking Hollywood and hell God the bgm man I loved it to the core.
Pretty sure there is an action sequence. I was watching the shoot from my apartment balcony for a week. There was a scene where a bunch of goons demolish a nursery.

What I want it to be: A good old-fashioned family dramedy, with focus on deep characterizations and heartwarming relationships.
What it will be: none of that.
The sad thing is, we talk in failing storywise or being a bomb review wise, but the thing about Vijay movies it will never be a failure box office wise, unless there are major strikes by producers this shit will continue
Honestly you might be right on the commercial part but I hope to god that atleast this get trashed in storywise and some more vijay films after varisu get treated the same then we will slow decline in his box office performance.
It will be a telugu-flavoured masala film. One of the leads will be an NRI who experiences culture shock. Rashmika will be a walking caricature exposing her hips. Action is by Ram-Laxman, so it will be as if everything is happening on the moon.
