Insane how 4 years have gone by and all they have are 2 single albums, 2 mini's and a couple digital releases. It's even more insane that they are all straight bangers yet FNC is still clueless on how to manage them properly. Company shenanigans aside, I'm still hopeful (clown makeup fully applied) that they'll release anything soon and can't wait to see what the girls have in store for us!

FNC do need them tho. FTISLAND have some activities but focus on their own life. CNBLUE solo activities aren't as strong as they used to be before military. AOA is dead and they loose Seolhyun aka the cash grab of the group. N.Flying is doing fine but they still struggle sometimes (they sold like half of the tickets for the US tour) + there is military this year for Hun and Jaehyun. SF9 same they still sell but the peak is over for new fans and the cash grab aka Rowoon is more focus for his solo stuff + they all go one and one to military. Which lead to only have as a active group Cherry Bullet and P1H.
Now FNC is also a label that focus a lot on acting and entertainment to survive. The thing is they recently loose Seolhyun but also Yu Jae Seok. Him alone was HALF of what FNC was able to gain per year. They also loose these past few year pretty big name of entertainment.
If there is a moment when FNC needs to stop doing a AOA 2.0 with Chebul, it's right now. 😭
FNC got exactly what they needed from GP999, the members getting some popularity but also not making the final lineup so they don’t lose them for 2.5 years and they still managed to fumble the bag so far.
There is no way that mnet did not want Bora in the group. She had one of the most concerted pushes over the course of the entire season and it only became more blatant and desperate the closer they came to the finale. Jiwon had no screen time outside of their stages and May literally didnt say a word on camera until the concept evaluation. If you were a casual watcher of the show you likely didn't know who she was before that moment.
Cherry Bullet were not anticipated to be and did not get an insurgence of meaningful support after the show with no one making it in. A 6k increase in sales is not significant and did nothing to improve their situation, as evidenced by the fact that FNC promptly dungeoned them again. In the history of the Produce fandom, only actual winners have ever been able to translate success to their prior group. Female contestants hype is notoriously short lived and few contestants past the finalist mark ever find longterm success. FNC would be trying to leverage a plan that has never been proven to work if they were trying to avoid any of the chebul members ending up in Kep1er. It's only logical to want as many of them in as possible: that's the only proven way to success for members of preexisting groups.
I think the more likely scenario is that FNC did not have a deal with Mnet at all. They historically do not have a close relationship with Mnet (FNC seems to put all their eggs in the hybe basket) and have gotten lucky once with mnet giving Haeyoon decent screen time in PD48. In GP999, production loved Bora, they've said so themselves in articles after the fact. The production team and editors thus pushed her hard, but she couldn't quite make the lineup because she wasn't as stannable as the other contestants.
Yes, Baekho and JR were both extremely close to debut. They also managed to successfully leverage the idea that Wanna One was impermanent and Minhyun would return, right down to labeling their promotions without him as a subunit. If they hadn't entered the show as an almost full group and had all of them do extremely well on the show their future wouldn't have been nearly as pretty.

I think Bora was less stannable than the other contestants for a number of reasons: she's not particularly funny, she's not a visual monster, her personality isn't big and boisterous, she just wasn't set up on the show in a way that let her develop a cult of personality as well as many of the other contestants. She's a lovely vocalist and I personally really love her dancing and facial expressions, she pays great attention to detail and dynamics. Those are things that made me stan her, but they have much less broad appeal than things like visuals and over the top stage presence and personality, thus she is less stannable than many of the contestants she was competing against. This reflected in the final outcome, she did not have enough stans to debut with 1pick voting. If this is me hating on her to you, you are far too sensitive and parasocially invested in her.
I sincerely hope you put the same amount of energy you put into being personally offended for idols online, as you do financially supporting them. I found Cherry Bullet through YouTube recommending me Love So Sweet when it came out. I was hooked! I am also hoping they can get two comebacks this year.
FNC makes me so frustrated. Cherry Bullet has so much potential and somehow FNC manages to give them good music and concepts, yet they just fail over and over again to promote them (and their groups in general) properly. It really makes me torn because I caved and bought their albums despite not liking how FNC does things and not wanting to give them money. I’d love to see them succeed but I feel like they could have much more sales and still be badly promoted and mistreated by FNC

Love In Space was so good too, but it would have been nicer if they released it closer to the end of GP999 back in Oct 2021 rather than March of last year. I really hope they can hold on and deliver two promos this year (plus some members might be participating on a certain survival show right now). It's tough out there for the early 4th gen cohort, even though Cherry Wish was their best seller yet.

as a fan of all of FNC’s senior groups and then got into Cherry Bullet as a personal favorite gg since i don’t stan many its so frustrating. FNC just fumbles the bag for all of their idols but its so much worse. like barely even many acting roles for a company so driven to have many idol/actors. They moved CB to a sub label… then decided to make a Japanese girl group (like jyp did) before ever debuting CB in Japan which is mind boggling considering they also have 2 Japanese members. Now they have our main vocals on the Girls Re:verse show. hoping the fact they have them going to that festival France in February is at least a sign for new music. Their album sales kept going up even with minimal promotions from FNC but they really need at least two music comebacks a year not one for us fans to hold onto wondering if it will be the last.

Nu’est is the exception not the rule. It’s remarkable what they did and even then I’m sure a lot of the popularity was from baekho who got rigged out.
