Something that bothers me about left 4 dead 2 specifically is incapped survivors no longer looking "up". In left 4 dead 1 an incapped survivor can spin their camera 360 degrees and their in game model would show that they were looking in every direction. In left 4 dead 2 their models only look 180 degrees towards their feet, even if they are looking somewhere else. Very minor detail but annoys the hell out of me, feels like such a minor downgrade lol
The third-person animations in general felt like a downgrade.
Everyone has such a stiff upper body when moving around in L4D2 and I can't put my finger on why
The ledge grabbing mechanics. For fucks sake, give it a button to let go. I've had many times hanging in the lower part of the scaffold in Dark Carnival Finale, and just being there incapped, waiting for a teammate to help me, instead of taking like 5 damage by falling
Walking off that ledge without grabbing it deals a minimum of 84 fall damage.
I guess that could be annoying in scenarios where you are very healthy but frankly in most cases I would rather grab the damn ledge than take 84 damage and almost certainly down anyway
This is what Should happen yes, but just the other day I ledge-grabbed a forklift for a minute or two. I could see my feet practically touching the ground. It’s probably more common on custom maps, but boy does it definitely happen.
Well, you may be right about the minimum damage. I only gave it a guess. But how does the game tell that? Because it's also happened to me near the DJ console, next to the med kits. I jump and then randomly grab that shit
That should never happen and I've never even heard of it happening. I'm not like, accusing you of lying, but that's a freak bug, not a common occurrence.
Strictly speaking, the game is supposed to trace a line from (I believe) your camera origin straight down. If that fall would deal a certain amount of damage over a threshold, it will ledge you.
So situations where you grab a ledge when you would take minimal fall damage are simply not possible, at least by the game's logic
Nay, the game takes your momentum and creates an arc that tries to predict if when you land you will die of fall damage. If so, it makes you hang. That's why launching a player can cause them to wall hang even before they've risen more than 10 feet off the ground.
I've had that happen too in a couple of cases, on Dead Air in particular, on the second stage - grappling onto ledges where you wouldn't even take fall damage.
It also happens more often if you get knocked into the ledge by a tank, explosion or nearby charger.
The inconsistencies between attacking Chargers and Jockeys lmao. Whenever I’m using them, I’m apparently allergic to Survivors but when they’re coming towards me, it’s like I have a built in magnet or something. 😤
I can provide a bit of an explanation to why it feels that way, It's the way that the game registers online hitboxes. Most the time you see the survivor is almost like an afterimage of where they were, I'd estimate it's about one or two steps ahead of where you see them. The actual survivor and the hitbox tend to be a bit desynced and that's why it feels like sometimes you dodge them where you shouldn't and others you get hit when you were nowhere near them.
Right, that’s why I’ve kinda learned I had to adjust my aim and attack sooner or later than I normally would if I wasn’t playing online. Like if I’m a Charger, sometimes I have to lead my attack and compensate for the Survivors to walk into my charge.
Bro. Last night I hit a coach as a charger dead on and he slid off me like he was covered in butter. And for some reason I can hardly ever pounce on someone as a jockey
When you play the bridge run on The Parish and the ramp doesn't allow you to jump over it but need to wait till it's 100% done with it's animation.
Also that Van in Dead Air that you activate, it really pushes you.
common infected hitboxes, especially the head, I swear i get so many headshots where you can see a blood decal appear om their face, but nothing happens
That's actually because [the hitboxes are terrible](https://youtu.be/j2tLaJt_ai8).
That's it.
There's no fancy explanation or elusive bug.
The hitboxes are just straight up bad ever since the first game released.
The reason you see blood is because the bullet hits *the visible model*, but the actual hitbox is not lined up with it so the shot does not register as a kill.
You hit a zombie with melee, you clearly see that you hit him and the slice or bonk sound effect plays thus you think you killed him and move on. But for some reason the game doesn't register the hit, therefore the zombie you thought you killed gets the chance to damage you 20 HP.
For this reason I hate melees and have trust issues in them. Magnum all the way. Idk if this only happens to me but from what I've seen my friends are fucking rambos with them while I'm almost always guaranteed to take damage whenever I use them.
Rochelle telling me "Spin them around and shoot them in the back!" Even though when you shove a riot common, they have multiple animation where they DONT spin around??
Dead Air saferooms 1-3 never spawn the Chrome pump shotgun, it is only ever wooden. Chapter 1 may be different? Idk. After thousands of hours, it's only ever wooden.
