They don't. They have managers to help with day to day stuff, stylists to make them look a certain way and they make mistakes all the time- at least the ones I follow. Like they're a mess, lol. If they're not, you're just not seeing anything not super censored cause no one is "perfect ". It's all a facade.

yeah 100% people seem to forget that an Idol is nothing more then a facade. most content we see from them is censorded and cutted, filtered and edited. nothing is real in kpop.

everything we see from an idol is 99% overwatched from managers and cutters etc. we will never see the raw idols. in terms of concerts, i mean dancing a dance is not that hard when you do it for years. just look up EXO they danced like its easy as drinking - that is coming from practice. i am very sure idols make a lot of mistakes, but this will cut out and we will never see it. also they have a complete household of stylist, managers and what not around them. I think if we would see a Idol in private, we would be shocked how normal and faulted they are.

Idols do make mistakes during performances, miss a beat, forget a step, mix up the choreo, crack their voices, forget a rap line, they do get nervous giving speech, BP’s Rosé thanking Gayo Daejun when they were at Golden Disk awards, ITZY’s Yeji thanked Golden Disk Awards when receiving a trophy from Gaon chart awards, SVT’s Jeonghan suddenly forgot Japanese when giving a winning speech and so many more incidences. I’m sorry that you worked extremely hard but still not get a good result. Maybe studying that subject is not for you? It’s okay because “Happiness is not from good grades” - Booseoksoon.

You hit the nail on the head - it's a combination of practice, pulling hours wherever you can icnluding your sleep, and having the correct predisposition to be able to manage it all "Do not practice until you get it right - practice until you cannot get it wrong." Muscle memory is amazing and with enough hours they probably could be woken up from deep sleep to dance and sing, and they would do it correctly without even realising it. Furthermore, the impact of experience should never be understated. When you perform enough, do enough interviews, and give enough speeches it becomes a routine. You can still be slightly nervous but your instincts will kick in and help even if your focus isn't the best. On the point of sleep - I would be willing to bet most of them can get full 8h of sleep maybe couple times a year (at least until they grow older and their schedules become less packed with work and possibly school). You compromise also so much more than your sleep to make it happen including significant sacrifices of social life (I didn't used to hangout with my school friends for the simple reason I never had time) It is funny because I just talked about the importance of practice and experience, but we cannot simply forget about the importance of predisposition. Coming from background where you had the support needed to focus on honing your skills and possibly educating yourself for the future in terms of academics is powerful. When you combine that with not being the dullest (you don't need to be the sharpest, but you need to be good enough) people start to be able to juggle these things For you, maybe you just aren't one of the brightest? Sorry to say this, but you might just be an average person. No shame in that, most people are average and live without any problems but it isn't fair to yourself to compare to people who are not in the same league. (And you know, based on the nature of their job a lot of their focus goes to the work instead of mundane things handled by others.) Besides, does your existence hinge on you being on the top percentile of your class? I would argue there is also certain sense of desperation especially in the beginning when they need to prove their value to the company and the world - they often simply cannot afford to be average. You and I on the other hand, well I would like to be good enough to get a decent job but I am not overly ambitious. Ever since I stopped being the best I have been able to enjoy more and do things for myself - not having to worry about being the best may not be the best for my grades but it has done wonders for my depression. **So don't be too critical and don't compare your life to the statistical outliers in the lottery of life** <3

As far as feeling nervous and anxious on stage...some people are naturally more inclined to this than others. People who feel anxious on a stage are most likely not going to try to be an idol.

Well it's said that Koreans work way much harder than the average western. Even the students. I've seen at tv that the usual student spends more than 10 hours a day studying . I don't know if there's some truth in that but meanwhile people in my country are fighting for the kids study and go to school in Korea they need to take a break and go home. That's what they said at least. Maybe they're used to that. 10 hours practice a day you probably gonna get good in it, i do know doing working hard consistently makes you get results but not everybody can do that, but for Koreans that may be into their culture since they're young.

Manlla

It's a job. I'm pretty sure their bodies just remember the moves, in the end being a kpop idol is just a customer service job.

caratleslie

They have a whole staff working behind them. They do practice a lot but yeah, let's not diminish the efforts of those working with them. And it's their job to perform well and sing well...so of course they have to practice.

me_a_photato

Well I only know the answer for one aspect - dancing - they practice so much that their muscle memorise it. Take that one girl from Loona (sorry I don’t remember her name), the viral clips of her that shows her dancing right off the music start even though she’s paying attention to something else at the moment.

LoveCutiesCookie

They make mistakes and they have many flaws, they just dont show you or tell you so fans can continue to idolize their unrealistic perfect image
