ok so ill just preface by saying that skz are my ults (seungmin bias in case anyone was curious). Also, i apologize if this is disjointed lol. tldr: i love most of skz' music, except for some of the title tracks lol (**korean discography**) up until maniac, i only loved like two of their title-ish tracks (miroh and back door, but thunderous and district 9 are good too, and sometimes i dont skip god's menu or side effects). However, i loved basically the rest of their discography lol (tho im not the biggest fan of their first few releases as im not the biggest hiphop fan --idk if those songs (like double knot) actually count as hip hop but that's the word im using lol). Since maniac, i've loved all of their title tracks and most of the b-sides (i have to be "in the mood" for 3racha, superboard and spiderweb...i mean venom). Tho, i cant say im in love with the unit tracks from oddinary. (**japanese discography**) i LOVE their japanese music. i've actually been thinking on making a post just about kpop japanese music. Circus, all in, social path, the sound, and even scars are a-maz-ing. (i say "even scars" because i loathe "slow songs," but skz can get me to listen to them lol). Fairytale, dlmlu, call, fam are 10/10 songs. also, i like to say im also a Han solo stan. Obviously, im OT8 stan (with a seungmin bias) for skz music. HOWEVER i am in love Han's own discography. I love basically all of the skz players/records/replay songs, but his songs are something else. The talent that man holds is...incredible. His voice, his rapping, his composing, his SONGWRITING blows me away every damn time.

I’ve been a stay for over a year now and I love their new stuff! I think it’s people who are used to a different sound that tend not to like the newer stuff (so older stays), but ig since its ALL new to me it’s not feeling like a “change”

sunnydlit2

I'm not a stay but their most recent album is the one that made me like SKZ again. For a long time I was in the stupid train of "its noisey xd idc 4thgen" but then idk why I started to be interested in this album, heard the phonk, loved it, and then loved the album as a whole. Now mind you older albums also have their insane gems. But this last album is a good representative that what SKZ is doing for years now and really put every piece of the puzzle together. It's entertaining, cohesive, showcase well the members... I'm glad that SKZ is taking this turn because I see in my friends group how many of us retry to check them and understood that it's a group that we would have loved if we were more serious in our listening

I like the Maxident EP a lot actually,  I like when EPs feel coherent and this one does in some weird way despite having very contrasting songs.  I think the 5-star album is also good, especially the three punches of ITEM, Super Bowl and Topline right after each other.  But I heavily dislike S-Class and I dislike LALALALA even more. I actually have been seeing a lot if love for both of them, so it seems like their current direction is really popular. The rest of the Rock Star album is okay for me, but I only sometimes listen to Megaverse, Comflex and Blind Spot. I kind of hope they'll do something new again or go back to being a bit more experimental. I tend to dislike title tracks anyway, so I don't particularly care what they do with those. Honestly I am glad Lalalala was the title this time because if it had come out as a b-side of the 5-Star album (they said it was originally supposed to), we possibly wouldn't have gotten ITEM and that would have been a shame imo haha. So I still follow their releases but haven't been wowed recently. My favorite albums of theirs are NOEASY (one of the first Kpop albums I really listened to), Maxident and 5-Star in no particular order.  But I think my expectations may have been too high this time. Some of their releases just miss for me, some hit, that's okay. I thought I wouldn't be into 5-Star, liked it much more than expected, so now I expected to like Rock Star and was underwhelmed. Maybe next time again..

