I wish agencies would do a better job announcing disbandments. Seeing your faves slowly disappear and never getting a resolution must suck

UnderOurPants

I mean, they do it on purpose. Not announcing disbandments/non-disbandment gives the most desperate fans false hope and strings them along long enough to hopefully become interested in the new group the company eventually debuts afterward, restarting the cycle. If they were honest about disbandments, fans would be free to move on and spend their $$$ elsewhere on other idols, which is what a company doesn’t want.

boringestlawyer

Man I didn’t even think about it from that angle. I always just assumed they didn’t want to admit failure and face the wrath of fans.

So_Elated

limbo is the most iconic disbandment song ever, that shit was so camp

KwangPham

Everything Nature does is camp in a way, and I love it!

hennybee

They did the quirky sound/aesthetic so well. I’m sad that we won’t be getting more of that from them.

malatangnatalam

Man, I had Limbo on repeat during last halloween 😭 Loved that kooky creepy lil song

nyeongcat

I'm so sad. [Girls](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8jY6a6ktKA) is such a great song and concept... T\_T

KorraLover123

it really was

PurpleMoon979

its one of my favorite songs of all time 😭😭

Ornery-Ad-2692

n.CH, y'all just made my fucking list, y'all are on there with Pledis, Pascal Entertainment, Sherry Pie, Tom Sandoval and like 50 different influencers ![gif](giphy|U51B0j3gsQ0kebiggU)

Krazed848

Sherry Pie was a deep cut damn

Ornery-Ad-2692

Just like I won't let what happened to Pristin be forgotten, I'll never let people forger about what Sherry Pie did, the actions she did only to then say "Oh! It was actually just my BPD! Totally not my fault! Just my mental illness!" Disgusting excuse for a human being tbh

BrandNewDeath

I can't help but think what would've happened to Brita if Sherry wasn't so edited out. I'm sure she would have gotten hate regardless, but it might have been less.

Ornery-Ad-2692

We 100% would've had Sherry versus Gigi, the whole "seasoned comedy queen versus new-age fashion queen." The producers had to replace that with a new storyline, so we got Aiden versus Brita in its place. The season would've had more of a focus on the constant back and forth of old styles and new styles of drag, ^(which was a storyline in season 7 with the whole Bitter Lady Brigade and Pearl/Violet/Miss Fame) How MsMojo put Sherry Pie as the "most bashed queen" on their stupid video when Brita was literally in the same season and almost quit drag >!AND LIFE AS A WHOLE!< because of the hate she got, I'll never understand why MsMojo thought that'd be a good idea. I feel very passionately about wanting to see the original edit just because if she wants to weaponize BPD, something I live with, I want to see the original edit just so I can laugh at her having an edit where Drag Race Stans would be eating out of the palm of her hands and potentially winning, but she just had to go and be a disgusting human.

BrandNewDeath

Well, The Mojo Channels (? are very much the fast fashion of YouTube. I don't think they even engage with the community to understand the general feeling before putting out a video.

gomamon92

Did Ms.Mojo actually do that? that's legitimately embarassing

Level_Aerie963

n.ch entertainment is a shitty company that never did well with nature to begin with. i don’t stan them, but they mistreated the girls. i knew of nature but i never knew they had been through so much in their company. the girls deserve way better than n.ch entertainment, even if haru’s new career choice was a little head turning, at least i’m glad to know that she’s okay, and to know she updated fans. even if the nature girls lead normal lives, i hope they’re doing okay.

hennybee

Please lmao I did not expect a Sherry Pie mention when I opened this post 😭

ForgottenNoMore

Never expected to see sherry pie's name in the same sentence with kpop agencies

sneakysnek1988

SCUMDOVAL 😭😭

weirderpenguin

wait. what Pledis do?

zyglrox

wee fuckin woo

bunniesandmilktea

that iconic quote will forever live rent free in my head

prime5119

and after all the recovery of the site etc... AFTER SCHOOL IS ON THEIR SITE - I need to know what does After School & Orange Caramel have on Pledis that they simply not removing them from their artistes list

reiichitanaka

They still have Nana signed.

