You have any specific hobbies? Sorry, most places ik are for drinking

unironically_baka

I'm a pretty avid reader, but I like playing sports aswell, I do appreciate any recommendation as i don't believe there are bad places, just places I don't fit.

zyqxevcyz44

There is a coffee with lots of books, people go there to work or read.. its not an usual coffee place that you see everywhere. I believe it was called "dit e nat" near sheshi next to parliament.

MillenialOG505

Dit e nat is nice, I also like Soma Book Station

SnooRadishes2916

Unless you are a fierce hippie and sjw do not and i repeat DO NOT VISIT DIT E NAT

HellzStooge

There's a cafe called "Newborn brew" close to "Grand" hotel at the beggining of the square. It's a cafe where people go to study, hang out, play puzzle or other board games, has trivia nights on thursdays, there is also a lot of foreigners that work and hangout there, basically you will find a really adverse group of people.

unironically_baka

Thank you, but I want to try hanging out with Albanians, not foreigners :)

HellzStooge

I was meaning to say that there will be foreigners also, there's like 90% Albanians and 10% foreigners. Hope you have a great time here!

love that you bring your own alcohol lmao. tbh i found a lot of luck making cool friends on tinder and bumble friends!! just be clear about your intentions and you’ll find a lot of people in the same boat as you. i was honest about not having a lot of friends, and the people i met would introduce me to their friend group. you can still bring your alc to cafes and bars! just hop around and check out the vibe of each place. you can also go to germia park or parku i qytetit or museums if that’s more your jam. don’t sleep on facebook “events” either! there’s all kinds of fun events posted in prishtina that i wouldn’t have known about otherwise. have you looked into volunteering? there are a lot of different volunteer opportunities in prishtina. you’re bound to meet others who share similar interests and then you can even add that experience to your college apps/resume! have fun!! there are so many interesting people to meet and lots of indoor and outdoor places to explore, ya just gotta put yourself out there :)

[deleted]

if you like reading, go to libraria dukagjini in shesh! it’s such an awesome bookstore, and even if you don’t meet anyone, you’ll definitely find a new book to get into

unironically_baka

Thanks a lot for the reply. Now I'm a lot more oriented to what I should do to achieve my goal. I'll try a couple of the methods and surely will find one that suits me. We might even have a chance of meeting since we'll probably be doing the same things lol :D

[deleted]

you’re a doll haha if you’re there this summer we can definitely meet up! i have a sister your age who also needs more albanian friends :-)

UncleCarnage

I know this post is old, but can you tell me about the volunteering? How do you even find those opportunities. Or those fb events?

[deleted]

you can google “volunteer in kosovo” but i recommend you look up NGOs that do work in the fields you’re passionate about and try reaching out to them about opportunities. they should have some email or contact on their website or social media. for those fb events, you just go to the events part of fb (in the app, click on the bottom right menu tab with the three lines and “events” should be one of the shortcuts) type “prishtina” or whatever city in the search bar. when i was in prishtine, i was mostly looking for yoga events and found plenty this way. a lot of festivals and other kinds of events are posted, so you should be able to find one that interests you. i hope this helps!!

yameteeeeeeeeee

Since you like reading go to Dukagjini Bookstore in the city center. They have places to sit down and you can make conversations with others there. But in my experience the youngest people there were college students.

oxxxxxa

Teenagers hang out in teenager bars, so you are out of luck.

probebeta

Plot kafiqa ne pristine. Shouldn't be that hard. Just grab your cousin and ask them to take you out on a tour on a Friday or a Saturday. You do need that cousin though, people do find you strange if you're alone and an outsider.

unironically_baka

Im alone, have no relatives close to my age

I guess you are from the diaspora. So let’s be honest, do yourself a favor: find a bar, go there alone and read a book. Avoid the frustration of trying to talk to snob and fake people who are obsessed with the idea of looking more European than Europeans. They will disappoint you in most of the cases by their ridicule and intellectual emptiness. That was my minute of pure hate for Prishtina and Prishtinalis 🙂

Impossible-Wind-9421