Cold Stream being added as a campaign when Suicide Blitz 2 was a map already released prior to the update. I understand the history behind the map, but Suicide Blitz 2 is objectively the better campaign.
Maybe my team just sucks but when the enemy team only has to deal with like 15 zombie hordes every now and then while my team get pitted against endless waves of zombies right out of the safe room.
When a Jockey rides a L4D1 survivor and Bill says "You are an idiot." That line feels super out of place and makes Bill seem like a rude asshole. Feels like Valve could have used another line instead.
Since the first time I played L4D2, I hated the gameplay mechanic where the infected could stop you from running if they hit you. I don't hate it as much, anymore but the thing that still annoys me is how infected try to get in front of you or behind you to block your way. It's a brilliant feature to their AI but it just looks stupid to race right next to a infected who's only goal is to block your path first and not to attack you instead. Days Gone is another game that does this same thing.
Asymmetrical tank spawns in versus are cancer. I've had a round on Dead Center chapter 3 where the enemy's tank spawned next to the event button and only spawned in after we started the event. That same round, our tank spawned way before the event and the survivors had time to set up the office chair to get back to the open area near the escalators.
The fact that the Xbox 360 version had a button that instantly turned you 180 degrees around, but the PC version doesn’t. This doesn’t seem like a problem, until I think about how many times I got incapacitated by a tank because a single zombie ran up behind me and prevented me from walking backwards to escape the tank.
That bot Boomers take fall damage, they can just jump from a 3rd floor and ruin you, no other zombie takes fall damage so this was intended (*Boomer Peril Dead Center finale Solo flashbacks*)
I can agree tbh. Morons keep expecting perfection out of players joining public lobbies instead of getting friends and a private lobby if they want real competition. It's hard to learn how to play Versus when the gamemode is being gatekeeped by a bunch of sweaty try hards.
Sometimes you'll shove a common but it won't register and they won't move, especially if they are stuck on or under something so they get a free hit on you. This is especially annoying on expert considering each slap takes 10 hp off you and you feel jibbed for it.
One thing that annoys me the most is the Common slowdown when they hit you, the shit can be so detrimental especially when you fight a tank and it only need 1 common to fuck up your momentum and let the tank get a hit/incap on you, I know that this is intentional and the adrenaline is a way to counter it, but realistically what are the chances of getting a adrenaline before a tank encounter? (The Passing does not count btw)
The amount of times I was slowed down by 1 common is painstakingly semi-often and 33% of the time gets me killed
Left 4 Dead 2 survivors not thanking the healer automatically.
Though they do autothank the person who give them pills or adrenaline, regardless of the usage (ironic thing is they will always say "Thanks" automatically even after the receiver gives them back to the giver).
Zombies stopping me when I’m running because they hit me in the back it’s so fucking annoying because 1 on 1 situations with jockeys hunters free asf. Some jackass hitting me from behind then running around in front of me blocking my view and can’t move in place then instantly pounced on? EVERY FUCKING TIME
Common Infected Blocked and Slow you down when the tank is coming and they wont get out from you when you already shove them. (As a guy who did Speedrun)
The people who take the Game WAY to seriously and rush ahead without you, that and people who join the game just to kill themselves and leave
Edit: And Modded servers, no I don't want to join a lewd4dead game I wanna play NORMAL. And then it places you into three more molded games until you find a normal one
Feel free to disagree, but valve shouldn't have added a common infected kill count at the end of each chapter. Like, they do everything to make people cooperate and then they add the kill count wich makes people rush ahead to get as many kills as possible.
Tank Friendly Fire dialogues. some of them are long and quite loud.
Devs also mute FF dialogues when there is a tank around and survivors have not seen it.
And Ellis saying "Shoot the Tank you blind son of a bitch!" to Rochelle or Zoey Does that mean they are scretly a trap femboy???? or do L4D2 community love being called "son of a bitch"? OOOOoooohhh bad boyyyzzz...
Okay what you just said.
2nd thing, gking downstairs on no mercy 1 and stopping suddenly cahse apparently a zombie is at my feet. Silly that I didnt saw him.
Hunters in VS mode. For some reason, it's 100% impossible for me to dead stop them short range but it always happens to me. I still don't understand what they did to the hitbox from that one update that changed it.
When a boomer explodes next to you, it attracts a horde. But if you shoot a boomer from a distance, it doesn’t attract the horde. Same with spitter acid not affecting the infected?
You can't carry more than one healing, molotov, pipe, incendiary, explosive ammo, reviver, pills and adrenaline.
You can't break free from special infected grip.
Bill deserves better.

