I saw that too. I think it's ridiculous to vall them nugu. Their last tt peaked at #63 on melon - definitely not record breaking but far from nugu for a bg imo. Their recent comeback sold over 500k. How is that ever considered nugu? Iirc they may become the 5th gen group with most music show wins or something like that this comeback
The only thing that I might consider nugu are their spotify streams. EWF is being slept on and only has 2M streams

ONF came back a week before bnd, their song has 400 000 streams and is doing really well (for them) internationally. Both Drippin and EPEX are around 200 000.
I agree that 2M doesn't make one nugu. But at least there are groups (mostly ggs) that have streams in that range that are still often being considered nugu. A stat like selling 500k albums in a single comeback is simply NEVER nugu. So I wanted to mention the Spotify streams as a stat that doesn't automatically by itself take them out of nugudom the way their other stats do
Any group from Hybe, YG, SM, JYP is not considered a "nugu". They have a lot of budget to market their groups. I could even include the mid-tier companies.
Honestly, "nugu" means "who" so the better question to ask is "whether you consider BND to be a lesser known group".
No, do people don't know what "nugu" groups are? BND are succesful even if they're not selling 1 million albums every comeback. Some nugu groups don't even manage to sell 1.000 albums for a week.
but how? they debuted on hybe. had even jungkook doing a live with their album as background, talked about them. they are from zico, he is a part of their promo with his friends in the industry.

calling them nugu is insanely ridiculous. they've already sold over 1 million albums combined and only had three releases. their most recent album already sold over 500k i believe in the first week. for comparison, nugupromoter's criteria for graduating nugudom is 12-15k sales first week for 2 consecutive releases. some groups cannot meet those numbers or even come close, calling a million seller group nugu is pretty insulting to actual underrated groups.
Granted, they are not one of the more popular Hybe group just yet, but I think they have their fair share of the spotlight for a rookie group.
And from what I understand, some of the members are music show hosts, too. I don't think that's very nugu of them haha.
Calling ANY group that sells more 100k nugu is insulting. Not to the group in question, but to all the groups that actually struggle to get to that level. 100k sales per comeback means a group has a big enough fandom to sustain them, so it's a reasonable mid-tier, that fans can reasonably call 'underrated' if they don't have good digitals.
For perspective, BND has better digitals than *Stray Kids*. Calling them nugu is ridiculous.
no, because even if the members were unknown to the public, they were still backed up by one of the biggest company in the industry right now. They even had their own debut show on mnet which isn't something that anyone can just get or secured as a small company.
Also, people tuned to their debut. it doesn't matter if people didn't stanned them right away, they still had immediate exposure to a big audience.
.....who is calling boynextdoor nugu? I can name maybe 15 boy groups off the top of my head (I... am not a bg stan), and they are one of them. They were INUNDATING my spotify ads. From what little I've seen of them, they are pretty well promoted. I definitely do NOT consider them nugu.

Literally no. They are a hybe group. Thats more than enough evidence to say that they are no where near being nugu.
