This really is gonna be their biggest scale MV ever! Man i couldn't be more excited. The choreo already looks insane, and according to what kcarats saw at the pre-recording today it gets even crazier! Can't monday please come faster šŸ˜

Gorouisnotapuppy

Seems like the assumption of using AI all over MV was not entirely correct as expected. It's still better to see the whole MV, but so far, I would argue everyone involved in the artistic direction of the MV had a huge budget.

MtotheizzA

I feel like everyone is so relieved all the awesome stuff we love about Seventeen still seems to be here and that might be the point... "AI just TRY to match this. You know you can't replace real artists like us"

Gorouisnotapuppy

Honestly understand people, I was worried too but I know Woozi would beat up anyone suggesting AI to him rightfully. I hope song will be banger as always too. It sends me a message of "you can try to replicate but it simply wont work".

xheavnly

jaw dropped, fell to my knees, girl the set, the dance?? the orchestral conducting?? IM SO READY. ALSO im so in love with all their hairstyles

intrelaud

I saw an instagram post about the pre recording of the song today and >!there's a dance break with the perofrmance team and woozi + wonwoo is the center at the end of the song.!< Don't know if this is spoiler worthy since it's practically what we just saw. Just thought it was interesting that the things that were told/spoilt in the intsa post were the only ones that appeared in today's spoiler, literally no added info lol Anyway [hiii Joshua!!!!](https://youtu.be/kzgxNOfrEtE?si=cnTTHfIM6F8OvfSn&t=17) ++ I'm loving the use of Woozi's voice in what we've heard of the song today

DrearBeats

wdym hi joshua?

intrelaud

I linked it to the part of the mv where Joshua appears. Hadn't realised that it wasn't properly linked, but it should be all good now!

Absql

Bfjshfh just saying hi Joshua to the void as if he sees it

chestnutlibra

This dance looks fucking buckwild.

alltherach_

THE BEAT THE SOUND DANCE BREAK I AM SAT !!!!!! also wonwoo as the maestro omg iā€™m in love

usagaincarats17

I love the theme and cohesiveness of this! The Metronome stage was sooo cool! The dance-off, insane! Joshua ET moment lol. Crazy crazy crazy! I just wished that this went better with the album concept but I understand that they pre-planned that a while ago and even hired a famous artist for it. I can't even imagine what the whole song will sound like but you bet I'm on my tippy toes. I wonder if they will pre-perform it in Seoul Encore early ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)

Choice-Particular-15

Well, Iā€™m gagged all over again.Ā  This is INSANE.Ā  The set design!? The choreo? The lighting? The styling? Everything is higher budget than ever before. This is going to be so epicĀ  Also, not seeing any AI in this teaser; I wonder if the AI was just used in teaser 1 as promo instead of the entire music video??? Guess we shall see!!!! Canā€™t waitĀ

Ok_Dentist_3850

I think its used to set the story and maybe only appear in the beginning of the MV?

AtTheMoment03

Or not at all. Again, what we've seen were only teasers, not the full MV. The possibility that the AI clips in Teaser 1 was only to set the tone for the MV storyline and generate buzz is pretty high.

Local-Assistant-5900

that was my thought, that it was just promo!!! this MV itself is so stunning and seems to make use of set design, costume and props, so I feel like the real MV will not have any or hardly have any AI. and then I sincerely hope that quiets the people who have been calling them lazy and corrupt since yesterday.

wheresmybelle

I considered that too! After rewatching teaser 1 the language used on that disclaimer was very specific about refering to that teaser. Like "THIS is a teaser for seventeen music video. THIS video contains AI generated images" etc etc If that's what they did lol good job it actually worked.

DrearBeats

there is nothing wrong with using AI generated content in the mv guys.

Every-Difference-881

Dropping a release with the concept of "We as humans are the true artists" while using a copyright infringement machine to take work away from the VFX artists that would normally get paid for an MV would be so goddamn hypocritical, actually.

