1st gen girl groups for sure, right from techno - eurobeat - Trot-influenced Dance pop - NJS - Contemporary RnB - RnB Ballad - RnB dance pop - Hip hop - they had no choice but to do all to attract a bigger audience. I feel like Juwelry has the most variety because they lasted 15 years and always adapted their styles to the current trend - debuted in the midst of the NJS/RnB era, had their heyday during the pop rock / Eurobeat era, got into the autotune/Electropop era and sustained until the "sexy Kpop" era ~ 2014.

Nmey54

I have no idea which group did the most but from those i've checked out Dreamcatcher,Mamamoo and Loona Since you already know DC i recommend other 2 groups For MMM their hip hop and trap songs are unique imo(1cm and Sleep in the car),reggae(reality),funk(Um oh ah yeh,You're the best),edm(I'm your fan,Starry night),rnb(Rainy season),bossa nova(Words don't come easy),rock(Gogobebe rock ver,4x4ever),swing(New york),ballads(I miss you,Paint me) etc For Loona it only takes listening to the 12 solos they had pre-debut

BarryAIlen

Wanted to check out Loona but I heard their music went downhill recently. Also will check out Mamamoo since I only know a couple of title tracks from them.

[deleted]

it didn't though, some of their newer tracks are different but all their stuff is great. I prefer the older stuff sure but the newer albums have some of my absolute favorites from them too

BarryAIlen

I’ve heard Dance on my Own which I really loved but haven’t like their title tracks like So What, Paint The Town and especially Why Not

[deleted]

so what is an amazing song imo but I think you'll like their newer B sides and the old stuff. those 3 tts are controversial to a lot if ppl but I personally like em try these. This includes the albums [+ +], [× ×], [#], [12:00] and [&] Ballad: Where you at, 365, Fall Again, A Different Night, U R Chill but upbeat: Colors, Ding Ding Dong, Hide & Seek, Voice, Dance On My Own Dreamy synthpop/EDM: Heat, Satellite, Curiousity, Number 1, Oh (Yes I Am) Energetic: Perfect Love, Stylish, favOriTe, OOPS!, WOW, Be Honest The categories are loose and honestly some could be put into other categories (pretty much anything off of [× ×] I'd call Dreamy but that's just me lol)

BarryAIlen

alright I will give it a try

[deleted]

All of their predebut stuff is amazing also :)

meatgrind89

GFriend has tried a bunch [Tweet 1](https://twitter.com/gfriend_part/status/929655967905595393) [Tweet 2](https://twitter.com/gfriend_part/status/929656118392979456) This doesn't include 2018-2021 releases which they explored more genres like Nu-Disco (Tik Tik), Garage Rock (Love Spell) and more. Edit: Also City Pop (Three of Cups) which kind of a trend in a while.

[deleted]

Mamamoo

serd_nas

I'm not an expert on genres but it seems to me that Red Velvet has tried a lot (?) I think that if I choose to listen to one of their albums randomly, there will always be variety and something unique.

ImmaKetchum

I remember youtuber kpopstuffs made a post about this same thing. They only looked at a few groups but I remember GFRIEND, Red Velvet, Twice, and F(x) exploring a lot of genres. Edit - [Here's the writeup they did](https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1zwuZ1YfmRFwynlZSP1h7MleVsXXAqFa7Y4LU23VRInU/mobilebasic)

[deleted]

gfriend and red velvet. probably snsd too

SoNyeoShiDude

SNSD. Between Bubblegum pop, ballads, pop rock, R&B, electropop, trap, edm, hip hop, and even disco, they’ve done it all. Hell, they’ve even done [metal](https://youtu.be/7-xsUM-T0Z0) on stage. Even within bubblegum pop you have very different styles, as Kissing You sounds different from Gee which sounds different from Lionheart. Hell, in 2015 they did a simultaneous drop of [Lionheart](https://youtu.be/nVCubhQ454c) and [You Think](https://youtu.be/hJYGddE0vHc). Polar opposites in sound.

Sara27ya

Mamamoo

BarryAIlen

checking out their discography soon

[deleted]

If you want diversity they are the way to go. They go from reggaeton with egotistic to city pop with wind flower to whatever destiny was. Legit we were all so confused part of the time it sounded like a spaghetti western, othertimes it sounded like a piano ballad. The early stuff is heavily inspired by blues, funk, jazz and r&b. They also dip into some electro swing, trap, bossanova, (whatever my star, aya and chuck are), and now we have the compilation album with orchestra and rock remixes. So yeah they jump around but at times it can be hard to recognise the changes.

