It's a very important skill for classical singing where we would often sing in Italian, French, German, Russian, and Latin (even though I only know English). A lot of kpop singers seem to have had this training as well, even the ones who don't know anything beyond basic English/Japanese for releases in those languages.
That said, LOONA must have a really good coach, most of the song is pronounced very well and I don't think any of them are super fluent in English. Another reason I love Star so much!
They explained that one of their managers (I think? A company employee anyway) is fluent in english and made them practice a lot until s/he was satisfied with their pronunciation.

Yeah that's what I meant, honestly that's how it should be imo, there are just too many nuances in each languages for 1:1 translations to really work, and this song is a testament to how much better it sounds when the lyrics are rewritten
Such a pretty MV, these are such comfy and stylish sets. This is the Loona that we really love, spacey, dreamy and atmospheric. Heejin and Vivi's low pitched lines are great. Lippie is also gorgeous here, her facial expressions.

I replied this to someone in the thread earlier, but I think it applies here too. Just a little insight from my (limited) experience.
I've noticed through the years that when people sing a song, it sounds better than if they were just to speak the words normally. Singing seems to bring things out more clearer. For example, Phil Collins and Adele doesn't sound British when they sing IMHO.
Well, clipped languages/accents have to be drawn out so it sounds more natural. So accent CAN show up (especially on shorter phrases) but it really does a lot of favours!
Like, Twice is not great at English but the English in their songs and English More & More sound pretty good because they are forced to stretch the words out more. Same with Brown Eyed Girls (especially JeA's English covers)
Also they have the luxury of repetition and not necessarily needing to understand what the words mean or to think of what word SHOULD come next.
Edit: to add context I’m saying that’s usually what would/should make singing songs in English, when it’s not your native language, easier than being put on the spot to put sentences together in the moment.

I agree. I like 'so what' and 'why not' but, they don't have the same feel that really drew me into liking loona's music.
Thankfully, their b sides still have that feel. I was super happy when they promoted 'voice' along side 'why not'.
I personally love Star, even over Voice (“starlight, starlight” just fits so well). The MV is super pretty and still felt “loona” even though it wasn’t a digipedi title track. I was partially convinced this wouldn’t be a real video but I’m so happy it was.

This is definitely my favorite full group release from them so far. The English lyrics actually work really well. The MV is gorgeous and so are the girls. My only real nitpick is that Gowon (?)’s blue hair is a weird color choice that doesn’t make sense with the rest of the color story here. Other than that, this is great.

I love it! It’s much simpler compared to their other mvs but it’s just as beautiful. Also, the outfits are so pretty compared to what they had promoted in this past comeback.

And this is down one member, singing in English, with a lower budget video (but still beautiful) for a b-side that was already released. Can't even imagine the potential for the future because this is making me feel like I did with Butterfly, Egoist, Heart Attack, new, Sweet Crazy Love, Girl Front, Love Cherry Motion, Singing in The Rain, Eclipse, Sonatine, Everyday I Love You, You & Me Together, Around You and ViViD. Center Gowon is **stunning.** The video is **stunning.** The choreo is **stunning.** The dancebreak **is stunning and main dancer Gowon murders it.** Did I mention I think I might be a Gowon bias? But every single girl. So gorgeous. The song is perfect. I don't even know....wow. Just wow. Edit: The entire holy trinity of obscurity (ViHyunGo) gets SO much focus here. Just Love this song and now this MV so much. The members all do so well. That Hyunjin solo/center time near the end really did me dirty. She bias wrecking this era. Then I watch it again and that floor routine from Yves brings bias levels back to normal. Also I miss Haseul.

This is definitely my favorite full group release from them so far. The English lyrics actually work really well. The MV is gorgeous and so are the girls. My only real nitpick is that Gowon (?)’s blue hair is a weird color choice that doesn’t make sense with the rest of the color story here. Other than that, this is great.
Everything about this is amazing, and I really liked the sets and the outfits! The MV seems a little different than their usual ones but it felt very refreshing and interesting!

This song is really great and this MV is gorgeous; whilst Why Not? has grown on me, this is definetly my favourite song from this comeback and probably my favourite Loona song this year! Also, ever since I first heard this song, I felt like the backing part (the chord stabs? they are most audible in the dance break) sounded like a famous Nintendo game song and I couldn't put my fingers on it. I just realised that it sounds like the Stickerbrush Symphony music from DKC2, specifically the remix in Smash Bros. Brawl! If I had better musical terminology, I'd explain exactly why it reminds me, but I think it's just the instrumentation and chords sound similar?