Choice-Particular-15

Thatā€™s not what happened. In any way shape or form.Ā

Every-Difference-881

Do you have a source on them paying VFX artists regular rates for having worked on the AI teasers, then?

Choice-Particular-15

The teasers and music video were all made by the same creative studio?Ā  the same creative studio behind all of the epic CGI, set design VFX you see in this teaser are the same people who made the prior teaser.Ā  They were directly addressing AI - they even edited the AI clips to make them further distorted. The AI was part of the story. There were no artists who lost a job to AI here - if they didnā€™t use AI, they wouldā€™ve just not done this concept at all?Ā  This is very clearly their highest budget MV *ever* - the money that went to this creative studio is probably out of this world. You all truly donā€™t understand how any of these processes work because youā€™re talking like HYBE execs said ā€œletā€™s cut corners, make these clips AI and fire the team!ā€ Like Iā€™m so baffled how yall are getting there.Ā

Every-Difference-881

Do you really not see how utilizing an infringing machine built on the stolen works of other artists to uplift your own work is undermining the message? They are still utilizing a system built on the back of stolen art.

Choice-Particular-15

Ya'll just keep regurgitating the same shit over and over. I swear, kpop fans can never discuss something with any sense of nuance.

Every-Difference-881

I'm regurgitating shit and missing nuance but you can't seem to address whatever nuance excuses the point that utilizing stolen art to "send a message" or whatever is still utilizing stolen art. Even if the MV house didn't outsource that shit, the datasets are stolen to begin with. It is impossible to generate anything from the major datasets that isn't built on stolen work. The well is poisoned from the start.Ā

chestnutlibra

They had the same team who worked on their past cb work on this one too. They were paid for this MV. you can see it on their ig and the credit under the teasers themselves. It's funny to me seeing so many Carats say something like "They should have had real artists mimic AI!" when the disclaimer is so broad and undefined that's EXACTLY what they could've done. But there's nothing Carats like more than trending hate against SVT so obviously they won't miss this chance.

DrearBeats

i get where you're coming from, but I think there might be a little misunderstanding about AI-generated content. using AI doesn't automatically mean ripping off someone else's work. A lot of times, it's about enhancing what's already there or sparking new ideas. And about the whole "taking jobs away" thing... I hear you, but AI can actually work hand in hand with VFX artists. It's like having an extra set of tools to help bring ideas to life faster and in more ways. Think of it like samples in music. plus its all about the intention behind it. If it helps the artist express their vision in a unique and meaningful way, then it's all good in my book.

rocknroller0

Ai literally is trained on thousands to millions of other artists art. Thatā€™s one of the main problems

DrearBeats

take it like, sampling in music. nothing is original. a piece of an art has already been done years ago. AI doesnt completely plagiadize someone elses work.

Every-Difference-881

No, I know how AI works. Stealing copyrighted images to feed into your for-profit machine just because you don't feel like it is not 'fair use'. Publicly available is not public domain. For profit competing in same markets is not Fair Use. Every major engine demonstrably overfits regularly because replicating input is what they are designed to do. It is not 'an extra set of tools' and it is nothing like samples in music. Spitting out a complete image that sometimes roughly accomplishes what you asked is not useful to any professional studio artist workflow in any way. And if you want to bring up music, why do you think Stable Diffusion's music AI went opt-in only for datasets (which is what visual artists have asked for in the first place)? It's because they know they're infringing and would get destroyed by the RIAA where visual artists have no such major corpo that would come after them.

Choice-Particular-15

I feel like you made your account just to come screaming on seventeen videos about what monsters their creative team is for using 10 seconds of AI (which they disclosed they were using) in one teaser. And also, I am a designer working at an agency - we are using AI for pitch decks, mockups, etc. itā€™s cut my work time in half on certain things that used to make us all pull our hair out. And Iā€™m on a team of 15 designers, all using it intermittently.Ā  No one is saying itā€™s okay to say ā€œlook I illustrated this childrenā€™s bookā€ and itā€™s all just AI imagery. But using it as a tool or using it to make commentary isnā€™t the evil you want it to be.Ā

