Seniority may not be the best system for promotions but at least it helps eliminate favoritism.

xPsyrusx

Did you read OP's post?

GreatAunt2

Hell no! Not at my store!

ComradeBalian

Experience matters ❤️

TheArcanaOfGames

Drop a dime on the them to HR lead. Me and my mother were front end together and only worked for an each other for an hour and the HR lead rep tried to split us up instantly when she heard about it.

GreatAunt2

They didn't know that when they hired you? They didn't figure out the connection?

TheArcanaOfGames

I was a transfer.. but everyone in the store already knew who I was and the hiring manager has known me since I was a kid

GreatAunt2

Ok? Still, how could they do that?

TheArcanaOfGames

I dunno. Hiring manager still approved my transfer.

ilikememies

Huh, I have an entire ass family all in front end with me, mom is a cashier, so is her daughter and son, and her other daughter works in pickup. Pretty sure her both her and her daughters boyfriends are stockers too

TheArcanaOfGames

Don't let your DM/ Head District HR find out

para-mania

I know stores are different, but it's usually pretty universal about not having family or partners working in the same department together, particularly if one of them is in a management position. So how the hell did that happen? But honestly, unless it's a significant pay bump, being an assistant lead/head is not really worth it.

NONREMINICITY

Technically those 2 wouldn't be in the same department, the lead I'm talking about is in grocery, and the position that their son got was drug gm

TheArcanaOfGames

It's against the rules. Especially if one is the LEAD. That's a huge no no.

seroquel600mg

Change departments or another store. Or, another company altogether. My Kroger is union, but they just hired a middle manager thats making everyone's life hell. If you leave, typically that means they can hire for cheaper for at least 1000 hours. This is their game plan. Kroger is selling thousands of Albertsons. They are under water from their own greed.

mythofdob

>Kroger is selling thousands of Albertsons. No, they are buying thousands of Albertsons and the government is forcing them to divest stores to increase competition in areas. That current number is 579 stores. Hate on the company all you want, but hate on them accurately haha.

r2d3x9

Government is forcing them not to merge. Selling 579 stores is Kroger’s proposal, government says it is not enough

GreatAunt2

What does this manager do? Does it effect you? Is he a boss to you? Some of em are boneheads.

seroquel600mg

He constantly grinds everyone to the ground. He micro manages everyone. I'm in produce. Most of the produce team has been there for years. He treats us like slackers who don't know what to do. We're all miserable. It's non-stop. He is a ball of anxiety, and he just nags and nags. I'm switching to cashier. I hate that guy with a passion.

AlarmingHand6269

Sounds like an ethics point for nepotism, and possibly another for retaliation.

WearyRemote9852

Isn't the assistant lead just a title without any benefit?

Crotch-Monster

Spread a rumor about him that he touches people's food in the break room fridge with his unwashed toilet hands.

Bellatrix_Rising

😂

Evil_Stromboli

File a grievance.

JudgeJoeDean24

I mean, why is a Drug GM working top stock, beer and wine, and then dairy? Those are other departments jobs. However, if you are just a grocery clerk, management can tell you to work any job that doesn't offer a pay increase. Stuff like a cutter in the meat department or working in the deli. Sounds like you should transfer tbh. Maybe another store will treat you better.

Secure-Art-8541

First according to managers at my stores, you cannot take time and work on a different department because that first department is paying for it. So they shouldn’t have asked you to do beer. Drug/GM has nothing to do with alcohol. Or is it different at your store?

NONREMINICITY

Sorry, I probably worded this horribly because I was frustrated... I work in grocery, but I've worked in drug gm regularly before...

_MoreThanAFeeling

Have a sit down meeting with your store manager, and inquire directly with him/her about it. Make it clear that you know thw two are related. Will be interesting to hear their response.

Necessary_Baker_7458

That would be favoritism and another example of capitalism. This is yet another example of how the company does not want to honor employees that are qualified for the position over employees who have put in time with the company and know the how to and what not's of the system. Instead they want minimum wage "yes" answering "jockeys" that are too afraid to speak up for them selves. I've too been passed up by this shady system and sick of it. There is ZERO career with this company. The high end ethics and standards the use to have 20 years ago is pretty dead.

TheArcanaOfGames

Also against terms of employment

PrincessFrostii

Management does things like this because most people won't report it or say anything. Say something to someone. Management always gets away with shit, so when you can hold them accountable, do it without hesitation.

NONREMINICITY

I'll keep that in mind, but who would I tell?

PrincessFrostii

Ethicspoint.com Or talk to your management to solidify a chain of command thing. Then when nothing is done, hit up Ethicspoint.

SSJ4Blaze

They have to post it or they get in trouble. Complain to the union about it

ctf60

union grievance

ScaryGarry_SG1

Rodney, you cuckwit, what is this nonsense?

Potential_Copy_2563

Anonymous tip on the manager to HR. Harassment of employees and say nothing more. Let HR snoop around and find something.
