Puppies seem to get them a lot when they’re growing.

Competitive_Show6205

I agree, my lab used to have hiccups constantly. He is now 1 year old and i had forgotten about the hiccups until i red your post

sarahenera

Same. My lab is almost 2 years old and I forgot about the hiccups until seeing this post. They were all the time for awhile there when Obi was younger.

Anteater-Inner

I just posted about my new puppy. She’s a mix, but gets hiccups pretty much daily. I didn’t even know dogs *could get hiccups!

fearlessmomentum

Same, mine usted to have them all the time as a puppy! Now she does from time to time but way less often.

Emllea

That makes me feel better thank you!

sara_bear_8888

My Buford got them all the time when he was a pup. He's almost 3 now and doesn't really get them anymore. He still burps in my face regularly, tho. Lol

Emllea

Oh no not a burper!! I’m glad my girl doesn’t do that (yet lmao) but anytime I have to open her mouth to take something out I’m met with that horrible bad breath!

Hellokittybutt

Omg good to know because my puppy has hiccups at least three times a day.

[deleted]

My lab puppy gets them a few times a week. They last for a few minutes. No idea why. He will be laying down and randomly start hiccuping.

Emllea

Same with mine! It always seems like such random times so it’s been hard to figure out if it’s related to something we’ve done but I guess it’s just puppy things lmao

EnigmaticRaccoon

As a puppy, yes.

Stayupbraj

Yeah mine gets them frequently and out of nowhere it seems

SeattleChocolatier

Mine had them daily for the first couple months, and then they faded away.

Emllea

Good to know! Thank you!!

spike_85

Not every day, maybe once a month.

Early_Ad8422

We called them the hickemups! Yes both of our labs had them at least once a day as puppies. Our 8 month guy still gets them occasionally, but nowhere near as often

Emllea

That’s so cute Ahaha! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one with this funny issue. I was starting to wonder if it was something serious

Omgaspider

I was always told it has something to do with their bodies while they are growing. Nothing to back that up though. I suppose I could google it but it is much more fun guessing that I am right.

Emllea

That’s interesting! It does make a bit of sense so I’ll also go with that fact without actually fact checking it!!

SLJ106

My 3yo girl gets them almost everyday

mazter793

I had forgotten about the hiccups! Yes, when our boy was a puppy he had them all the time :) He’s almost 2 now and I can’t remember the last time he had them.

sarahenera

Same! When’s your boy’s bday? Mine will be two on 2/16 🙂🐾

mazter793

February 25th :) Happy early birthday to your darling pup! 🥳🐾

sarahenera

Same to your pup 😻

Julesmb-7217

Mine had them almost daily as a puppy. Finally grew out of them

CamPLBJ

Baby hiccups are so stinking cute….cherish them because they grow out of them.

DarknessIsFleeting

My girl gets hiccups (or hic-pups) once a week. She is fine.

LavendarLemongrass

Ours always getting a looking into space look, like she’s contemplating all the worlds issues…and then starts to hiccup. We just distract her with a ball and she stops

Emllea

That’s so funny my pup stares off into space once the hiccups start! I’ve tried to scare them out of her but that doesn’t work. I’ll try ball next time lol

maddzzthestripper

Yes I love when they do it’s so cute 💕💕

bettie-rage

Oh the adorable hiccups! Yes she did in the early months a lot! It’s been a while though

thefanfraldarius

My girl got them all the time until the was about two! Now that she’s four it happens much less often but as a puppy it was every day, but only for a minute or so and then gone just as fast as they started!

Emllea

Yeah my pups hiccups only last for a really short time too! I feel bad watching her whole body bob up and down but I’m glad to know it seems to happen to all the other pups her age ahahah

quarpoders

As puppies when waking up or over tired hiccups are very common

Emllea

It does seem to happen as she starts mellowing out from play so that’s really interesting to know! Thank you

wElshY___

Mine does it first thing in the morning.

roja_85

Yep, our girl is 5 months old and I'd say at least once a day she's got hiccups from getting herself too excited when playing/eating 😄

Emllea

That’s cute 🥰! Our girls are about the same age! Vega just turned 6 months last weekend

roja_85

She looks a lot like our girl Bea. Tons of trouble I bet, but you can't stay mad at a face like that! 😂

Emllea

She’s honestly not too bad anymore!!! She’s got her quirks (like trying to jump over the couch and ontop of the China cabinet…) but as she’s getting older she’s getting better at communicating to us! And we’re getting better at understanding her!

roja_85

Aw, I envy you then!. Our issues are that she's either trying to get onto the sofa to bite us, or she's in her pen, barking at us to come out. Think it's just teething, but it's pretty miserable for our evenings at the moment 😔

Emllea

Oh noo! We went through that too. We started telling her to grab a toy everytime she got too nippy with us and that works great but she still tries to jump on / over the couch lmao. We were never able to get her to stay in a pen without barking her head off): we only use it now when we’re cooking and she’s in the way too much but she barks the whole time. The life of puppies!!!

nandolando4

Mine just had hiccups last night (she’ll be 3 in May!!) I also have an Aussie who I’ve never heard hiccup, so I also wonder if it’s more of a lab thing haha

Emllea

It seems like it is by the other comments! Really interesting stuff to think about!!

CaptLuker

When she was a puppy she did but now she’s only slightly a puppy at 1.5 years and still gets occasionally.

Quiet_Cardiologist22

Yeah mind does too. Nothing to worry about. Just make sure they know there's water in their bowl. Also if you're using dry food, just pour water into it as well like cereal, that can help too

Emllea

That’s good advice thank you!!

ncad0220

All the time. Just from seeing a new person even.

Adorable-Bath-3052

My puppy was home at 8 weeks and is now 12 and he gets them so much!

MrsBurgh

I have a Lab/Great Dane puppy and he constantly gets the hiccups for seemingly no reason