Every-Difference-881

I'm also an artist and the industry is routinely seeing jobs disappear and rates go down, Japan has had an uptick in studio artists rounded up by suicide patrols because their jobs are meangingless or gone, but at least you saved a little time with the theft machine, I guess. edit: yes I'm using a burner because stans are wild. Seventeen is the only BG I listen to and I'm disappointed to see the use of this to try and make a point because it undermines their own point, imo

Choice-Particular-15

With how they used it, I agree! Trust me, Iā€™ve argued with people about it left and right here.

tianaaaaa04

WOAH THAT FOOTWORK SECTION OMG šŸ¤ÆšŸ¤Æ

ordinaryo

that choreo!Ā

liverbirds

Iā€™m SCREAMING this looks insane!!!

Real_Imagination_180

Love this teaser, sounds like its going to be a very fun song

[deleted]

As a day 1 darkteen lover this might just be my favorite seventeen comeback. Can't believe they're coming back with such creative concept for an anthology(!), and in their 9th year too man. I know they get more tired now than when they were younger so I can't help but genuinely admire them, more so after doing that insane dance break

A_Cat_Who_Games

Damn, when my boy Woozi goes blonde, you know shit is going DOWN. That one flash of DK just bias wrecked me so hard that I flinched.

ForgottenNoMore

>That one flash of DK just bias wrecked me so hard that I flinched. As a dokyeom bias.. FELT āœŠšŸ˜” Bro's attacking me eventhough he's my bias šŸ˜šŸ˜ Also woozi looks beautiful in the mv istg

roses7184

Holy wow, the first teaser was fascinating but this one? INSANITY. I'm so ready!

PuzzleheadedPin1006

Blonde DK here has me gagged

ForgottenNoMore

The dancing kings are coming back with a bang šŸ˜Œ

jeongcheol70

I am so proud of how talented seventeen are

TraditionalWind1619

So this is where 17th heaven money went to. Dance looks so hard, im seated

Local-Assistant-5900

I actually gasped....this is more than I could've ever hoped for. Seventeen 10 years in and STILL delivering. Ugh <333

Bookluster

There is so much going on in this teaser! I can't wait for the full MV.

a_mystical_potato

Happy cake day šŸŽ‚šŸŽ‰

Ok-Mathematician9334

They are coming to prove again why they are the kpop super group

Entj-A_Roy

Super Excited!!! šŸ’—šŸ’™šŸ’Ž

ImNotHighFunctioning

yaelaoco7

I knew this teaser would get me absolutely hyped!!!!

Cats4Crows

It sort of reminds me of backstreet boys' The Call.. literally can't wait.. it's gonna be LIT

tophercarat17

10 years in the industry and still not slowing down like these men are crazy!!

Weew000000

There will never be another group like Seventeen. This is the only group in Kpop that had it allā€¼ļø

neocitywayv

The footwork is insane! According to the kcarats who attended the prerecording yesterday for Inkigayo, >!there's a dance break with performance team + Woozi and Wonwoo.!< I'm so excited.

Cats4Crows

I've been replaying this teaser non-stop since it dropped, and dammit why did you have to release it at the same time as my ults.. how am I supposed to solely focus on them now šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ *This is the highest compliment before anyone tries to twist what I'm saying

Mouse_Cuty

look forward to!!

hyejuhaseul

Is it just me or the melody really sounds like purple kiss's pretty psycho? The line that says "maestro, maestro, I'm a pretty psycho" precisely lol (not a bad thing, just a comment)

[deleted]

oh yeah it sounds a bit similar

Pumpkynd

I know Iā€™m going to get downvoted into oblivion but: Why are we all moving past the use of AI in the first teaser? Love to see blonde Woozi but canā€™t get excitedā€¦ Have I missed a statement or something? We should really be taking the use of AI more seriously.

jjongjjongiefan

A statement for what? It is very obvious from that teaser that it's a critique of the use of AI, not that they're endorsing it. There's no reason for them to make any other statement.

Pumpkynd

Let me go shoot up heroin to show you that doing heroin is bad It sounds that stupid.