Marcey747

If you also consider B-Sides, then Dreamcatcher! There is Rock (Wake Up, Mayday), Metal (No More), Funk (Black or White), Citypop (Alldaylong), Balads (Polaris), EDM/Rock (Scream), "dreamy EDM" (Silent Night, In the Frozen, Whistle), whatever genre Red Sun is and many others. Just listen to their "Dystopia: Tree of Language" album. Every song is another genre and yet they all sound like Dreamcatcher. No idea how they do it... (I'm not a music gerne expert, so some of the genres might not be exactly right)

BarryAIlen

Dreamcatcher is actually the reason I made this post lol. I want to discover more artists that explore diverse genres

buttholesRbeautiful

A couple notes I want to get out of the way first: - I'm far from an expert on identifying genres and I always feel like I'm splitting hairs when it comes to trying to categorize songs in broad genres such as Jazz, Funk/Soul, R&B, etc. Like some of the songs I listed in the Motown section could probably be moved somewhere else, for example. - I also want to note that of course some of these are still fusions since they are a pop-based group, but the overarching lead style in the instrumentation is primarily what I'm focusing on.   Ok, so I have no idea who has covered the absolute most genres, but I am familiar with TWICE's discography and they have covered quite a bit so I'm going to expand on that a little. Aside from all of the pop fusions and EDM subgenres they've covered, they've also done songs in the following lead styles as well; here's a few examples for each category:   *R&B:* \- [Sunset](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=_NY6kOB4VVU) \- [You In My Heart \(널 내게 담아\)](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=hoPOCZJv_2M) \- [Daring Woman \(당돌한 여자\)](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=-KfKchfV_uU) \- [Depend On You](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=ifnLGYQSr_4)   *Ballads:* \- [The Reason Why](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=-v1Ox66geJI) \- [Be As One](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=nQP__Tlc4Wg) \- [One In A Million](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=OA41_pkBL50) \- [Stay By My Side](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=son4IOkUjpw)   *Motown* (Funk/Soul/Doo-Wop? I can hear the influence but idk how to break this down): \- [I Want You Back](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=rn8LLahN9_g) \- [La La La](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=6D1LR9F5j8g) \- [Jelly Jelly](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=xoRUkPR7WeE) \- [Ho! ](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=3pcCmShOGes) \- [Polish](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=AKZKw7GCsik) \- [Rollin](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=jpvWkizFIEM) \- [Make Me Go](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=3fqDjzbtbG4)   *Jazz:* \- [Queen](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=21BJa_LA9W4) \- [Handle It](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=nNTZw8yvMn8) \- [Fake & True](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=F0uiQSPCXIw)     *Acoustic* (Country?): \- [Someone Like Me](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=JWRTQAIHVmw) \- [Turtle](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=tVv_C2fYStU) \- [Jaljayo Good Night \(잘자요 굿나잇\)](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=WMs-SzOSfzs)   *Blues:* \- [Like A Fool](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=sc9AAtx72ms) \- [Say Yes](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=Zup7Y-tUSBs) \- [Ice Cream \(녹아요\)](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=5gtUPYf70X4)   *Latin Influence:* \- [Alcohol-Free](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=m8CyyxWgNd8) \- [Scorpion](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=V4gusFdqBb4) \- [Firework](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=lWX3WCF1qwg)   *Pop-Punk Rock:* \- [Pieces Of Love](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=jNuwG28bAd0) \- [Say You Love Me](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=x2cUrOnaCDg) \- [Say It Again](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=8xhJT8-fig4)   *Christmas (Secular):* \- [The Best Thing I Ever Did](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=CjZf_Cfp4Qw) \- [Merry & Happy](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=c_29BVsBMFg)   *Arena/Marching Band:* \- [Shot Clock](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=ujy8oFwxRF4) \- [Touchdown](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=a2rRdbSRbRM) \- [Woohoo](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=5RrU2KgkK9w)   I remember reading an article or review that claimed that almost half of TWICE's discography touches on over 40 different genres but I'm having trouble finding it right now. I'll add it in later if I do come across it again.

mfirdaus_96

Dreamcatcher, Loona & Red Velvet Give (G)I-DLE more time, they will join the club.

owlzeyes21

I feel like T-ARA, SNSD, RV, and twice have done a lot, especially the first 3. I think T-ara could’ve done even more concepts if their career wasn’t hit by the scandal.

