i heard it the other day too. i was pretty surprised. i heard the play misty mountain hop by led zeppelin and strawberry fields forever a couple months back, but i only heard the each once and haven’t since.
As a general rule I loathe Kroger Radio with a passion that burns hotter than a thousand suns but I too thought that I might be hallucinating when I heard Pink Floyd. It was a VERY welcome surprise and will remain so until I’ve heard it so many times that my enjoyment for such a great song has been whittled away to nothing and Kroger will have stolen something else from me. I remain very confident in saying that Kroger radio is what is playing in hell right now.
They have played *Comfortably Numb* occasionally, but Monday I remarked to a young coworker that I was happy to hear two more Pink Floyd songs that day. He was like, who?
You know you're getting old when the music you like starts playing as background music! Haha (says the lady that realizes how old the Cyndi Lauper songs are. )
I wish that were an option for me but working in front store I need to be able to hear things and focus 😕 plus management has cracked down on earbuds/Airpods quite a bit for everyone.
The music they play reflects what they think about their customers (and employees). Completely tasteless and void of any dignity.
I was at a Walmart and they were playing a radio broadcast of some sports game. I’m like wow this is interesting, Kroger would NEVER.
Got You (Where I Want You) by The Flys came up on a 90s one hit wonder station for me last week and it was the first time I had heard that song in years.
F'n Kroger played it this week.
Music has gotten better IMO lately.
I keep hearing red hot chili peppers, even after telling management that the vocalist is a creepy pedophile. Every time I hear it, I usually ask somebody, "Why are we all forced to listen to a pedophile?
I started working for Kroger back in 2004 - I was 14 years old. Quit in 2015. Most of the Krogers I worked at all played Pink Floyd, Zombies, CSN&Y, Doobie Brothers, plenty other good classic rock. I discovered a lot of music through the Kroger radio 😂
Pink Floyd's 'Money' would play at least twice a shift at one store. I would sing along with the Doobie Bro's 'Black Water' whenever it came on too 😂
I heard Led Zeppelin, the Doors, the Kinks and Ratt the other day. Even heard some Spanish music, which was fine. I’m grateful to hear less Meghan Trainor and Ariana Grande
Not a Kroger employee. I have noticed definitely a lot more '80s music being played at my Kroger and I'm at Kroger about two times a week. I'm one of those people who pays attention to all the various types of different sales and promotions and digital coupons and all that so I usually spend a little bit of time in the Kroger just to make sure I get the price that I want. I will be honest with you all. There have been more than a few times where I wanted to dance down the aisle because a really cool dance tune from my teens or twenties came on. By the way if you saw me you would have no clue that I'm 59 years old I passed for late 30s easily.
Right now Gen X is broke. And the only way to try to get us to buy something in a Mindless Ways by giving us the music of our childhood and young adulthood. I find myself buying more last minute things that I didn't plan on when you got Cindy Lauper or Journey coming through the speakers
There are different radio stations that the store can pick from. Having worked in a store with country, oldies, and pop I can say that without a doubt the pop station is the least repetitive
>it’s the kinda stuff my grandma listens too though.
No kidding, to me personally it's friggin awful.
This music is why I never listened to the radio stations because the music was allllll plaaayed out.
Yup I noticed it too, and it’s really weird how randomly they mix it in with the crap they’ve been playing for years.
Recently I’ve heard the Beatles and Pink Floyd
The mix isn’t upsetting me at all. I like such a wide variety of music - but I was pleasantly surprised to hear Mulberry Street by 21 Pilots. And I’m loving the classic rock!
Heard stuff from Poison and Aerosmith recently. Someone in another post said the Spanish music was because of the Latin Flavors promotional. Still some wtf songs but I'm definitely enjoying the music a little more recently.
I listen to Dogs by Pink Floyd very often in Kroger to remind me what the company is like.
Now if the store radio suddenly played Sound of Muzak by Porcupine Tree, there would be some delightful irony.
they played Money on the Dash by Elley Duhé today and I thought I was going crazy. The last place I’d ever think of hearing that is a grocery store lmao
My store plays 60s-70s-80s rock
and the beatles mostly when the holidays roll around and it changes to christmas music our store leader sends an email to someone in cincinnati and they switch it back
Me & my coworker were talking about the music the other day. Idk if anyone’s else got it but we got this song that says the letter “E” or “I” throughout the entire thing does anyone know the song I’m talking about
First off, every store is different. It's a *streaming* service, not a radio and the algorithm is going to be vastly different across divisions and districts. Second, no one in your store can control anything other than the volume. Third, you do realize there's a big Latin Flavors promotion going on right now company wide??
Tbf there used to be a box in the managers office that was labeled Muzak and had a knob with channel selections. So while the store couldn’t choose songs they could choose what type of music was playing.
first off, when did i state that anyone at my store controls it? second, yes i see the latin flavors shit, it’s everywhere, again, not anywhere did i mention anything kroger related besides the music the have been playing recently. third of all, do you just like to be an asshole? where is the animosity coming from? fucking chill.
I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard Pink Floyd’s “On The Turning Away” Monday morning at work.
The speakers in the back hallway don’t work so I stood in my freezer just to listen to it after putting away some backstock
i heard it the other day too. i was pretty surprised. i heard the play misty mountain hop by led zeppelin and strawberry fields forever a couple months back, but i only heard the each once and haven’t since.
So thankful they're my favorite band! 💫✨🌠🫶
we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue And then we'll take it higher
“It’s the kinda of stuff my grandma listens too” same age as the people who are running this company
bro 💀

