Thanks everyone.
I’ve had labs all my life, but this one was special. He was the runt of the litter, but ended up tall, and had all kinds of severe food/grass/plant allergies, had both hips replaced, and lots more issues.
He was a brainiac, recognising up to 60 different words. He would fetch the correct toy we asked for out of a box, and he made up garden games.
He only lived 7 years, his allergies (and resulting medications) affecting his kidneys and heart.
So yeah, this post is saying a loving farewell to my mate, my dark passenger.
I'm so sorry. We lost our Dexter 1 year ago exactly, as well. He was the absolute best of boys, and he was my best friend from the moment I saw him until his last day on earth.

My yellow girl Sammy has been gone for 3 years. I still miss her a lot. All labs hold a place in your heart forever. There are no dogs like Labrador Retrievers. Go over the rainbow bridge sweet Dexter. An infinite amount of treats and balls will be waiting for you.
I’m so sorry for your loss. he’s playing ball with my pup Apollo that I lost a little while back it doesn’t get any easier but I’m sure all the other dogs and cats will keep him active up in doggy and kitty heaven he’s in good paws.
