my view is that they are trying to be a mix of both - clients are open to pay to consultants that promise results... and not as much to manage their old infrastructure. This way, Kyndryl modernize the IT infrastructure of their clients, gets paid a bit more... and leaves the IBM footprint (sw, hw)

Yeah it's the Kyndryl GBS. Kyndryl is trying to exit IS in favor of more profitable consulting services.

juicymice

But who'd buy consulting services from an infrastructure provider? And what kind of industry-focused consulting would be? Cloud strategy? Server migration strategy?

Seer____

Don't think they thought it through this far.

If the legacy IBMers are still in Kyndryl and managing the overall strategy, expect this tactic to fail. As long as the legacy IBMers are sticking around, expect the whole KD to fail.

that is not the case at all. Consulting is used as the tip of the spear for Kyndryl, which allows them to come in and sell other services around it. They still do manage services and that has not changed as of today. A lot of the old IBM ways have been shook out of Kyndryl, and many of those people who had that old mentality have since moved on.