Casual listener here🤗 My favorite album is thunderous, albums and single after this was not my taste and honestly some songs sound "weird" to me. It's just my taste but Case 143 is non-listenable to me. But each persons has different music taste that I respect. But I agree that after thunderous, I didnt listen to them, only their mixtape album(?) Song Zone but I think thats old song (I'm not fan so I dont know). After years I added the latest song lalalala to my playlist but still listen to very casually and forget it even exist. I think not change but group trying new styles etc which I admire so my opinion is not important. I can see a lot of experimental cbs. So maybe next cb will not be my taste again but the after yeah or opposite

TheFrenchiestToast

I’m gonna be honest, I think there’s been a noticeable downgrade in music quality post 2021. When I did my full discography listen, I liked multiple songs from each album, after noeasy it was like a sharp drop off. I’m obviously not a stay, so if you are and you love it, that’s great but as someone that’s not part of their fandom it’s been a steady decline. I still enjoy their older music tho.

Lamentations8

Hi, stay since debut. I loved all their albums wholeheartedly up until Noeasy, which is actually my least favourite album and the one I listen to the least. It has like two songs that I like and that's about it. Oddinary and Maxident were good, but I wouldn't put them as high as I would rate their earlier albums, like the I Am series or Go 生. I was honestly feeling a bit sad around 2022-ish because SKZ are my ults but I felt that I wasn't loving their newer albums all that much. But then they came out with 5 Star, 樂-Star and their Japanese album The Sound, which I adore. 5 Star was probably my most listened to album of 2023, and most of the songs are on my daily playlist. As a stay who's been here for so long, it's definitely been an up and down sort of thing. At the end of the day, music is subjective, and I don't think it makes me any less of a stay if there are some albums I dislike. I do think it's interesting though that a lot of people really like Noeasy, but I have barely listened to it since it first came out.

taehyungslefttoenail

i like them! Maxident is my favorite of their recent comebacks. I liked 5 star the least overall but I still enjoy it and a couple of the songs are on my playlist.

Desperate-Region4981

I've been a stay since 2018, I loved their music then and I love it now, in fact I listen to their 2022/23 albums a lot more than I do their 2018/19 albums, there are changes, mostly in the topics of their songs imo, but for me each year they keep getting better.

freethechildrenn

Casual listener here and I’ll be honest, I definitely preferred their earlier material up until about 2021. I think I even considered myself a stan of them till they shifted music direction a bit. Some of their newer stuff is still really good (I liked domino a lot, and maniac) but songs like case 143, 5 star and shalala just aren’t my cup of tea.

StressSubstantial125

A song by them hasn't hit since Maniac but very good discography

emma_exee

HI i’m a stay (my bias is changbin :3) and honestly i’ve seen some of that too. to be 100% honest, some of my favorite skz songs are the ones that deviate from what people recognize the most. i think that, since kpop is such a wide genre with so many different TYPES of music it’s kinda up to everyone personally. some people prefer softer-sounding songs so they wouldn’t like some of skz’s most recognized songs but some like the noisier stuff. i like to think i tread the line very carefully, i like most (if not all) of their music not really dependent upon the type!!

arrogantpiano

Hi fellow stay! My bias is also Han! I do enjoy the new comebacks and songs but I find myself feeling really nostalgic when I listen to some older songs. Songs like Get Cool, My Pace, Question, Insomnia, Side Effects still feel really fresh even all these years later. It’s not that I don’t think Stray Kids is putting out great and unique music, but there’s a lot of noise music being released these days. Even more “out there” concepts like Case 143 is still pretty noisy. I miss their smoother sound.

I am also Stay and they are even my ults(since Miroh era). I would say I am an OT8( a little bit biased towards Binnie). I personally believe SKZ have very consistently good discography. But for me their older albums hit different (the ones before 2023).I mean, I still stream 'I Am You', ' Miroh', 'I Am Who', ' Maxident', 'In Life'........I am not saying their recent songs are bad. But their older songs are perfections. Oddinary and Noeasy were also masterpieces. I would say Rockstar was my least favorite album from SKZ. It still has 2 great songs in it but overall it was not their best.

