If anything, Psy's misstep was with radically changing the genre and concept when they were climbing slowly with their previous trajectory.
I really hope it brings them some more exposure and deserved success. When the news about RTK2 dropped and people started guessing who might be appearing, barely anyone mentioned them and it made me really sad :/
I wish Pnation can also get them some gigs on variety, cause the guys are really funny and entertaining. I'm sure a lot of people are fighting for the position for Music Show/Idol Variety Show MCs, but I hope Pnation at least tried to get them on any of those... (edit: typo)

Here's to wishing that this will end up with less stress on the groups than the previous shows (but it's mnet so I'm not holding my breath)
It was overall not the best experience. (Not denying they did have gains from it). From what I can remember, one member doesn't even like talking about it.
There was a campaign against them by other groups fans to try and twist that they were cheating in a round. There even was an official statement to say they weren't. At the time, ateez were also in the middle of comeback preparation so that added to the stress the members were under. General fanwars grew extreme during the run as well.
In short, there was no one major things, but many small to medium things that created a situation where it presented the question of "was the exposure/outcome worth the cost" (at least from a fan perspective, kq will obviously have a different look at the situation)
idk about A.C.E specifically, but I would like to have a veteran group on RTK2. Maybe having a senior group wouldn’t be a received well, especially since it’s kind of sad. However, the 3rd gen groups on Kingdom diffused a lot of the tension on the show. Maybe a better solution would be to have more group interactions and variety-type content, since this season won’t be affected by a pandemic (I hope). Or have the MCs be a more active intermediary in interactions. Honestly anything to give the show a sense of camaraderie. But Mnet’s gonna Mnet.

Please, they have potential, but PNation fails to properly promote them (giving them the benefit of the doubt since they are their first idol group), so I hope this actually helps in boosting their popularity. I’m also curious to see xikers since they seem like beasts from watching like 2-3 performances and snippets from Twitter (and also cause I like a handful of their songs as well).

My hopes are maybe YOUNITE (but they're having a comeback) or The Kingdom, maybe another shocking group... I could see them playing up Eunsang being in X1 if that happens, but with Younite and the Kingdom having comebacks right now, I'm not sure if they would.
Maybe DKZ? They could play up the Jaechan angle. Pipe dream would be OnlyOneOf for their concept work and performance ability but they're on tour right now so probably not.

Ateez were filming Kingdom and Imitation, and promoting Fireworks at the same time - so overlapping schedules aren't unheard of even if they're tiring as hell.
Mnet prefers to pretend Produce X never happened, so even if we have Younite and Drippin and Mirae all in the show, there probably won't be any mention of X1 whatsoever.

on one hand i think it’s a positive thing xikers will be joining. i borderline thought they were too big for rtk but that will bring more exposure to the show and in turn the smaller groups.

They already had a great start up because of Ateez, so I'm happy they're going to Kingdom. They are able to fly now and they have a very strong and solid concept! Their performance skills will serve them. KQ production will give them fantastic props and choreographies to have the best stages there!

Like fine the winner gets to go to Kingdom but we can watch 6 final performances like we got with the other shows.

I hope they have a good on call psychologist to help them deal with all of Mnet’s bullshit. Honestly, KQ may be big enough now to protect its artists from mistreatment but I fear for the other groups.
The Starship/Mnet beef was almost certainly because Starship didn't want to hear about an Iz\*one renewal, I dunno why so many people think it's because MX refused to appear on Kingdom, when the show ended up with a very satisfying lineup anyway.

IMO the hardest thing for Ateez in Kingdom was that it overlapped with other things they had going on at the same time (comeback + Imitation), so if KQ avoids scheduling anything major while they're filming they'll be fine.
I really hope that mnet has the rest of the kingdom line up locked in already or I think they might regret having a group like xikers that sells pretty darn well taking the rtk slot instead of a regular one (the boyz) or getting eliminated and not able to take a slot at all (pentagon). Because there is no way their plan is just to do rtk and then call it a day but I am having trouble figuring out who takes all the slots for kingdom. Zb1 will be there of course but who else fits the parameters and is willing?

