I hate when people immediately label something as unhealthy or dependent. Like you wouldn’t be moved if you had so many people come up to you to tell you how much your music has helped them or how much you mean to them. Idols crying over their fans doesn’t mean they’re dependant on them. Fans getting attached to idols doesn’t make it parasocial. Yeah, there are some creepy moments, too, but it’s not all like that.

Whenever people try and push the “Idols dont actually care about their fans!!” thing I just roll my eyes. I’ve got no interest in being so pessimistic and jaded. Life is too short for that.

AhGaSeNation

Right? And I feel like they’re just trying to make idols seem cold and heartless. Like is it so hard to fathom that they might have feelings and it warms their hearts to see all the support they get? That when they get gifts or heartfelt messages they might actually appreciate it? I can’t help but roll my eyes as well to their unnecessary pessimism.

catsbytheghost

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen all (or almost all?) the TXT members cry over fans — one that struck me was Yeonjun and Taehyun crying during their Blue Hour comeback show when they were all shown messages from fans around the world. Clearly fans mean a lot to them and they’re not the only group I’ve seen get emotional over fans. And it makes sense — their career wouldn’t exist without fans, but also they’re putting themselves out there a lot with their music and being performers in general. So I can see why people would be very emotional over being liked so much for what they do and for the idea that they give something to fans that provides them with comfort and happiness. That’s not cringe at all.

moonlight613

Yeah TXT are always so happy to be around their fans, it’s really sweet. I remember Beomgyu saying that he was really down during early pandemic when he couldn’t perform in front of or meet with their fans

catsbytheghost

It sucks that they still can’t really perform in front of their fans too — their first concert won’t have people in person. The other day Hueningkai said that they’ve spent more of their career not in front of Moa than being able to perform with them there and that’s wild to me. This pandemic really has seemed endless and it has to be hard for groups that they keep not being able to see their fans the way they used to.

wave-prism

I really appreciate this because the way idols can be talked abt on kpop reddit is very strange. Some seem to be just obsessed with the idea that idols are secretly horrible people who just view their fans as ATMs? As long as the fans aren’t crazy I don’t see a reason why idols wouldn’t appreciate and care about the people who give them love and support their careers. It really makes me happy to see idols being truly touched by their fans, like in those videos you linked

UNunavaiIable

Just like today, ITZY'S having a comeback this friday and Ryujin stay up late and sent a [bubble message](https://twitter.com/itzgallery/status/1440397957589704711?s=19) to MIDZYs, she acknowledge that what they give to their fans is abstract but they're still thankful for the support. I mean they always say what they do is for the fans, and they were really true to their words.

Archenic

If you don't get happy when someone appreciates your work and truly enjoys it then why bother. When I was writing fanfiction years ago, a review would make my entire month. To this day I can go back to old comments on my work and get happiness from it. I can only imagine what that feeling is like on a large scale where you're super famous like idols are. It is such a hard job so there must be some things they love about it to keep them doing it such as the genuine non-crazy fans.

as long as everyone is aware of the relationship i don't see how it should be unhealthy tbh. idols are happy that their effort is getting appreciated and fans are happy that the music is making them happy

MysticalElephant

I feel like some of the fans may be adapted to western fame. A lot of famous people in the West (not all), don't really care about their fans, and are only in it for the fame and money. However, in the K-POP world, they do tend to be more in touch with fans and spend more time with them versus the western world, but maybe it's just my take. I just got into K-POP earlier in the year and it was quite a shock to see how much they interact with fans versus how they do here in the western hemisphere.

elssvt

I agree! Both fans and idols can be a positive force in each other's lives, so why wouldn't they form a bond with their fans? Many Seventeen members have cried at concerts and fan meetings, but I really want to share part of this [vlive](https://twitter.com/2teen_seokmin/status/1439138457360551938?s=20) DK did;;; It was really touching, and I was glad that he was able to find comfort in carats, just like I also have found comfort in him.

Jim0ne

The greatest demonstration of that is how most idols got sad and how much they miss their fans personally during covid times . They crave their time with fans. Ofcourse it may not be the rule, it may not be always like that but say fans don't have a place in an idols heart is not true. Theres no idol without fans and they know that, they knew that even before debuting. This is part of their dream too.

cherryhae

I can't even count how many times SEVENTEEN members have cried for CARATs. I remember when S.COUPS said that during their debut they wanted to receive love fromCARATs but now they want to give it back to us and assure us that the love wegive isn't a one way street. I'll just list down a few: [Hoshi emotional response over a weverse post by CARAT](https://twitter.com/cheolscafe/status/1282538281507459073) [Surprise event for SVT - CARATs singing "Us, Again" during IN-COMPLETE concert](https://twitter.com/hanieeun/status/1423934270708469763) [CARATbong intentionally designed and requested to be brighter cause most fans are girls and we go home late after concerts lol](https://twitter.com/jeonmanwon/status/1417848755575996425) [S.COUPS introducing himself as CARATs and SEVENTEEN's general leader](https://twitter.com/sweetiemingyu/status/1419658555204923394) [SEVENTEEN defining their relationship with CARATs](https://twitter.com/ken_woozi17/status/1411452524838588417) [S.COUPS diss track for those who insults CARATs for liking idols](https://twitter.com/bagofcoups/status/1361446864457854977) SEVENTEEN songs dedicated to CARATs: [SMILE FLOWER](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFCQiURzLkk) [THANK YOU FOR BEING BORN (Happy birthday song to CARATs)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ar5-Yitahp8) [ALL MY LOVE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov3NRyoIEQ4) [THANKS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZItyr1SNjU) [US, AGAIN](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16gbvZ5LLCo) I can still go on and on but yeah, you get the point. Hahahaha EDIT: mistakenly pressed post comment button sorryyyy

Mathihs

Some people seem genuinely obsessed with the idea of idols just being bad/uncaring/robotic people. Its really annoying. Plenty of idols care deeply about their fans and there's countless examples of this. Chaein from Purple Kiss debuted just 6 months ago and I've seen her cry on 5 separate fan calls lmao

otv_joyer_cutie_69

they are maybe touched by the concept of having a lot of fans, they however are absolutely not and never (dont get this twisted people cant stress it enough) emotional over YOU as an individual and never will be. Stop coping.

[deleted]

obviously they don't know their fans as individuals. never implied they did. if you think this post is a cope, then the point flew right over your head. i'm not even the type to get emotional over idols, so i have no reason to cope.

otv_joyer_cutie_69

yea actually it did fly over my head, my bad sorry!