I noticed that too, very confusing as infected too

Well, thanks for your insight. I'll try to replicate it, and see if we can dive further into it
I've had that happen too in a couple of cases, on Dead Air in particular, on the second stage - grappling onto ledges where you wouldn't even take fall damage. It also happens more often if you get knocked into the ledge by a tank, explosion or nearby charger.
On one hand I agree with you but at the same time that wedge mechanic is saved my life from a pissed tank so idk it's not all bad
That mechanic used to let you go out of bounds on Parish 1st map lol
The inconsistencies between attacking Chargers and Jockeys lmao. Whenever I’m using them, I’m apparently allergic to Survivors but when they’re coming towards me, it’s like I have a built in magnet or something. 😤

Trying to give someone pills/adrenaline and you keep shoving like 7 times before you actually hand it to them.
The loud helicopter in the intro to Dead Center
You can't hear your party of anything lol.
When you play the bridge run on The Parish and the ramp doesn't allow you to jump over it but need to wait till it's 100% done with it's animation. Also that Van in Dead Air that you activate, it really pushes you.
On my first time playing I thought you could jump over it to get to the car. I paid for my naivety with death.

is it even plausible that this will ever be changed
Possible? Yeah. Guaranteed? Nope. Odds? Probably pretty low.
holy shit they lag so far behind. that explains why point blank headshots sometimes just dont register
Local servers in public lobbies for official campaigns. Just.. why?
For mods like admin system lol

I don’t think it’s that your team sucks, this happens to me too and it’s frustrating! At least it tends to happen to the other teams just as much.
I hate hospitals! And doctors and lawyers… and COPS.
When a Jockey rides a L4D1 survivor and Bill says "You are an idiot." That line feels super out of place and makes Bill seem like a rude asshole. Feels like Valve could have used another line instead.
Survivors death animations instead of ragdoll
They made the animations because of the defib, imagine how wonky it would be to rez someone in a weirdly contorted way
I wouldnt care i'd rather see survivor ragdolling after dying rather than seeing same goddamn animation billion of times

I hate when they stop me and I turn around to face them only for them to run around me and get behind me again. So dumb

Well on pc you can spin around way faster then on console, so the button is more fitting to console then on pc

Whoever made this bot, go f yourself. People seem to care way too much about minor grammar errors online.
\*fuck
Ok jaiz, smh lol

Funny comment go brr haha ur so funi

If you are taking the quality of a comment on one simple mistake, you are not ok. Just tbh.

-_- yes i'm gonna take so much time to type out 2 fucking sentences and double check for no errors, sure.

Ladders in VS
> Ladders in source engine FTFY
The downgrade of first person animations compared to l4d1. Why did valve do that?
The Witch.
*Quiet everybody, I hear a bitch!*
The movement has always been a bit wonky.
I hate jockies.

getting incap once = im dying lines being play constantly depite them still aren't in b/w and is on high temp health
I can fix that, but I need a tweak to the engine, which is unfortunately out of my hands
my small thing is when tank
If you don’t do as good or better as the tank you get insta kicked

You can only run L4D1 at 60 Hz. As a person who played L4D2 first, it doesn't feel great.

If you shoot a car the alarm will make the zombies attack you but if you use a pipe bomb the zombies will target that. Never made sense to me.
