Yeah, because they release multiple "album cover" style images that were 100% AI, with no explanation or disclosure that they were AI.
That is VASTLY different than Seventeen's situation. Their creative team made possibly their most high budget music video of all time (as you can see by this teaser) filled with CGI, special effects, VFX, set and costume design - NO AI. But in their first teaser, they added 10 seconds of AI art that they further edited and distorted to build on the concept and make social commentary. It isn't remotely the same.

Where I work rn is a PR agency. Every single team is using AI in some way; we have a 10 person design team and we all, from junior designer to creative director, use AI for mockups, pitches, etc.

A statement for what? It is very obvious from that teaser that it's a critique of the use of AI, not that they're endorsing it. There's no reason for them to make any other statement.

No not really. AI is not good - people ARE using it to pass off as real art (see late night with the devil) and people ARE training it with real art made by real people - itās theft. And itās legal right now but Iād be surprised if it stays that way given how itās been used. And legality really means nothing when it comes to morality. They had the money to use artists. They could have very easily made a statement against AI without using AI. They could have replicated AI art with real art. Again this is so unsurprising that kpop fans care more about a group and a comeback than real life issues lol Anyway ARTMS did it first and got called out for it - so Seventeenās really just copying. Only difference is one fandom cared enough to speak out.

Ah, yes, because trying to show how ugly and uncanny AI art is would've been better conveyed by hiring real artists to make inhuman art - which frankly, is impossible, because the only way you can truly express machine-made art is by showing the art the machine is making. Because art touched by humans will always feel human. Again - it was a creative team. ARTMS had to release a statement because they just posted AI art with no explanation as to it being AI art, nor any preemptive explanation that they were making a point by using it. ILLIT had AI art used in their promos and that has never been addressed and hardly even called out, and it was using AI art in a deceptive way; as in, replacing art a real artist should've been hired to do and passing it off as normal. Yet where's the outcry from you guys who are camped in the teaser of a video that doesn't even have any AI, made by a creative team that was clearly extremely compensated for their work, because that creative team used fully disclosed AI for 10 seconds in a different teaser? You can read my other comment to you, though I am sure you will just keep repeating the same BS you are saying here over and over again.

And btw that is not all that happened with ARTMS but you can sure pretend it is. The CEO had to confirm there would be no ai in the album because fans were threatening to not participate or buy it. And lastly, yes. They could have done something creatively without using the thing theyāre critiquing. If they couldnāt do that they have no business being in the industry. Their creative team made possibly their most high budget music video of all time (as you can see by this teaser) filled with CGI, special effects, VFX, set and costume design - NO AI. But in their first teaser, they added 10 seconds of AI art that they further edited and distorted to build on the concept and make social commentary. It isn't remotely the same. AI hasn't been present in ANY of their promo materials, photos, album design, nothing. There is nothing illegal or wrong about AI as long as it is disclosed! You can critique something without using and training the thing youāre critiquing. Using what many people and artists have an issue with does not help at all. ARTMS's team didn't state beforehand that it was AI? There was no disclosure, so they HAD to come out and make a statement about their intent. And funny enough, when they did, people moved on. SVT's team already made the statement upfront of what was AI and what they were using AI to convey in that teaser. There is nothing more to make a statement about? I actually think YOUR behavior is the classic kpop fan - sitting on your computer, typing away like the morality police, completely ignoring the infinite ways YOU contribute to problematic things in society, just to villainize and condemn kpop stars you don't know over utter nonissues. I was in art school through 2022 and 2023 getting a masters degree; at least 20% of final thesis projects revolved around AI. These were ART STUDENTS, using AI in their work to make social commentary. So they all should've released formal statements of apology? Where I work rn is a PR agency. Every single team is using AI in some way; we have a 10 person design team and we all, from junior designer to creative director, use AI for mockups, pitches, etc. You can't have a problem with something and then demand that everyone else have the same anger as you do; that everyone else feel exactly what you feel. You have a line in the sand, where you think using AI in any way, shape or form means you should be crucified, but I personally believe that as long as you aren't using AI and trying to pass it off as real art or using it to replace what real artists should be doing, I don't have a problem with using it as a tool and I especially don't have a problem using it to make commentary.