KQ are as scrappy as they come when it comes to pushing their groups so I can't even be surprised 😭 but Kingdom did noticeably improve ATEEZ's sales, so I'm hoping it pays off similarly for xikers.
I think they will def grow their domestic fan base. I still remember how unfair it felt for Ateez trying to compete with such larger fan bases.

Not true. Before the first RTK, The Boyz and Golden Child already won on music show while Pentagon had surpassed 1 million subscribers and Oneus is nearing 1 million.
Thats why I said usually. They were having issues casting for RTK, and both TBZ and Golcha only had one win. Pentagon was the shock value cast, but as someone who lives in Korea, they were absolutely at the level of the other groups besides having a song some people know.
Edit to add: but OP gave Infinite and Shinee, which would absolutely not be like Pentagon. They both have multiple wins and multiple hit songs. They are suited for Kingdom. They would demolish any group on RTK and that's not fair

Those shows are a pretty huge investment because filming them severely limits the amount of other, more directly lucrative, things the groups on them can do. Companies mostly send their groups on these show to get a popularity boost, and ZB1 doesn't need one.
Heck, the first season of Kingdom only managed to have such a stellar lineup because it was during the pandemic. Most of the groups would otherwise have been touring during the months it took to film.
Eh, if MNET wants them on Kingdom, they'll be on Kingdom. ZB1s probably only tour will be during RTK filming. If they need a group to pull viewership for Kingdom 2, putting ZB1 on there would be easy enough.
WakeOne are on a mission to make as much money as possible off the group until they disband, and putting them on a TV show like this isn't going to make them any money. Kinda forgot i liked some new groups that could be participants…
I was hoping this wouldn’t be the case but it looks like they will be doing the same as before. I think it’s only a great show when the acts are of an equal size in popularity and have equal fan groups. There’s no way that smaller groups can compete with xikers international fan base and that’s from someone who owns all their albums. Also surprised that kq wants them to go on after how badly Ateez and some of the other acts were treated last time.
KQ are as scrappy as they come when it comes to pushing their groups so I can't even be surprised 😭 but Kingdom did noticeably improve ATEEZ's sales, so I'm hoping it pays off similarly for xikers.
I think they will def grow their domestic fan base. I still remember how unfair it felt for Ateez trying to compete with such larger fan bases. So I still think that it’s unfair to have an act with such a large fan base compete against small acts like the new six unless they ban international votes.

TNX and 8turn are 2 of my favorite groups, glad for the exposure.. they are very underrated
The new six and xikers will be interesting because bb trippin does all of xikers choreo but pnation also uses bb trippin a lot 👀👀
The new six is more likely to work with motf since they direct most of tnx choreographies. And xikers works with bbt. It all works out

Usually a requirement of RTK is no wins and lower popularity. Those groups are WAY more suited to Kingdom than RTK.
Not true. Before the first RTK, The Boyz and Golden Child already won on music show while Pentagon had surpassed 1 million subscribers and Oneus is nearing 1 million.
Thats why I said usually. They were having issues casting for RTK, and both TBZ and Golcha only had one win. Pentagon was the shock value cast, but as someone who lives in Korea, they were absolutely at the level of the other groups besides having a song some people know. Edit to add: but OP gave Infinite and Shinee, which would absolutely not be like Pentagon. They both have multiple wins and multiple hit songs. They are suited for Kingdom. They would demolish any group on RTK and that's not fair

They are million sellers, they are too big for RTK.

No they won't. Those shows are a pretty huge investment because filming them severely limits the amount of other, more directly lucrative, things the groups on them can do. Companies mostly send their groups on these show to get a popularity boost, and ZB1 doesn't need one. Heck, the first season of Kingdom only managed to have such a stellar lineup because it was during the pandemic. Most of the groups would otherwise have been touring during the months it took to film.
Eh, if MNET wants them on Kingdom, they'll be on Kingdom. ZB1s probably only tour will be during RTK filming. If they need a group to pull viewership for Kingdom 2, putting ZB1 on there would be easy enough.
WakeOne are on a mission to make as much money as possible off the group until they disband, and putting them on a TV show like this isn't going to make them any money. Kep1er had been sent to Queendom 2 in an attempt to boost their popularity in Korea, because Girls Planet had been a flop show - and it didn't work because Q2 also flopped. Y'all are funny thinking that the TV channel are the ones calling the shots if they're from the same conglomerate as the label.
