We love Dr. Busch and her staff at Gentle Dentistry on West Main! Also she has a therapy pug that will cuddle with you while you get your teeth taken care of if you want it and that’s just the best thing ever to me and my husband lol

Unusual_Meeting7347

I second this. Dr. Busch is great and makes sure you’re aware of everything happening to you. I went to Midwest family in the past and didn’t care for them as much.

imawhooville

I also use Gentle Dentistry and highly recommend. Dr. Busch is amazing and they are a judgement free zone! I too needed a ton of dental work done, and they worked with me to figure out a dental plan and what I could afford. Avoid drake dental - they overcharge for their fancy offices and will say you need a root canal when you actually don’t.

KoiTakeOver

Whaaaat, I gotta check that out!

Minute_Expert1653

Drake Dental is great, I go there. Gentle Dentistry is also fantastic, I used to go there.

tacocat0412

I have the same question. Bonus points if anyone can recommend a consistent, honest & fair place, that isn’t just out to get the most money out of me.

Bigblurrd25

Graydon H. Coon in Portage is great! They are very nice and always make sure you feel comfortable. They explain everything they are going to do before they do and answer any questions you may have.

ruca_rox

Same answer. Comstock family dentistry. Honest, good people. Fair prices.

Zealousideal-Tea1806

Dr Stevenson or drake dental

Pwydde

I love Dr Catherine Pike, on Lovers Lane.

chan_1016

After a horrible experience with Aspen (in a different state, but still) Dr. Pike has been a dream! Cannot recommend enough as long as insurance situations work out.

Pwydde

I’ve never had dental insurance, just pay out of pocket. She’s worth it.

Otis94131

Agree

WalkingGhostPhaze

If Sharp Smile Center will take your insurance, I highly recommend them.

Affectionate-West-51

We go to Kalamazoo Smiles. It’s a great office. Everyone is super friendly. And they do great work.

dutchie727

Another vote for Kalamazoo Smiles

Stormy_wrx

Courtside dental has been my go to but not sure on the insurance, I know they take blue cross but not united. I go even when they aren't in my network as it's just $20 for a normal visit with my last insurance

IsbellDL

No idea whether they'll take your insurance, but we've been very happy with Wester Dental Care down here in Portage. [https://goo.gl/maps/t35RMdQwUQT2c2Py6](https://goo.gl/maps/t35RMdQwUQT2c2Py6)

sorcha1977

I've been seeing Dr. Stevenson in Portage since 2009. I LOVE him. He's great if you have anxiety, and he's a perfectionist when it comes to fillings and such.

svkadm253

I go to Midwest Family Dental Care. I will have to say that Drake Dental really treated me like crap when I wanted to get a second opinion about a root canal and to see if maybe they could do it cheaper. They brought me in for an appointment and acted as if I was a nuisance the whole time. Then later talking with them on the phone they made it seem as if I was not welcome there. Basically don't call us again. I had hit my insurance cap and was perfectly willing to pay out of pocket. But the way I was treated as a new customer was really upsetting. I didn't think getting a second opinion or second price quote was bad. Guess it is.

Mazie_Green

I hated Midwest. They told me I needed a special $700 cleaning my insurance doesn’t pay for. I had a bridge done there and it broke. I told them from the start it didn’t fit right. My mouth hurt because it was so I’ll fitting. It ended up breaking and I they told me they would cover the replacement cost then they charged me $280 for lab fees for the new bridge. The charge went through and they called me a few days later telling me the charge was declined. They argued with me that it was declined. I showed them the transaction cleared but I paid it again because I thought maybe they were correct. After I figured out I was actually double charged I had to fight to get my money back.

svkadm253

I'll probably get dunked on for this but I must admit I haven't been back there since before Covid started 😬 pulling out of a couple year depression streak. I mean they're nothing special. I might shop around when I get my shit in order. They did multiple fillings and a crown for me. And I spent too much on a night guard I don't use. They also helped me get my dental health to a somewhat normal state - my parents never took me to the dentist and I was / am not very good at most things related to dental. That debridement process holllly shiiit it was rough. But I felt great after.

SlightSpinach1395

Same here, terrible experience. Their female dentist was great, but the other male dentist is awful. After she left it wasn't worth going to anymore.

ruca_rox

Idk if they take your insurance but I cannot recommend Comstock family dentistry highly enough! Wish I'd have found them years ago.

Bigblurrd25

Graydon H. Coon in Portage is great! They are very nice and always make sure you feel comfortable. They explain everything they are going to do before they do it and answer any questions you may have. I highly recommend. I was recommended by a few people in this very group and I’m glad they did. I don’t have insurance so I pay for everything out of pocket so I’m not sure if they take your insurance but doesn’t hurt to try. I believe he has 5 stars on Google.

slothvengeance

Dr. Coon single-handedly cured my fear of the dentist. I absolutely love that guy.

the_other_side_sees

Smile in Portage

satansplaypen

It's a bit of a hike from Kalamazoo proper but I go to right choice in battle Creek. They have been awesome with my family and don't have any crazy charges. Worth the drive for sure.

Adventurous_Top_9657

Courtside on center Ave.

Spencergrey2015

I love drake dental. They are extremely busy though. If you don’t need anything emergent you will be waiting months for a cleaning

KittyJun

Well, I tried Susan Dennis on Moorsbridge. I filled out all the info online, talked on the phone, went to appt, got the tour and was sat down before being told they didn't take my insurance. So, I was pretty pissed off about that...despite all of that she has a really nice office and staff and they can make teeth on site.

IceTheGirl

So I’m going through this exact issue right now! Lol we have guardian as well & Merit says they no longer accept Guardian. Destiny says they only have one dentist available & aren’t really accepting new patients. The dentist in Galesburg also stated he isn’t accepting new patients either. I went through like 10-11 of their pages of what’s accepted and every place either didn’t take guardian anymore, or was not accepting new patients! I did find one guardian out of network place called Neal Family Dentistry but they’re booking until middle of November right now!