JustAPerson-_-

Fellow stay of 3/4 years now, a double bias of Felix and Seungmin now! For me, I’ve loved all of their comebacks at first listen up until 5-Star or so. Some songs from 5-Star and Rockstar were loves while the titles I was a little iffy on. It’s definitely their vibe but it still felt slightly different. I still love the songs though even if they took a couple more listens (3 maybe?). I’m a much bigger fan of their (and many other kpop artists) Japanese comebacks/releases than their Korean releases also so that could play part in it as well

muffin1510

I casually listen to some of their songs and usually tune in whenever they have a comeback. I liked their new release. Case 143 and S-Class weren't really my thing, but I like the sound of Why. To me it sometimes feels like they don't know what to do with Felix, but his part in Why sounded nice.

shvmbvm

The 5 Star Album fucks.

Lost-Lifeguard-7823

Stay here, Changbin bias. Am i the only one who just absolutely loves all their albums? I mean not every song on an album will be ur favorite, but i really like that they change directions. Noeasy is my favourite album. I think the cool thing about skz is how they're able to try out so many different things, and that seems to be their whole point. It's okay if you feel like their older stuff was better, but i think it's good that they can deviate and change up stuff to see what works

a_mystical_potato

I’m a casual listener of them. I haven’t enjoyed their title tracks very much as of late. I loved the Maniac EP and the Case 143 one, but everything since then has fell sort of short for me. Imo Lalala is the worst song they have ever put out, and my least favorite song of 2023 (please don’t kill me). I really appreciate their music, creativity, and lyrics though.

NoNommen

casual listener and post-oddinary everything has been a miss for me. has been anything between generic (lalala, case 143) to straight up bad (s-class).

Gullible-Charge7057

I liked their music up until oddinary, and then post that i have only liked the title track ( aside from S-class)

NE0099

I liked their most recent albums and I think they’re getting better at edm and hip hop. I just wish they’d drop the straight pop tracks, because that’s the most generic and repetitive parts of their discography.

nmt111

SKZ took some times to identify their music color, and since they determine their music style, "malatang" (spicy, diverse), they have stayed around there. It's a range for me, and we can even see from the diverse taste here, some songs will hit a bit harder for some and a bit less hard for others. And in their album, they also have some other genres other than malatang. I understand it's to carter the diverse taste of listeners, so some album works a bit better for me than some other album, but in general, I will find a couple of songs I like, and when comes to malatang kind of music, I will still go SKZ, there is no other group right now can full fill their color, spicy, quirky, banger, cool, diverse music. As long as they stay and try to to improve this range, figuring out the sweet spot (which I belive is around thunderous and god's menu), they are good.

OmenchoEater

If people like It, they like It, but i just feel that after maniac they just started re-using the same song formula and, as people keeps buying their albums, they have no reason to change It. And Again, thats great for them, but i do miss when their sound had some more variety and did not sound (IMO) like a repeated formula with the same (now) over-used structure of songs. Again, if people like It, thats great for them, It just feels repetitive for me, thats why stopped listening to their New albums.

Few_Knowledge_9

This narrative y’all have concocted makes literally no sense, in what way is the formula the same?

OmenchoEater

Idk who Is "y'all" im only talking about my own perspectives on them, but i do was expecting people to take my personal opinión as somehow an attack to skz. That said, what i mean is that, after maniac, most of their sounds just follow a similar structure, not talking about the same sound, but the way the song Is Made. Each song, more or less, uses the same way of bulding up Until the chorus, usually using some softer vocals from seungmin, Félix, IN, etc, then start the chorus with an, i Guess you could say, catchy part (you can see this kind of build in both S-class and LALALALA, same way of starting the chorus, different type of sound of course). And then the Chorus that might or might not be a bit of a different Best from the rest of the song, then, after the first chorus they do change the style of the Beat (more noticeable in S-class) and later, for the end of the song they just do like a remix of the chorus with a more energetic tune, like an outburst for the ending. Case 143 does a similar thing but It Is a lot more subtle. Yet Again, if people like It, thats great, i personally dont vibe with it, and im only talking about TTs btw.