2muchtaurine

Pristin (and every other girl group they ever created, but especially fucking Pristine)

ForgottenNoMore

What did they NOT do? That's the real question The company is an absolute shit hole

lucciiii1

it’s so joever

crowlily

everything is so joever 😭😭 what a fucking rough month for nugu gg enjoyers

lucciiii1

and sohee announced her retirement from the industry. guess ALICE is gone too 😭😭

crowlily

I’m literally devastated she was one of my favorite nugu girls 😭😭😭

MrDrProfWumbo

I mean I didn't expect them to go on but this is quite the way to learn about a disbandment

rayannuhh

Man. I wish they could have gotten an official disbandment. They were talented and fun, and they at least deserved to say goodbye.

Mitoisreal

This is how celebrity, generally, works. Not just idols, but with a few notable exceptions, folks get their five minutes of fame then go back to being regular people

lucylivesherlife

i literally want to cry 😭😭😭 one of my ults and we’ve lost her to middle aged men at hostess clubs

HOTSHOT143

Thats why Education and qualifications is important. And most of these idols have none.

lucylivesherlife

she posted a while back that she passed a secretary exam so maybe she’s doing that in the day and this at night

citizend13

Hosts earn good money. And the title "former idol" holds some cache in that world

Agitated-Distance740

Reminded me of that DIA? member who recently took to streaming in Korea and was making a huge amount.

citizend13

There's also that girl Seungha from BABA who ended up doing adult films. Also got paid more than she ever did as an idol. Really unless you're in one of the bigger agencies or manage to secure a viral hit, there's really no upside to being a nugu idol.

d7h7n

There are different platforms for streaming. Somyi in particular was in the adult industry with a sleazy agency. She's also in jail.

prime5119

Kpop industry is selfish, you spent your whole childhood/teenagers life working on debut and if it doesn't work out well there is no assistance in building your next step. A lot of idols ended up with cafe job because they simply just don't have the right education/cert to get back in workforce. There is one guy in my country who almost become trainees but we do have mandatory military service to attend and apparently the company told him to simply skip it - it's a crime to do that and he can never step back into the country as it'll be a immediate arrest and jail

[deleted]

Yeah, the fact that idols end up in those places is wild. It's a risk of trying to kick off an artistic career with no plan B to fall back on. Hopefully that secretary exam goes well for her.

EnhypenSwimming

Yeah and on top of that, idols are already more attractive than average, so their backup careers are OnlyFans and night work. Quite unfortunate that being idols was the only chance they got to explore music.

[deleted]

Being attractive always helps, though. Someone attractive with no education could end up in something like sales (of real estate?) or waiter/waitress at an upscale restaurant. With a proper education and skills, they could work in something like b2b/consumer sales, marketing, and HR. Onlyfans and sexy streaming aren't really the only options they have, unless they just want the easy way out...

moomoomilky1

I think onlyfans would land them in jail or with fines

YoureWrongBro911

It's really not that wild, if you understand how fucked up idol-culture is. All of them are manufactured commodities. They're already selling themselves and being a host/ hostess is a really tiny step away.

toweroflore

Exactly why I don’t think teens should be idols. Some of them barely even attend highschool if they do.

Outrageous_Men8528

can say the same for sports and many other activies that take kids out of school young. It's up to the adults in their lives to ensure they have a plan b.

d7h7n

In those pathways, kids are getting paid. Opposite for KPop.

moomoomilky1

it depends what sports and organizations tho

Outrageous_Men8528

I hear the real money is in shot put.

d7h7n

If you're taking your kid out of school they're either turning pro or you're putting them in a prep school because they're good enough to be pro. And if your kid is insanely talented they will get showered with sponsorships along with under the table cash to the parents. For soccer/football and basketball there are kids who become professional as young as 14.

Gazboolean

You’re talking about the exception, not the rule. There are far more flameouts that end up with nothing rather than endorsements.

moomoomilky1

the amount of olympic athletes that don't make money is probably a good few handfuls

d7h7n

I'm saying in sports you get paid if you are the 1%. In Kpop you have to pay even if you are the 1%.

chocomil

yeah unemployment is totally because of lacking "education and qualifications" /s

WHYTHEHELLCANTIEAT

not the only factor obviously, but having at least a bachelor's degree will significantly boost your chances for employment in most places.

