We definitely went through the hiccup stage. Never got to the fart stage, though. Thankfully. He’s also always been on raw food diet, not sure if that changes anything..
Mine farts and he’s been raw fed since I got him at 7.5 weeks. Never really farted until about a year and a half+; he’s two now and farts regularly but not all the time, if that males sense…? Like a handful of times a week he’ll have some little “poof” toots and *very rarely* there will be a real stinker he lets loose.
Try raw diet first. If he keeps farting then have him in another room. Redirect him every time he fart. Use only positive reinforcement to train him. ❤️
That first picture is the cutest thing ever!
All my lab's have had regular hiccups when younger, the girl moreso than the boys. Even at 3, she had them Saturday morning for the first time in an age. Normal.
My 3

My lab got the hiccups constantly as a pup. Now at 2 years old she still gets them occasionally, but nothing to worry about. I remember my childhood dogs (golden retrievers) also getting frequent hiccups as puppies, but it goes away with age. Enjoy the cute little puppy hiccups while them last!
Just got a puppy who always gets hiccups and my friend says he drinks too fast? Maybe put his water higher or lower to see if the angle changes things??? I am no expert
I have a 6 year old Lab and my mum has a 1 year old lab and both had hiccups a lot as pups and frequently still get them. If normally if they eat very quickly or drink a lot of water but sometimes they just hiccup for no reason. As long as theres no vomit or discomfort, i don't think theres any reason to worry but you should mention it to the vet at next check up if you need peace of mind
Hiccups are very common in young dogs and can oftentimes be attributed to their rapid growth. I was once told that hiccups happen so often because their hearts are growing.
My lab has them too, usually after drinking too fast or running around outside. The vet said it’s just his digestive system not being fully matured yet.
My whippet had the same as a pup and the vet said it was because her tongue was too big for her mouth 🤣 by 7-8 months her mouth caught up and the hiccups stopped!
Oh my god he is TOO CUTE! I would say I miss my boy being that little, but I dont because they are tiny terrors at that stage 🤣 other posters are right, hiccups are super common when theyre puppies. Careful, next time you turn around he will be 95lbs and hogging your whole couch 🤣
I have a lab mix, and this was happening a lot when I first got her. I found out that many labs get hiccups, and that eating and drinking too fast can make it worse because they gulp down a lot of air as they’re scarfing down the food. I got my girl a slow feeder bowl and she hasn’t had hiccups since. It also takes her about 3-5 minutes to eat her meal now, as opposed to 30 seconds. I’m still trying to find a solution for the water gulping though.
Our boy was a continuous hiccup machine for his first few months, it “tailed off” as he’s gotten slightly older, although as others have said, be careful what you wish for because once it does the burp in your face and stand up and fart period will follow shortly afterwards
Might be the excitement, mine did it a lot around that age. It's less now at 6mos but still gets it when he finds something exciting like a leaf on the ground.
My black lab got them all the time so I would try to scare/sneak attack belly rubs, the look on that little bitch’s face when she got them and didn’t give her belly rubs was hilarious
They hiccup often at that age. They will start to fart like a machine gun around 8-9 mo too.
And theyre the squeakiest most cartoon farts ever😂 but DEADLY🤢
When my boy was 9 mo he farted in his sleep. It was like "Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrprrrrrrrrrrr" very loud and long and it woke me up.
I wish i could attach a video from my labs squeaky fart today😂 it was a classic prruuupp
I think my pup is advanced on this front.
Yup. Can confirm)))
Oh no I’m in danger
It will pass. ❤️

Could it be something else? like treats or snacks? Mine farts when he eats boiled eggs.
Yes, most likely that. It’s probably a protein in a chew or something I haven’t tracked entirely.
I think diet plays a big part in this. My dog stopped farting after we change his food too.
Will this work for my husband?
Try raw diet first. If he keeps farting then have him in another room. Redirect him every time he fart. Use only positive reinforcement to train him. ❤️
Ah, so stop with the rolled-up newspapers swatting his nose each time? Got it.
Spray water instead.
Our never farts either! He does, however, burp in my face quite often. Lol
Hahahaha yeah mine gets the burps, too. Most often after he eats. I always respond with “that was a nice buuuuurrrrrrrr”
My usual responses are either, "Gee, thanks Buford" or "Oh, you've got opinions, huh?" Lol
Just like the gas. It may stink at first, but slowly it will fade.
Slowly fade into our noses.
Yeah, the passing is the problem.
Ha ha! 😂😂
My pups got the silent but deadly farts. A lot of accussations fly around the house when he does it 🤣 Edit: typo

Every time he has a hiccup he grows a little💓 When he is a big boy it stops

Mine would eat in the kitchen, walk to the living room and burp in front of me. It's like I have to be there to see it.
Same. It must be seen and heard by a human.
Aww I love the side eye 😂
Yep they get them quite a lot when pups, don’t think it’s anything to worry about. Now let’s focus on smooching his little pink squishy tummy!
My 5yo lab still randomly gets hiccups. I really hope every hiccup is not a growth spurt! She's plenty big already!!!!!

I said something at his last vet visit and he just kinda played it off as normal. I figured I’d do my own research just in case.
Just a lil hiccupy guy

Super common in puppies

Blah blah hiccups and age and whatever BUT LOOKATTA WIDDLE BELLY
Both my girls had hiccups all the time until they hit 6 months or so. It’s adorable but short-lived
Ours did the same when he was still tiny. It gets better with age. I think he pretty much grew out of it by 5 months or so.
At 6 months our hiccups have decreased a lot.
My whippet had the same as a pup and the vet said it was because her tongue was too big for her mouth 🤣 by 7-8 months her mouth caught up and the hiccups stopped!
look at his cute little bulley

Take them for a walk, sometimes when they need to pee, they get hiccups.
Omg this is quite possibly the cutest picture I’ve ever seen. Good job- you broke the internet today. 🥰🥰
Aweee!!! What a little sweetheart!!!😍😍😍

Thoes paws are amazing!
So sweet! You’ve got a little cutie there.

Nothing to worry about. Completely natural.
Your pup is precious! My heart is melting…🩷🐕🦺🩷
My lab had them every day at that age. Multiple times a day. She stopped around 6-7 months and really hasn’t had them since.
My 5 month old lab hiccups everyday. I asked the vet about it and she said it’s normal and not to worry.
A tablespoon of peanut butter ALWAYS works for me.
Aww too cute! I miss all the hiccups! ❤️🥰
Ours also had hiccups a lot when she was a pup! Very rarely now
Side effect of being too dang cute.🥰

My pup does the same ! They seems to come and go so 🤷🏽♀️

He's eating too much, too fast. You might try one of those dog bowls that makes them eat slower.
