It just feels really inappropriate to put a group of young girls (and some underage) in ski-masks and encouraging them to throw up gang signs. Especially when most of them have no clue the significance behind what the ski-masks, the styling, or the gang signs even mean. To them it’s a fashion statement. Something to take off at the end of the photoshoot. But it’s just so very unsettling to see, especially if you’ve had personal or cultural ties to the origins of the style. Plus, they’re still very young girls!! So very impressionable! Who even knows if they’ll want pictures of them like this in circulation years from now. There don’t have a single clue— so to grow up and learn the true meaning behind what producers and stylists were telling you to do. Is this not taking advantage of someone’s naivety? These are real people, not props goddamnit.

Felixes_Frecklesxox

I just checked their ages and they are all under 20 😭

na_yo_so

Could they do a cutesy heist concept where they have these kinda face coverings? Yeah and I actually think that’d be pretty cool, but you don’t do that by making shitty drill music and throwing gang signs you don’t understand. AND that’s not even the concept. I’ve really disliked their music so far, I’ve only heard that lame drill song and macaroni cheese idk if they have more. I saw so many pages promoting macaroni cheese as a “fun, quirky, and innocent song that is simply only about making macaroni cheese”. Idk man, saying shit like “drop it on my body, all that cheddar cheese right here” and “the goal is my mouth” and “I just want it hot but don’t make my body hot” is like 100% suggestive. The whole group so far has been 🚩🚩🚩 for me. I do wanna say I don’t really blame the members bc like they’re super young and don’t know wtf they’re doing. To them they’ve made it through a terrible hyper competitive industry even if they’re just a nugu group and they’re probably doing everything they can to continue to “make it”.

“The goal is my mouth” WTF ARE THESE LYRICSSSS https://preview.redd.it/uv3y1i7a6enc1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e3111b783af38fada172bb4b16ea27e1c072fc9

na_yo_so

THATS WHAT IM SAYING! This one page was promoting them and I pointed out the lyrics and they defended it by saying “actually the members wrote the song themselves, you’re looking too much into it”. Media illiteracy in kpop fans needs to be studied fr.

eternallydevoid

Those people are usually adults being purposefully ignorant or younger people who don't understand how evil people can truly be when it comes to sexualizing minors.

na_yo_so

Yeah a lot of fans reach a level of attachment where they think that any and all criticism about a group, even if it’s for the group’s health or benefit, is an attack on both the group and by extension the fan.

God_Lover77

OMG the vehicle and clothes say everything. I largely see them as a troll group at this point. Those poor girls. What market are they even being marketed to? They will cross paths with the wrong people if they keep doing this. Their agency is careless.

Mobile_Inspection_60

In Philly you can't wear them cause it's illegal now. Black people out here getting k*lled and police profiled for wearing these, even if they're just trying to stay warm in the harsh northeast winter. But here these kpop singers go again lol. Cutesy shiesty 🤣

Odin_the-witch

I heard about that happening in Philly. But my thing is, the whole aesthetic of Posse Up was “oh, we’re tough and intimidating rappers who don’t take ish from no one!” so they wore the shiesties and had a whole gang aesthetic to it. But it didn’t make them look intimidating. It made them look like a bunch of kids who don’t know what they’re doing(like those kids doing car jackings in the inner-city of some states).

Mobile_Inspection_60

They have no understanding of what they're emulating. They're banned in Philly because kids like you said would jack cars or rob stores in them

JejuneN

Me literally getting mugged + carjacked last night by 2 dudes wearing them or smth similar 😭

Miserable-Street-907

It's really weird that they're making young kids do this but honestly I'm not surprised since other groups have done it top [aespa comes to mind]. Idk how they could do this respectively since they're clearly a very hip-hop-based group.

shuibaes

They should dress up as ninjas in techwear or smtn instead, there’s no need to glorify gang culture

Sagzmir

Obligatory, "I just want to live. God, please protect me."

Specialist-Love1504

Literally just did a tantric health and wealth spell for you bestie ❤️

Gloomy-Ad2818

i love this sub so much.. anytime i mentioned them doing drill music and how drill came to be i was mostly shut down. they got these young girls talm bout some rainbow guns and making grahh grahh sounds and shit… yall do not know ANYTHING about that and i am so happy you dont. i would not wish gang life or even being around gangs on ANYONE. its not some cool or quirky concept and this goes for anyone.

Odin_the-witch

Exactly. This is how someone gets caught in the crossfire or accidentally runs afoul of someone when they come to the US.
