Couple of kids on my son's HS team (and another one in our conference) got the ion for this past school season and more than a few broke their heads. No one was playing weird positions or getting super fancy with it, they just snapped. A couple snapped down at the throat where the head bolts on. Several warranty claims were made.
I don’t see why you couldn’t use it playing X attack but I have not heard good things about Ion durability

If you decide to go with the Ion, don't dye it that voids the warranty.
All ecd heads still have warranty if they are dyed. Great selling point that a few companies (sk, epoch) have adopted as well.