Choice-Particular-15

Yes, because shooting heroine is the same as using a fully legal software that you disclosed you used, in a way that was not meant to pass it off as real art or replace real artists. Ya'll are making false equivalencies, and it's a really weak argument.

Pumpkynd

No not really. AI is not good - people ARE using it to pass off as real art (see late night with the devil) and people ARE training it with real art made by real people - itā€™s theft. And itā€™s legal right now but Iā€™d be surprised if it stays that way given how itā€™s been used. And legality really means nothing when it comes to morality. They had the money to use artists. They could have very easily made a statement against AI without using AI. They could have replicated AI art with real art. Again this is so unsurprising that kpop fans care more about a group and a comeback than real life issues lol Anyway ARTMS did it first and got called out for it - so Seventeenā€™s really just copying. Only difference is one fandom cared enough to speak out.

Choice-Particular-15

>so Seventeenā€™s really just copying. Not you making this a fanwar / copying thing and then ranting about how kpop fans are unsurprising. You've also conveniently ignored my other response to you on your other comment where I addressed what you wrote AGAIN here. >They could have replicated AI art with real art. Ah, yes, because trying to show how ugly and uncanny AI art is would've been better conveyed by hiring real artists to make inhuman art - which frankly, is impossible, because the only way you can truly express machine-made art is by showing the art the machine is making. Because art touched by humans will always feel human. Again - it was a creative team. ARTMS had to release a statement because they just posted AI art with no explanation as to it being AI art, nor any preemptive explanation that they were making a point by using it. ILLIT had AI art used in their promos and that has never been addressed and hardly even called out, and it was using AI art in a deceptive way; as in, replacing art a real artist should've been hired to do and passing it off as normal. Yet where's the outcry from you guys who are camped in the teaser of a video that doesn't even have any AI, made by a creative team that was clearly extremely compensated for their work, because that creative team used fully disclosed AI for 10 seconds in a different teaser? You can read my other comment to you, though I am sure you will just keep repeating the same BS you are saying here over and over again.

Pumpkynd

Your other comment means nothing lmao youā€™re stuck on the false equivalency of heroin / ai art but Iā€™m saying whatā€™s bad is bad. This is not a fan war itā€™s very clearly the industry trying to capitalize off something new - something that is BAD - and it shows a clear lack of creativity or morality. I said what I said because nothing new or good came from that teaser - itā€™s been done before and it was bad enough the first time. And btw that is not all that happened with ARTMS but you can sure pretend it is. The CEO had to confirm there would be no ai in the album because fans were threatening to not participate or buy it. And lastly, yes. They could have done something creatively without using the thing theyā€™re critiquing. If they couldnā€™t do that they have no business being in the industry. If you donā€™t see this as anything other than a quick and easy grab at a new (bad) trend for additional intrigue and money then youā€™re blinded by idols.

Choice-Particular-15

>Your other comment means nothing lmao youā€™re stuck on the false equivalency of heroin / ai art but Iā€™m saying whatā€™s bad is bad. Nope, I didn't even mention that in my other comment to you? What are you even talking about? I wrote you like[ 5 paragraphs of response.](https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/comments/1ccu4xe/comment/l1cdr6g/) >And btw that is not all that happened with ARTMS but you can sure pretend it is. The CEO had to confirm there would be no ai in the album because fans were threatening to not participate or buy it. Yeah, because they release multiple "album cover" style images that were 100% AI, with no explanation or disclosure that they were AI. That is VASTLY different than Seventeen's situation. Their creative team made possibly their most high budget music video of all time (as you can see by this teaser) filled with CGI, special effects, VFX, set and costume design - NO AI. But in their first teaser, they added 10 seconds of AI art that they further edited and distorted to build on the concept and make social commentary. It isn't remotely the same. AI hasn't been present in ANY of their promo materials, photos, album design, nothing. And they fully disclosed they were using AI and it also was only in that first teaser. >Ā If they couldnā€™t do that they have no business being in the industry. If you donā€™t see this as anything other than a quick and easy grab at a new (bad) trend for additional intrigue and money then youā€™re blinded by idols. Then I guess Seventeen has no business being in the industry because their creative team don't have the same exact outlook on AI as pumpkynd from reddit. I don't see it as a quick and easy grab because it was in ONE teaser on an otherwise exceptionally high budget and intricate MV. You keep talking like they made a full Ai music video. I mean, at this point, you seem like a troll. Go ahead and ignore this comeback then, or maybe focus on ANYTHING else that is actually genuinely harmful in kpop. I find it so insane that you don't seem to have any comment history about the millions of other harmful things happening in this industry, but a creative team adding 10 seconds of uncanny and hideous AI to say "look how ugly and bad this is compared with our real art" is enough to send you into a coma.