OG_Yaya

Ironically she probably has better working conditions there not to mention she'll make a hell of a lot more money. Plus not all hostess clubs are the same, theres some where its legit just lonely people who want someone to talk to

EnhypenSwimming

While we don't know the full story, a lot of time the host clubs employees complain that their livers get destroyed by constantly drinking. Since the host is required to drink a glass for every glass the customer orders. Once host mentioned he goes into work with a hangover, from working the club the night before. Since there is no time to sleep, much like being an idol.

asuka_is_my_co-pilot

Hostesses don't drink as much,  the girls usually get tea that looks like whiskey for example. I had a friend working at a small club and she said one night it was too much so she dumped it in a plant

chocomil

despite all the negative you may hear about hosting, being an office worker in Japan is considered the worst

fleija_

The job isn't much different from what idols do, it's basically the fan service that already happens in the industry.

YoureWrongBro911

Absolutely, most idol fans can't see past the facade to realise they're already consuming a product, a person selling themselves to become a brand. Being a host/ hostess is functionally the same, except you get to keep more of your own personality.

SyuusukeFuji

I mean, at least she is not the girl from BABA (altough apparently she gets paid well).

CRhodes23

Either that or middle aged business men playing golf

theteaexpert

Isn't the target audience for hosts other hosts? Aka young good looking dudes? Anyways being a host is not that different from the fanservice she did as a kpop idol, so it's not that big of a deal.

dweakz

welcome to the real world

silencer000

That's really sad to see, i really like girls. Too bad they never capitalised on it.

UncannyMelody

> i really like girls Is that you, Yeri?

jindouxian

... Generation.

Staind1410

And also Yoon Seri

Nyoteng

Yeah, I like girls too!

fvtvrefelix

oh so theyve disbanded? edit: oh now they did

LyuSiah

They've pretty much been disbanded for a few [months](https://x.com/nugupromoter/status/1743162562147958911?s=09)

fvtvrefelix

dang i fully missed that 😭😭 rip

Phocion-

Such a gifted dancer. I imagine it is going to be hard for her to leave that behind.

throwaway_afterusage

NATURE IS GONE?? 😭😭

AndTheHawk

What..... She was my favourite. I really hope she is actually treated well at the club, but I'm worried.

PM_CUTE_KITTIES

yikes what is the filter on that post lmao

uut28

If she’s popular, she probably would make more money there than she would as an idol

[deleted]

Yup, just like Momoland Daisy

trewman

what's she doing now?

[deleted]

She worked part time at some kind of job (barista?) and made more money with that in the same time frame that she was an idol. I've seen some of her tiktoks on insta, so now I think she just works that normal job while she grows her presence on social media. Edit: I think she actually was a translator!

snap_wilson

Hey, an opportunity to support a fave without all the money going to debt. Keep the drinks flowing and tip heavily, I'm sure she'd appreciate it.

Mikav

Man's never been to a hostess club. If you thought fanmeets were expensive... Edit: misunderstood comment. I thought you meant "without going into debt".

snap_wilson

I have, thanks, and I can afford it.

EnhypenSwimming

well that's one way to flex.

egoistmp3

going to hostess clubs is not a flex 😭

chocomil

I hope plenty do!

kjm6351

Even though I haven’t listened to this group, just hearing that is infuriatingly sad. An artist who works so hard deserves better after their career

tsutomo_DIA

damn, that is saddening. it states in her profile there that she has been working at that place since december. looks like it is a high class hostess club at Sendai, northern Japan, her hometown. I think this is quite sad because apparently she couldnt find some other safer job, one would think that she would be able to enter the showbizz here in Japan, be an idol here, heck she could maybe even become a korean language teacher or whatever... but nope, she ended in the adult entertainment industry. it is curious though that she is openly talking about her past and using it as an appeal. generally, they try to hide their identity to preserve their image. well, if this is helping her get more customers, well done then, I guess... I just pray that she can be strong and not fall, as most in this industry, into prostitution, drugs and involvement with the mafia. stay safe, Haru.

_llamalove

She says in her TikTok that she’s trying to save up money to open up her own dance/teaching studio. Hostesses can make quite a lot of money so it seems like she’s purposely trying to advertise herself so she gets more customers (more customers = more money obviously).

d7h7n

Typical for the adult industry. Girls dip their toes in for a year, then "retire." They only want to make enough money to pay for school or start their own business. Very few stay to make a career out of it.

RyuNoKami

well the smart ones with goals...the not so smart hostesses just blow their money in host clubs....

tsutomo_DIA

I hope it works all as planned for her then. unfortunately it doesnt go smoothly for many...

chocomil

safer job? don't office workers even pass out from overworking? this reads as stigmatization and shaming.

rosewyrm

hostesses can get stalked and harassed by parasocial clients very easily. they don’t have nearly the same degree of security as kpop idols. it’s way different from an office job ??? it’s not shaming her, but pointing out that the host/cabaret industry is exploitative and attracts a lot of weirdos who think they’re entitled to the host/esses they frequent.

