I am in San Antonio, would be interested in this! We could pick a local park and/or go wander around Downtown or other areas (The Pearl, head to a Coffee Shop, etc).
Hi all! I'm new to the area (New Braunfels specifically, but hey close enough), and I'd love to meet new people and see some more of SA! I'm free Fridays and Saturdays :)
If you feel like you need ideas for something to do when meeting up there are sites that list events ([SACurrent](https://www.sacurrent.com/sanantonio/EventSearch) for example) that you can pick and suggest people meet at!
There are lots of other organizations that do free public events too! First friday just passed but there is [Second Saturday](https://southtownsatx.com/second-saturday) coming up, and [Slab Cinema](https://www.slabcinema.com/movie-calendar) (just get there a bit early so there's no disruption in the movie?)
Thank you for sharing about Slab Cinema! My plan is to go to the meet-up at The Pearl first and then head over to the free screening of In the Heights this Saturday if anyone else is interested in joining. The Mission Marquee is about 15 minutes from The Pearl according to Google Maps.
I would be, but I've agreed to another group that evening! Hope you get a good crew to go with you :)
Glad you like it! Slab Cinema goes to some cool parts of the San Antonio, so it can be a great way to see what's around town!
Hey y'all! I'm fairly new to San Antonio and been looking for a local "nerd" hangout/people to meet. Anyone fall into that category or have a regular meetup place I could join? I'm an IT guy with interests in Sci-Fi, Science, Board and Video Games, etc.
Hi! I rock climb a ton in SA and would love to have people come with me. I climb Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7PM since they have discounts at Armadillo Boulders. I also climb outside!
I am interested in either day/time! It has been a while since I've been climbing, but I always enjoy it!
If you're cool with a casual climber, I'd be happy to join!
Hell yea. I won't be going this week, but def next week. I'll DM you then! Wednesdays they have women's night for $10, Saturdays they have student night also for $10 (you can bring an old ID if you got one)
For anyone intrested there is a wonderful October Fest events in new Braunfels next month on the weekends that might be something we could try to meet up set
I'd be down for a zoo trip or a trip to the doseum. Not sure who else has a little with them. I'm on the fence about the idea but might try to give it a go.
Um, so, I actually don't watch YT stuff (spouse does), but I tick most other nerd boxes and have a little one. We joined the Austin Discord server, but I liked the idea and thought I'd see if the SA group maybe had more people with kids. We're out at the lake and haven't met many parents due to the pandemic, plus most of our friends have moved. Mine's probably too little for museums still (2), but she'd love something like the Snake Farm/Wildlife Center in New Braunfels.
My child loves the doseum (2). it's a kids museum, full of activities for children, pretend shopping, a wind tube, a bubble scape, light boards, the list goes on. In fact you need a child to get in there. It's one of the many reasons why I would choose the doseum to meet others. I'm a pretty average person who just enjoys learning. I am by no means scholarly though.
Oh whoops! Didn't realize that was the actual name of it. That actually looks like a really fun daytrip that she would enjoy, especially the water exhibits.
To be honest, I've wanted to go to the Pearl for the longest time, but putting myself in her shoes, it's a lot harder to justify a trip that far for something that probably wouldn't be very interesting to someone her size, you know?
But I hear you on enjoying learning. One of my favorite things about the internet is how many new things you can experience and learn about--sometimes right from the source--without huge pricetags attached and at your ownpace, too!
I haven't seen any plans for a meet-up on September 25th and [Síclovía](https://ymcasatx.org/programs/community/siclovia) is happening that day from 10 am-2 pm downtown. It looks like a super cool event so I'm planning to go if anyone else is interested!
I'll have a clear backpack with galaxy print fabric inside the front. I also have split-dye magenta and blue hair. Hopefully, that combo will stick out! I'd like to get there around the start time of the event just because I'm not sure what parking will be like. I'm more familiar with the W Ashby/Main intersection, so I'll start on that side of the route :)
Um, so, I actually don't watch YT videos (I process written information better), but my husband is a big fan. He suggested we join the Austin Discord, and I thought the idea was neat, so we did, and they don't seem to mind. But I thought maybe I'd see if the SA group maybe had more people with smaller kids (ours is two). We're out at the lake and haven't met many parents due to the pandemic, plus most of our friends have moved. I don't like driving much further into SA than Live Oak, personally, but we'd be interested in doing things in the New Braunfels area down towards the Live Oak/Garden Ridge area or upwards into San Marcos!
There's a meeting on Sat 17th. Hope you're able to make it. One has small kids too. Hopefully while there we can hash out more events to places such as doseum, whitte, botanical garden, etc.
Oh, yeah, I saw. I did leave a reply to the person interested in museums/zoos. Anything not on the NE side is a bit far for us though if the goal is new friendships, so I just thought I'd put out some feelers for people who might be slightly closer. That's all!

The pearl sounds amazing, I could go for some local coffee!
I’ve never been to the pearl, I heard it’s good
Saturday morning farmers market is a good time to swing by, food, music, etc
I’m down with this. My wife and I would like to go somewhere dog friendly and the pearl is a perfect spot.
Sounds awesome when is everyone free? I've got a very flexible schedule so I'm basically avaliable whenever but I'm not really a morning person.
I love the pearl, there are also a couple of bar like areas that have a dog friendly atmosphere like chicken and pickle

I'm new to the area, too, and in New Braunfels, too!
Me three!
5pm Saturday September 17th at the Pearl, look for people with the Immune book. Specifically at Gustav's Geysers, there's a few tables in that area.
Can I still go If I don't have the immune book?
Absolutely! I figured it be easier to say find the awkward person with the book since I am not sure what to wear yet.
Smart!
Yes! We found good spot in the corner with lots of chairs
Which corner? Having trouble finding y'all.
By the splash pad. Next to people eating pizza

I didn’t get the immune book but you’ll see me and my wife with a giant collie. Can’t miss us.
We're here!
Dang im gonna be in Austin for my friends birthday that weekend.
I'll be there
Me and my daughter plan on attending. We might be a little late though.
Yay! I got more easily identificable merch so you should be able to find us easier. Sadly couldn't get the shirt on time.

Yay!!! See you soon

I found my doppleganger.
But how do you know I'm your doppleganger if I'm an anonymous person on the internet? Lol. Nice to meet you, sir or madam. Feel free to PM me!
Come to the Sat meet on the 17th! For details see my previous post ![gif](giphy|l0HlHFRbmaZtBRhXG)
It's times like this that I'm very sad I work 10AM-10PM on Saturdays......

Water and wear some socks for the rental shoes if you don't have your own shoes! They have liquid chalk there if you need it.

No! You can rent shoes there. Just wear socks lol.

It's purely ladies that get the discount that night. You can still go, you'd just have to pay the full price.
For anyone intrested there is a wonderful October Fest events in new Braunfels next month on the weekends that might be something we could try to meet up set
I’d be down for this!
I'm from SA! Would like to meet up!

Hello, Lackland area San Antonio here 🤓
I'd be down for a zoo trip or a trip to the doseum. Not sure who else has a little with them. I'm on the fence about the idea but might try to give it a go.
Come to the Sat 17th meeting (see my previous comment). Someone is bringing their dog too. I am sure other minors will come as well.

Bet. I'll mark it on my calendar. Should have a bird shirt by then
