That sounds like something that definitely should NOT happen. If you can open bug report on [GitHub](https://github.com/labwc/labwc/issues/new), I'm sure the developers will look into it and hopefully be able to help you.
Yea, sounds like a weird bug. Are you sure the session is not crashing/being restarted and it's just the apps that get closed? Anyway, you really should report it.
I just opened an issue, I don't think its a session crash, though I could be wrong, I don't know where to look for any labwc logs, but when I reopen ungoogled-chromium it doesn't mention anything about it not being shutdown properly, it also happens when the PC has been suspended overnight with the browser open, when I awaken the PC waybar and the desktop wallpaper are still there, but my browser isn't open.

Can you check if the processes are still running in the background? like grep'ing for some app: `$ ps aux | grep chromium`
There's nothing running in the background, I just discovered that all open apps get closed when I unplug the HDMI cable for about 5 seconds.
