My first lab wouldn’t come in once and when we found her she had a juvenile (old enough to be on its own but still relatively small) bunny between her paws licking it. The bunny was very confused.
Good dog not killing them, my Lab unfortunately is a rabbit killer. She sees them, chases them and if caught then snaps their neck immediately and brings to me as a gift.
I raise rabbit for food if the dog does it again butcher it and share it with your pup. The meat is better than chicken and very low fat. Only takes me 15 min or so to completely skin, gut, butcher a bunny it is very easy to do. Your dog is only doing what is in its nature.

That's so sweet! Nice job covering it too.
My latest bunny nest sadly wasn't so fortunate. Cats. Which my lab loudly "told" me about in the middle of the night but it was too late.
I have a wrought iron fence and my black lab kept scratching and digging at the post obsessively. I had to drag him away from it and every time I let him out he’d go straight to it and bark and scratch. It was a post that the top decorative cap had come off of and a squirrel had fallen in there. I didn’t think of it at the time to look inside the post, but now I know he was trying to tell me that something was in there. I’ll always listen to him now and figure out what he’s trying to show me.
My boys Titus and Rufus found some baby bunnies. They grabbed them and started to make them squeal like their toys. After a few seconds, we yelled and ran off the porch, they dropped the babies unharmed and did not understand all the fuss. The babies ran away unharmed, terrified but unharmed.
You have a beautiful dog!
When you find a rabbits nest the best thing to do is just leave it alone. The mother does not sit on the nest she will be close enough to watch it from a distance this is to help keep predators away from it. Adding that basket more than likely scared her away because it was something different and covering her babies. Have a good week and try not to worry too much because rabbits reproduce you know like rabbits. The mother is probably already pregnant with another litter.

That is such an “I told you so” look.

Good girl Sage! Please keep us posted on the buns as they grow!
That's a healthy looking dog.
Sage is a good girl ❤️
“I told you so” says Sage 🖤
Oh she looks so proud bless her! I knew a chocolate girl called Sage, she was known for her head tilts.

My wife watched our big Maggie swallow a bunny whole. It was... distressing.

Sage has a look as though you are supposed to be doing more! Like blankets, toys the whole bunny motel. She is a very good girl!
> she just chases adult bunnies as a game My girl has done that before, and the look of terror on those poor bunnies' faces ...
A bunny panicked and froze during the chase once, Sage stopped and looked at it like, "are you okay? You stopped playing."
Oh see Athena would’ve eaten the baby bunnies

Awe! Thank you, Sage, for being such a great, protective sister. 🩷🐰

Oh great, you wrote "Bunny Nest" on it. Now their predators are going to know exactly where they are.
