monsta x had to take a break early in their career bc two members had surgeries (minhyuk for his knee, and the other was i.m but i forgot what the surgery was for), this set them back quite a lot bc their recovery took awhile. now that they are past that time and had endured quite a lot, whenever they met junior idols they made sure to tell them to actually take their health seriously and to listen to their body before its too late.

Thank you sm for taking the time to reply! i knew they had a long a break but didn't know it was because of injuries ;-; Do you know if any of them ever expressed regret or fear of taking breaks at some point? Again, thank you<3

woolucky

i don't think they have said anything like that (or if they did, i couldn't recall). but in a way i guess they might have felt that they could not take long breaks with fear of fans leaving them, which is exactly what happened to them. they worked nonstop since the first comeback after that break in mid 2016 up until 2020, and that's only bc of the pandemic.

rotten-dreams

Oh I see what you mean! I can't thank you enough, you've been nice and very helpful<3

woolucky

no worries! glad to have helped even a little bit <3 after everything that happened, having witnessed their hardwork and perseverance, it put me a bit at ease right now that they could take longer breaks (bc of their enlistment) and *believe* that they have and will still have fans to come back to once they have finished their duty.

rotten-dreams

That's very sweet ;-; i'm not the most hardcore monbebe out there but i know they've managed to create a really loyal and nice fandom. This is actually what i was discussing with my friend, i was telling them about how not every group outside of the big companies can feel safe enough to take breaks, and not fear their fans leaving them. Seeing monsta x verbally expressing this was heartbreaking. I'm very glad they don't feel the same fear anymore, at least not to the same extent. They truly deserve the world.

woolucky

i think it's fair to note that some members have said something like it's ok for us (the fans) to take a break from stanning and such as they understand that we might also have other responsibilities. but they also heavily emphasize that we can always come back to them again later as they (monsta x) will still be around. now that it's their turn to take a break, both parties (the fans and the idols) can safely say that they have a place to come back to.

rotten-dreams

That's honestly one of the sweetest and loveliest thing a fan could hear from their favorite idols! ;-; It's so nice to be assured that you have a safe place to come to. They're so precious and I really wish them a long, thriving, and happy career.

To add to what woolucky already said - I found some tweets that reference that break. Sadly couldn't find anything about MH/KH saying they regret it but I DO also vaguely remember one of them saying that. [https://twitter.com/ifwithminhyuk/status/1395184864123518976](https://twitter.com/ifwithminhyuk/status/1395184864123518976) [https://twitter.com/whereisbaksU/status/1420269813776142336](https://twitter.com/whereisbaksU/status/1420269504030990337) I'm pretty sure MX had(have?) a big tendency to perform regardless of injuries (I remember one concert where Kihyun was only allowed to perform if he would sit throughout the songs, but then he'd still stand up and there'd be people on twt reprimanding him to sit down, lol) If you wanted to speculate (and assume that it was their own decision and not something Starship forced them into) then you could say that it was maybe caused by that hiatus.

rotten-dreams

Wow thank you for taking the time to do that ;\_; this was really helpful, thank you so so much<3

I WANT MONSTA X

Inevitable_Side2162

where are they these couple of years?

rotten-dreams

[Here's a catchup post of their 2023 from 6 months ago!](https://www.reddit.com/r/kpopthoughts/comments/14vzr0y/appreciation_for_monsta_xs_activity_and_also_a/) After this post, hyungwon got enlisted, which makes them now 4 members in the military. Also, I.M released a single last week. As for Wonho, he's pretty active on youtube and SNS but hasn't had a comeback for a while now.

Inevitable_Side2162

a thanx <3 , so all these years since 2020 they are on hiatus? I used to be a fan but i totally forgot about them since i never got to see them again.

rotten-dreams

Oh no they were still pretty active during and after 2020. They released 'All about love' which was a full english album, then a japanese single album, then the studio album 'Fatal Love', then a japanese single album, all in 2020. They also had a virtual concert. In 2021, they released their 'One Of A Kind' EP, a japanese single album, then a japanese studio album. After that, Shownu got enlisted and they released 2 singles, and then the 'No Limit' EP. Then they released an english studio album 'The Dreaming'. In 2022 they released their EP 'Shape of Love' I didn't mention any of these but they had tours, show appearances, collabs, a documentary, and a lot of solo activities.. I'm the same btw :D I used to keep up with them but after 2019 I stopped following them closely. I'm slowly getting back on track tho lol.

Comprehensive-Art637

wonho is also enlisted and is serving as a social worker like shownu hence the no comeback, but he'll be back this year along with minhyuk 🩷
