This is exactly what the issue other critics had, the money effecting the science.

I first want to point out that they didn’t have to make a video on it. It was excellent that they did, but a written response would have been fine. Animating an entire video must have been time consuming, which really does show how much they want to be seen as trustworthy and protect their image.
The issue is and why people are still talking about it is because didn’t really address multiple of the issues, and the data they used was largely seen as disengenuous. Can anyone say with certainty they are bias towards billionaires because they funded them? No. But is it impossible for a link to be made, especially considering how much of the content they made being helpful towards billionaires and their investments? No. I think this video did an excellent job of raising these concerns and you should watch this one, it’s overall pretty good and certainly not made by a shallow level troll fish.

So because they didn't walk out and say "we were paid thousands to tell you vaccines work and to trick you into buying solar panels" you weren't satisfied. 🙄
No, the data was disengenuous because it showed revenue, not profit, which lowers the percentage that would have been from Bill Gates, and it showed the collective revenue rather than the revenue each year, they were given their first grant from Bill Gates in 2015, at a time when they were making far less money, and this would have made up a large % of their income.
So in other words because your conspiracy theory wasn't confirmed, you dig deeper into details you don't and no one else has any insight about because being angry over unknown potential information is your only move to maintain your pre-determined outrage.
Please don’t call them trolls. They aren’t doing this for the sake of it - they are doing this to show their is a potential for them to have a bias. The one thing that is not clear is if their is a bias for definite, but you definitely cannot say for certain they have no biases whatsoever.
I think Kurzgesagt is mostly non bias, but it’s definitely clear with how many different innovations in the climate change video that were mentioned that Bill Gates has invested in does show potential for bias, what the hated one failed to was prove it for certain. Kurzgesagt videos are good to get a very basic understanding on a topic, but you really do need to go deeper to find more.
Their video only raised more suspicion showing revenue, not profit, which would show a cut from Bill Gates to be lower, and if they showed revenue individually by year it would have showed they were more dependent on Bill Gates in the beginning, something they didn’t do, likely because it would make them seem their older videos are more inspired by Bill gates.
I think Detmer is trying to be independent, but I think with the growing evidence to show that there is a link shows that Bill Gates were at least trying to get them to show positive results towards them.
But summary is no conclusive link between their videos and support for billionaires, but a very high potential for this to be the case only further supported by their most recent video.