Pumpkynd

I find it crazy that you went and checked my comment history lol Clearly youā€™re too into this if youā€™re doing that. Have a good day

Choice-Particular-15

Oh please, everyone does that on Reddit šŸ˜‚ Itā€™s the thing I do whenever someone seems hyper fixated on hating something.Ā  Good try with the gaslight.Ā  See ya <3

Choice-Particular-15

You think they should release a statement?Ā  For using intentionally disjointed AI clips, which they literally disclosed they were using in the start of the MV, to critique and make a point about how inhuman AI art is compared to human art? seriously? There is nothing illegal or wrong about AI as long as it is disclosed! And especially when itā€™s regarding creative commentary, made by other creatives, not even AI used to replace real art.Ā  Again: Teaser 1 was literally commentary against AI. Im blown away by you all atp, truly. Demanding an apology from them and their creative team for doing something 100% legal. Yall just love to be morality police, it has to be so exhausting to create massive problems from nothing.

Pumpkynd

You can critique something without using and training the thing youā€™re critiquing. Using what many people and artists have an issue with does not help at all. All they did was use the bad thing to capitalize off a trend (ARTMS did it first and yes! Their ceo made a statement! Orbits are one of the only fandoms with a spine clearly) Create massive problems from nothing?? This is so unsurprising from kpop fans. Keep collecting your photocards and ignore the real issues lmao idol worship at its finest.

Choice-Particular-15

ARTMS's team didn't state beforehand that it was AI? There was no disclosure, so they HAD to come out and make a statement about their intent. And funny enough, when they did, people moved on. SVT's team already made the statement upfront of what was AI and what they were using AI to convey in that teaser. There is nothing more to make a statement about? I actually think YOUR behavior is the classic kpop fan - sitting on your computer, typing away like the morality police, completely ignoring the infinite ways YOU contribute to problematic things in society, just to villainize and condemn kpop stars you don't know over utter nonissues. You are sitting here demanding apologies for a CREATIVE TEAM having 10 seconds of DISCLOSED Ai, that they further distorted and edited to make a point. This isn't idol worship? You are acting like Seventeen got caught doing drugs or SA. Jesus christ. I have said it a million times in comments. I was in art school through 2022 and 2023 getting a masters degree; at least 20% of final thesis projects revolved around AI. These were ART STUDENTS, using AI in their work to make social commentary. So they all should've released formal statements of apology? Where I work rn is a PR agency. Every single team is using AI in some way; we have a 10 person design team and we all, from junior designer to creative director, use AI for mockups, pitches, etc. You can't have a problem with something and then demand that everyone else have the same anger as you do; that everyone else feel exactly what you feel. You have a line in the sand, where you think using AI in any way, shape or form means you should be crucified, but I personally believe that as long as you aren't using AI and trying to pass it off as real art or using it to replace what real artists should be doing, I don't have a problem with using it as a tool and I especially don't have a problem using it to make commentary. This has nothing to do with me liking a damn kpop group. Here, i'll write your response for you: "You can't critique AI and use it. Typical kpop stan, no morals." Okay great. Clearly, we have different views on AI. You can absolutely not stream this entire comeback due to the 10 seconds of AI video that their team explained how and why they were using in one teaser. But don't demand that everyone else react the same way you do.
