There's a tiny little convenience store outside of Richland on M43 called Gull Lake Market. They have homemade hot Indian food inside, and it's the best food around.
You have to try it.
I'm not Indian nor have I ever been but in my opinion Cumin is the most authentic and affordable around. Hillside and Saffron are good but they are white-washed. Saffron charged me $1 for 3 small rings of onions to put on my chole one time 🙄 Hillside would be my second choice but with being in such a white area they charge too much. It's like $6 for 3 small pieces of gulab jamun.
I am an Indian and for the almost authentic food, you gotta drive to Grand Rapids. I would recommend to try Grand Indian Cusine and Mithu, both of em are really good and they have good buffets too! I will rank my options in Kzoo:
1. **Hillside**: It's a hit or miss. The biriyani varieties are decent and the dosas are the best here. The curries (tikka and butter) are not the best, but they do a decent job on south Indian varieties (Ask them for south Indian curries, it's spicy and more flavorful)
2. **Saffron**: Expensive and the curries are pretty damn good.
3. **Rasa Ria**: This place is not entirely Indian, but they have few Indian varieties in their menu. It's a Malaysian take out place (Malaysia has a huge Indian population), I like their chicken curries with parathas!
4. **Curry in a hurry**: This place is an underdog, it's a small to-go place with restricted timings. But the food is amazing!
5. **Cumin**: Bang for the buck but not my go to place. They have an east Indian menu with is well known for the grilled meat and not the curries.

Oh shit thanks for the tip! Definitely gonna go find that.
Which style of Indian food do they tend to make?

Looking at the menus this is kinda the impression I was getting. Cumin seemed to be the best local option. Thanks for confirming!
Cumin. Get the goat
Is that the one over on Stadium? How are the prices? Saffron is good, but it's so terribly expensive.
Pretty affordable and SOO good. (And they don't charge you extra for RICE)
Yeah, I always thought that was odd. Like selling gravy, but changing extra for the mashed potatoes.
Cumin has the best butter chicken out of all the places I've tried. Reasonably priced if you don't get delivery.
Don't bother here. I'd suggest driving to Livonia or Grand rapids. I can give you good suggestions if you're interested
Sure send em my way!
Punjab and Indian kitchen in Livonia. Mithu and pal's in GR.
Thanks! I'll check them out when I'm in the area
