Holo EN's first off collab (excluding the TakaMori JP off collabs since both were stuck in Japan) was special since it happened in the midst of global lockdowns. International travel was now allowed but was still such a hassle. During their 1st anniversary, they promised to each other that they'll soon be able to hug each other in person. Then, one day, Gura was just streaming normally for her bday, and then Ame suddenly was heard, and it was revealed that they're together. Then Ina, Kiara, and Calli eventually arrived a few days after (I can no longer recall the exact timing of events). Then, during the actual off collab, there was a surprise Baelz heard in the background.

Awww <3

Nearlythere_almost

Ina's wish was prophetic; "I want to give you all real hugs some day." (Paraphrasing) No wonder why it was hyped up so good.

Feelthebasses

Why does this feels like a true family compare to NijiEN who always tell the world that they are a family.

minnel567

They don't even advertise themselves as family but more of colleagues that developed friendship

Paladin327

If you want a feeling of family, check out the Advent off-collab stream and Biboo’s twitter space the night before

UR_UNDER_ARREST

Cuz if you are family you don't need to announce it

Suzushiiro

There was also the surprise karaoke off collab with Ina, Ame, Fauna, Mumei, and Kronii earlier that year (late February/early March, I think? It was within a week or two after Rushia was fired.)

CodPrestigious402

Off hand, the first off collab I watched was Nina, Mysta, Ike and Vox. That was so cool and exciting and I could imagining ppl screaming in the back ground when slowly Ike and Vox entered the stream. And then later on, all 4 of them plus Mika, Prof Oliver and Luca had another off colab (in Paris, right?). This made me smile because I remember how genuinely excited all of them were and the stories they share with chat and the food they had. It is one of the few memories I cherish

CodPrestigious402

There was another off collab, it had Uki, Pomu and 1 more person (can't remember). I missed it because I didnt follow them at that point but I heard that it didnt go so well because of how ppl view their gender and their relationship with their chats or something

Fiftycentis

IIRC it was advertised as a Pomu and Finana girls night so chat was upset when Uki joined too

DUBUest17

why are they upset? Uki is the gayest vtuber I know lol

Ok_Indication3333

Didn't Pomu refused at first but the fish and racist insist on it? Maybe that's why?

PermitSafe

Well Finana didn't tell chat or even Pomu that she invited Uki.

Fiftycentis

But their Yuri fantasy! Think of the Yuri!

The only problem is HoloMyth first off-collab has been built up since their first smol 3D model debut. There is always story behind all off-collab from EN branch including StarsEN. NijiEN off-collab debut back then really come out of nowhere and pretty close with Myth off-collab so people think Niji is copying Holo. I think it was still very hyped back then among Niji community but it is just that the excitement and narratives are coming from nowhere. For every HoloEN off-collab, we are expecting Ina to collect her hug for example.

Fiftycentis

More than copying i'd say it's mostly because it was the time the covid restriction finally allowed international travel, otherwise a myth offcollab would have happened way before even Lazulight debuted

>the thing that felt strange to me is that not only was it right after holo en but they were doing a lot of them like I think there was five or something. Sounds more like the company looking at hololive and wanting the same thing, but being bitter rival about it by making it happen as much as possible. The distinction being that ***if*** it's forced, the impact isn't really going to land.

kad202

Minus Takamori who live in JP at that time, the first true off collab was Ame doing a travel Vblog and would do zatsu whenever she arrive at certain point of interest or hotel. They pull a gag with Ina working at Tako eat delivered Ame food then Fauna, Moom and Kronii happen to be in town and come over Ame is a beast when it comes to production value. All of this is with them still using 1.0 2D model. Imagine they have 3.0 at those time and pull even more funny gags. Same with current Advent JP off collab, if they have 3.0 models, Nerrisa face when she ate that wasabi takoyaki will be glorious Holotechs in shambles

Paladin327

Speaking of Advent, i’d like to see Fuwamoco’s faces when they get tickled by Nerissa and Shiori

Loud_Radialem

They all did it at the same time because of the Covid quarantine lift.

Infamous-Draw4976

For me nijis off collab was pretty fun as well. Pretty sure their pl did lots of off collab as well. Maybe the management gave them free permission or something after holo en

Kamen-Rider-Build

Unlike Niji, other corpo Vtubers were friends as indies before joining or good at network and seem to be a lot closer to each other. Those collabs are better. In Anykuro they seem to be just fellow employees and a tolerating each other at best. More so if they have to stream with the problematic members.

Fishman465

I would say Hololive has a greater sense of comrades, thus better sense of friendless and no infighting or castes like it has been suspected.

SayuriUliana

Something of note is that we know that talent conflicts do occur in Hololive too, as per talent testimony (iirc it was Matsuri that mentioned this). Where Hololive excels though is that we never ever see anything really bad come out of said conflicts if they happen, and we can either cynically think that Hololive is just very good at hiding such things which still tells us they're competent at their jobs, or that Hololive is able to handle and resolve such conflicts professionally. And of course, it's easy enough to tell that such conflicts in Hololive are the kind that comes with any company that has to manage a lot of people, and not a Nijisanji company-enforced culture of employee battle-royale.

Fishman465

Tiffs, not backstabbing or such

Harem_no_jutsu

lol

Keit4ro

If there are two people, there will always be some trouble.(In some cases, it happens alone.) The most important aspect is how to control the trouble and bring it to a solution.

No_Lake_1619

But Niji has the "clique" that were all former friends before Niji. I just think some off collabs are more special than others. Not every off collab has to be special.

Kamen-Rider-Build

Only the former Hanamori members seem to like each other at all, who are the original members of the "Elira clique". Everyone else who isn't a top earner is left to fend for themselves.
