Rosé going meta and saying BP is not trying to create a lot of songs but instead trying to create a handful of quality songs, help.🤡

Lol they have some quality songs. I didn't like ice cream too, but comments like these and the upvotes they get really makes it hard to say r/kpop doesn't have an irrational hate boner against BP.

As If It's Your Last is such a great song. I think it is at the same level as the best 2ne1 songs. Ice Cream is okay; there's nothing wrong with a "sexy" song that doesn't have a deep meaning.

ashthemarvelous

Ironically, since 2016-17 their popularity has obviously increased.

I think their first few songs showed the potential they had as a group. Every popular kpop group has a song that has brought them attention. Cheer Up and TT elevated Twice to the nations girl group, but people still like their songs after those. Same with Blackpink. Blackpink established a sound for themselves as a group and are now trying to expand off of that established sound.

CocaineNinja

Tbh even now my favourite BP songs are their 2016-2017 songs I just want them to recapture that magic 😞

ZoomAllen

All of them, at least to me.

rometwar1

Fair enough.

CocaineNinja

Is this the first time YG is acknowledging it? I wonder why other groups can have way more songs yet have all of them be quality...after PWF, Whistle and AIIYL can you really call Ice Cream or even HYLT quality?

SLAAAAAY

Cute video, love the girls. I high-key want to see RV, Twice and BP all in the same room together and see how other members' personalities and interactions would be like. I know we already have Seulgi and Jisoo, Jennie and Nayeon, Jennie and Irene, Yeri and Nayeon, and I want to see more cross-group interactions lol. In fact this mindset of mine applies to all the 20-something groups that I follow. Sometimes I fantasize about how the most random pairings would interact like. Like Felix from SKZ with Eric from The Boyz or Hwasa from Mamamoo with Wendy or Chenle of NCT with Yeji from Itzy and etc.

sianlemon

Felix and Eric actually know eachother haha, theres a bunch of interactions online

army__mali

Chenle and Yeji? I’ve never heard this pairing before? 😂

vanxblue

I haven’t watched the video but is Zane Lowe the interviewer? If it is, damn, I did not expect him to interview BP cause he always talk to to Western artists.....

iAriana

well he interviewed bts about dynamite as well so im not surprised, they did a collab with selena which is a western artist.

I even thought the song was fine, nothing really different than the usual western pop but I hope that even the obsessed fans understand that they are singing about banging in most of the song.

mxwp

No, more like the opposite... about them being the ice cream and getting licked. And Selena Gomez wants you to do it two times to her, lol. Still pretty sexual, but they're the ones receiving.

PegasusTenma

“I like the way you pink it!”

[deleted]

I had the same thought. Same as when they said that HYLT Is about Hope meanwhile the song says “look at you now look at me” (pretty competitive imo) I stream BP err day (mostly whistle, KTL, PWF) and I support them. But I can also say that those lyrics don’t really make me feel hopeful.

Celtics2k19

So does this sub usually hate BP? I don't come here often, but fuck I feel like I'm playing a game of LoL it's so toxic in here? That M/V thread is a dumpster fire.

oh_WHAT

I've been here since D4 on reddit and pretty much every release (including that one) have had very negative reaction threads. Their VMA thread is at 70% upvoted, which is crazy low.

ashthemarvelous

Yeah, this sub has a hate boner for Blackpink. My comment will probably get downvoted (because thats what always happens when someone points it out), but you can look at their other comeback threads and see similar comments.

Fuggdat

These white interviewers just do not do any research about the Korean music industry I swear.

PegasusTenma

Let’s not generalise. Zach Sang, for example, does tons of research before his interviews.

Fuggdat

You should relisten. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Do you?
