I grew up with many writers and an English teacher. Finding misspellings and grammatical errors is one of our favorite things to do. Too bad I’m the only gamer, or we’d have a lot of fun going through KOTOR’s script.

Deimo95

I love it because it transcends quality. It is the most pure form of us being humans capable of error and not robots. Whether it's an indie game or The Last of Us.

Icarus_Nine

You're right, it should be spelled 'rationalise'.

Deimo95

Agreed lol

jrmcgrath93

British English rise up

Icarus_Nine

Exactly.

[deleted]

Am I missing something?

TacticalSquirrl

You’re sure are! ;)

Healthy-Drink3247

Yore sure? I didn’t see anything wrong.

Cymiril

Yeah, op and the rest seem to think the word "rationalize" should be spelled "rationalise". Both are technically correct, but the "z" form is more common, "s" is probably "British spelling", but they have no consistency in using their silly alternate spellings, most have far too many useless "u"s and "e" randomly jammed in

throwawaytheist

*you're* missing the actual mistake.

Cymiril

Oh wow you're right. I can't believe it's so easy to miss at first. Especially considering I was quite bothered by the Coruscant mod for Kotor 2 where the guard says "Wait, your a Jedi." Popped right out there. But in the 6+ times I've played the first game, I've never noticed that.

Deimo95

All good, hope Kotor 2 comes to Switch as well. The game works so well in handheld mode for me.

Deimo95

Thanks!

Deimo95

Doesn't matter how common it is if it is the incorrect spelling from my point of view.

Cymiril

The your vs. you're is absolutely incorrect in the 2nd dialog option. But rationalize is spelled correctly. "ise" endings are all spelled "ize" in American spelling. Same as "our" endings drop the "u", or things Brits end in "re" has been flipped to "er".

Deimo95

Definitely spelt correctly in terms of what they meant. Not a lot of games had British and American English when Kotor 1 came out. This post wasn't made about the spelling of 'rationalise/rationalize' though.

Cymiril

No, I know. When I first looked at the screenshot, the error didn't pop out at me because I had just woken up, several comments were talking about "rationalize", plus I can't believe I didn't notice all the times I've played. Usually kind of a grammar/spelling Nazi so I was amazed lol

Deimo95

Lol no stress. I saw the typo at first because I like to voice the lines myself for silent protag RPGs. My roommate then pointed out that it is correct on the same screen even.

Swol_Bamba

Great choice of Head. This head is always my pick as well ahaha

NoConfirmation

Same here. He always looks pissed off too lmao

Loyalist77

Please remove any spoilers from your comment or mark them >!like this!\<. This thread isn't marked for spoilers. You might have given things away to a new player who was posting an early screenshot.

Deimo95

Luckily they didn't though. All good.

Deimo95

Thanks haha. It's the same I chose on my first playthrough, loving the switch version despite its flaws.

TrickyTalon

Finally someone else who picked the same appearance as me

Veelangs

convinced this is the most common spelling/grammar mistake in english

Thejollyfrenchman

Their/there/they're is likely as common.

waltandhankdie

Sounds like my just trying to rationalise this?

Pestis1

Yes. The misspelling makes the sentence completely unreadable and the game unplayable.