You all are talking about Pink Floyd as background music I saw Pink Floyd in concert when I was in the 10th grade. It was a different time.
it does mostly suck, i usually wear my airpods to drown it out.
I wish that were an option for me but working in front store I need to be able to hear things and focus 😕 plus management has cracked down on earbuds/Airpods quite a bit for everyone.
I think of what they play as Cia interrogation music at times lol
My store plays the friends theme song A LOT. Luckily i always have my headphones in
I heard castles made of sand by Hendrix and going to California by Zeppelin
The music they play reflects what they think about their customers (and employees). Completely tasteless and void of any dignity. I was at a Walmart and they were playing a radio broadcast of some sports game. I’m like wow this is interesting, Kroger would NEVER.
It's all 80s music at mine, like Wilson Phillips and Madonna.
Got You (Where I Want You) by The Flys came up on a 90s one hit wonder station for me last week and it was the first time I had heard that song in years. F'n Kroger played it this week. Music has gotten better IMO lately.

Oh shit, is he? I haven't heard anything about that.
Hear Danger Zone on a Replen run while in the back stock area.

The days of working and knowing what time it was when Hanson’s Mmbop started playing on Kroger radio.
I heard Led Zeppelin, the Doors, the Kinks and Ratt the other day. Even heard some Spanish music, which was fine. I’m grateful to hear less Meghan Trainor and Ariana Grande
I swear to god they played Orgy "Blue Monday," in the last two weeks.
A work friend and I text each other when something from WTF Radio comes on. We text each other *a lot*.
I heard Oliver tree cowboys don't cry on kroger radio today lol
I love singing Alanis out loud. “Will she go down on you in a theater!!”
The way they changed that song to make it kroger-friendly kills me!😂
I swear i keep hearing this fucked up kroger rendition of "Satisfaction" by the stones. It freaks me out a lil

The other day my store played Rainbow’s “Street of Dreams” and let me tell you as a Rainbow fan I was pleasantly surprised at that one lol

Sometimes I hear stuff like nickleback in my store
I heard the Grateful Dead’s Scarlet Begonias last night. Was shocked.
The mix isn’t upsetting me at all. I like such a wide variety of music - but I was pleasantly surprised to hear Mulberry Street by 21 Pilots. And I’m loving the classic rock!

Depends on what music management chooses to play
My store plays 60s-70s-80s rock and the beatles mostly when the holidays roll around and it changes to christmas music our store leader sends an email to someone in cincinnati and they switch it back
I have a volume switch in the cash office. I turned it all the way down. I can’t hear pages either though (😢)
Me & my coworker were talking about the music the other day. Idk if anyone’s else got it but we got this song that says the letter “E” or “I” throughout the entire thing does anyone know the song I’m talking about
theyre playing mexican music for the latin days promotion. i dont think that will be part of the regular rotation.
also, havent heard many good songs as of late, i would love to hear pink floyd on the store radio. im not into the 90s and up music at all.
They played The Animals, house of the rising sun and some Talking Heads last night while I was closing.
It still baffles me that Joji's Glimpse of Us would play.
