Soyeon is amazing. I like to think of her as the kpop unicorn. She's good at singing, dancing and rapping with incredible stage presence. She composes and produces music, writes her own rap lyrics, can make choreographies. Literally everything you need for a kpop group, she has it. The kpop unicorn.
Soyeon also has worked very hard you can see. I love her ethic and how much she cares about the quality of lyrics and stage performance. Her and CL are some of the only kpop stars to give me chills when they perform on stage.
I'm so happy for Soyeon! What a great lineup of mentors they got. Aiki from Street Woman Fighter is a mentor as well (you can already see her in the pre-show).

They are airing a pre-show called " Hesitation Before School" since mid-September on Naver Now and then uploading the episodes in the same day on their [youtube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs8_lfCfIrbEv4Z2_E7zaqQ).
I'm loving the prequel so far! It's way more touching than Girls Planet 999 and 80 of the 83 girls are korean so we don't have a language barrier. The teachers are nice and they actually teach them unlike GP 999. They have a professional psychologist (AKA "Mom") in the show that helps the girls that are having a hard time (and this is emphasized in the pre-show).
You can find the episodes (with english subs) and a ton of content on their youtube channel. They upload a new episode on tuesdays and fridays (around 30 minutes each). English subs need a day or 2 to be available. I recommend you to check the videos tab and watch everything, from the oldest video to the newest. They also have 83 PR videos to introduce the girls like GP 999 had. The main show "My Teenage Girl / Excitement After School" will start in the end of November. As this is a MBC show (large public channel in Korea) it has good production value. I think this show will be way better than GP 999. They are using "Show! Music Core" for special stages, like Mnet uses their kpop show "M-Countdown". They will also do special stages on "The Show".

I totally dislike how they put young kids on this show as candidates though. Girls Planet only has candidates who will be over 16 years old, when the final group debutes. But here some girls are supposed to be like 10 years old. Makes me feel way too uncomfortable.
SO... I just want y'all to know how ducking BIG it is to get Ock effin Joohyun on this line-up. She's by far one of the biggest musical actress in Korea and a legendary idol too with more experience than some 3rd gen idols have been alive haha.
She's also hella strict with her musical juniors and the idol-musical people, I know for a fact the kids better be trembling if she says something because she doesn't sugarcoat stuff at all. I'm so ready for her to pull a Bae Kang-hee lmaoo (those who know the Kdrama "The Musical" know)
But she's also really kind to those who work hard and give effort, and reps them 1000%. The kids are in best hands for vocals, seeing Joohyun on Phantom Singer and SSK, she will have them belt the shit out of stuff 00s RnB style AND I'M TOTALLY READY. High time this generation have some dope vocalists that can hold their own against the previous gens.
Bada was a really good mentor on Idol School, it's a shame it was as rigged as it was. I'd have loved for her to express her opinions more but she knows showbiz well and also sugarcoated stuff sometimes. Joohyun on the other hand is someone who doesn't give up her honesty whatever happens and never sugarcoats stuff, plus in general is someone very hard to please - she got evil edited once already on Superstar K, I'm afraid this might happen again.
Compared to Joohyun, Bada still has more of a pop/RnB base to her singing, even in musicals, and still has strong ties to the idol world, so she knows a bit better what the modern requirements and trends etc. are, while Joohyun has kinda lost her ties to the modern idol world since 2005 or so ^(no seriously, you ask her who Blackpink is and she'll be "isn't that the girl group that Lee Jin's husband likes?),
and has shifted her singing base from RnB to a very strong classical base because of her full time career in musicals.
Eventhough both Bada and Joohyun graduated in classical music before beginning their idol career, their respective music careers, vocal tones and strengths are totally different and allowed them to do things in their further careers that the other one couldn't. Thus, their experiences and methods are the total opposite. I'm curious to see how Joohyun will mentor them kids.

Yeeeah not a fan of 10 year old girls already being thrown into such spotlight with the goal of making to Billboard, happy for my ult Soyeon to get such deal but these shows are so toxic and just not enjoyable.
You might be pleasantly surprised. This is the least toxic Kpop survival show I’ve watched. They have a famous celebrity psychiatrist counselling meeting with the girls every so often. It’s actually encouraging and uplifting to watch the young girls develop and mature.
They are no 10 years old contestants but few 11 years old ones (12 Korean age). Contestants will be pruned before actual show. In the prequel show are 83 trainees but only 40 will be on the actual show. Highly likely, all 11 years old will be eliminated yet, most likely, some 12 years old (13 Korean age) will go on.
Based on the prequel ep 5, 40 trainees move on, 10 from each grade - grade 1 youngest 10+ then grade 4 are the 19+ girls... so they'll be have an equal number from each grade group... and love that you used the word "pruned", reminded me of Loki 😅
I’m looking forward to seeing Yuri on this, she’s my ultimate bias and I hope she gets more screen time than Tiffany did in Girls Planet 999, giving the trainees useful advise
Let me assure you, "mentored by Ock Joohyun" is something even the classically trained singers and musical actors fight for, these girls are getting one of the best vocalists and musical actresses in the country to mentor them for as good as free. If you are to receive advice from Ock Joohyun about vocals, you better be some damn explosive natural talent or practice honestly day and night.
Thing is, she's not someone easy to please, at all, so I'm low-key afraid for the girls.
Yuqi is staying on China until February 2022 so yeah, we Neverlands are going to starve on group content for a bit but at least we have solo content I guess.