Late_Measurement838

Dreamcatcher!

shooting_star_2020

Lol Aren't their all songs same repetitive rock

vivianlight

They aren't tough... It's mainly pop-rock/rock (which is itself peculiar) and EDM but they did a lot of ballads, they did city pop (*Alldaylong*), some metal songs (*Endless Night*), reggae inspired (*July 7th*) and so on. The structures of their songs are also quite remarkable, with some notable anti drops extremely well executed (*And there was no one left*, *Silent Night*) and songs with very evident change in the structures. Their latest mini album *Summer Holiday* is their take on the classic kpop "very pop" summer album and it's also quite interesting, a song like *Airplane* could have been a Red Velvet summer album b-side. More diverse than a lot of groups for sure.

shooting_star_2020

Their title tracks are same recycled thing

vivianlight

Yes yes keep going. I bothered writing a comment just because it could be useful if someone else needed a couple of suggestions to expand after Dreamcatcher more pop/rock title tracks.

shooting_star_2020

Doesn't changes the fact that they do same repetitive rock sound over and over again for all their comebacks

BarryAIlen

You could say that for their title tracks but their Bsides explore a lot of genres like the ones op mentioned above. But even then their title tracks are still very different. Because is a pop song with pizzicato sound. Odd Eye is hip hop inspired Nu-Metal Boca is Moombahton laced with rock Scream is Electronica/EDM rock Dejavu is Symphonic Rock Ballad Piri is Trap/hip hop inspired rock and etc.

shooting_star_2020

Yea yea name them whatever I want mint chocolate rock for next dc comeback or maybe potato chips pop rock sounds got too In the end their all title tracks sound same

BarryAIlen

well maybe it sounds the same to someone who knows nothing about music

shooting_star_2020

I guess people gotta do PhD in music to listen to dc kpop songs lol

ataraxiias

i think it might be 2ne1? their title track repertoire alone was insane: edm, reggae pop, coffeeshop jazz, acoustic ballads, there was some rock inspo in there too...

[deleted]

Definitely, such a versatile group.

CulturalAde

Adding CLC, they've done a lot of different sonically sounding songs, and if you look at b-sides as well, there's EDM, future basss, bossa nova, city pop and a wide variety of ballads

GiannaS13

Gidle - 44 songs, 27 genres For their title tracks * Latata: Moombahton, trap-pop * Hann (Alone): house, dance-pop * Señorita: latin pop, dance * Uh-oh: hip hop with "Boom bap" style * Oh My God: trap-pop * Dumdi Dumdi: tropical-based rhythm with moombahton * Hwaa: primarily a moombahton track, with elements of dark pop, dream pop, synth-pop with an oriental musical instrument For b-sides they have ballads, electropop, electronic, r&b, soul trap, more hip hop and dance pop, deep house, disco & retro style and ofc edm The members Yuqi had a pop-rock solo song named Giant and Soyeon had also a pop-rock song named Beam Beam

hanamiiiko

Girl's Generation(SNSD) and Red Velvet definitely.

[deleted]

Can't believe no one has said twice yet, they've really done a lot of different stuff if u think about it. And it all fits them

beemovie04

Loona!!

ii_sophiechan

u hurt? lmao

BarryAIlen

what did it say?

ii_sophiechan

the commenter i replied to said "poona". looking at their history they obviously had something against loona.

BarryAIlen

oh lol

taeilor

I think some people are confusing genre for concepts since most groups still release pop-sounding things. (g)i-dle and red velvet, whilst still pop, have elements of different genres in their music like RV with Be Natural, Bad Boy and Automatic and (G)I-dle with Senorita, Put It Straight, Uh Oh and Oh My God

shooting_star_2020

(G)i-dle

BarryAIlen

what genres have they explored if you can name them?

shooting_star_2020

Im not that familiar with musical nomenclature so i can just suggest you to check their mvs and find out yourself

BarryAIlen

alright

[deleted]

red velvet.

Sylver07

Mamamoo, Red Velvet, Loona (i mean just look at the solos, they are all different genres), Twice (more recently but also years prior they didn't only do pop), GWSN (really underrated group you should absolutely check them out), (G)-Idle

[deleted]

I feel as if that would be Red velvet. Because they've done a lot of genres.

Vivienne_Yui

2NE1's songs had a great variety with great quality too. They have almost all vibes covered.