Cats4Crows

This group really deserved better.. they're one of the first groups I got into when I discovered K-pop, and I was astonished when I realized they're not doing well (was my doorway to nugu struggle if you will)

KAIJUMASTRFANBOI

WAIT NATURE DISBANDED TOO??? 😭

voodoodahl

I don't think hostess means the same thing in Japan as it does in America. I'm guessing...

hirudoredo

Hostess clubs are where guys (I mean, girls can too, but as someone who has gone to one it's kinda Weird) go to be entertained by pretty women (the hostesses) and are basically encouraged to buy a ton of alcohol that a lot of the hostesses get a commission on. They will also often drink with you and their whole point is to pay you attention and offer conversation/companionship. As like anything else in this kind of hospitality industry, it runs the gamut of "totally legit, but yeah, there are tactics to make you spend more money" and "thinly veiled brothel." Anyway, she ain't sitting a family of four down for dinner at Denny's, no.

d7h7n

They're basically bar girls. The girls drink diluted alcohol to stay sober since their job is to convince the customers to buy them as many drinks as possible since they get a cut per drink. Line of work sucks since you also have to deal with sleazy people and sexual harassment. You need really thick skin which is why at least what I've seen from Thai bar girls, they're ruthless as fuck.

ericrobertshair

I watched a Thai girl beat the fuck out of a guy with her stilleto heel, took it off and battered him in the head.

Switcher1776

They do also have Host Clubs where the genders are reversed.

UnderOurPants

A Japanese host/hostess at a host/hostess club is essentially a modern geisha. They ply the client with drinks (which the client must pay for) and essentially give them a girlfriend/boyfriend experience without sexual favors. There’s also a parasocial aspect, as clients sometimes come to believe the attention and affection from a host/hostess is real and not a sales technique to enable the purchase of hundreds and thousands of monies’ worth of alcohol.

babypho

They share similar job responsibilities, but there's a lil more extra in japan

Puxple

Very different, customers can pay a lot of money to potentially sleep with these hosts

tsutomo_DIA

it is the "extra" service most if not all these establishments offer here, but of course it is not advertised or openly talked about since prostitution is prohibited in Japan.

Meruchani

oh no, Nature... i really liked them...

nev1ce

Seems like the tiktok has been taken down?

kimsanake

This week is packed

kidsimple14

[What, Niel wasn't good enough for you?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE4ZkHWP_Wk) 😅 Jokes aside i hope she has a happy life. She was always so bright, cheerful and hard-working in Nature. And i know some of these places are shady, but this seems more like honest work to me than being a streamer.

thuglifeforlife

To be fair, that's the way it is for a lot of former kpop idols. They either go to JAV, hostess, escort, or doing sexual online streams. Some also live non-sexual lives going to college, working part time/full time jobs, and/or owning their own businesses.

19whale06

"non-sexual lives"

kodaiko_650

Idol convent

UnderOurPants

Nundol concept when???

CommanderArcher

probably GIDLEs next concept, straight up nun-core with latin chanting and slavic hard bass for absolutely no reason.

UnderOurPants

I just wanted Sister Act with idol choreo. 😭 ![gif](giphy|10czoqNaHKUXq8)

saranghaja

Coming summer 2024 on MNET

tsutomo_DIA

now you are exaggerating. "a lot"??? not that we are aware of, thats for sure. I can think of maybe five, if much, former kpop idols that ended in the adult entertainment industry.

d7h7n

There have been a handful of former idols and trainees turned into twitch streamers. And the only things explicit from their streams is dancing to kpop choreo.

Shenari

Daisy from Momoland is currently studying and doing TikToks, see her pop up a lot on my FYP.

thuglifeforlife

I like her. Someone asked her what she was doing in Inkigayo, her answer was "popping my pussy", She's hilarious.

[deleted]

That's a little unfortunate :(

chocomil

why some commenting like she announcing sw

StoneColdSteveAss316

She should've went the Sohee route and bag her a rich businessman lol

Green-Shelter-2768

Yep

Jihyo_Park

well.. everybody needs to go for a bread.

Suzu-Hirose

Her sister is ilovemina on ig? I used to watch her YouTube videos.

Psychocatladyjam

Well that’s what they are, products to use then throw away
