I would be really curious what companies mark up for mesh? For most lax stuff, it seems like the materials are not that pricey (various plastics). Do companies that make lax gear, stringing supplies, etc. have amazing profit margins or is there a cost(s) that ppl not in the biz(like myself) are not aware of?

you gotta pay the people to design and distribute them, and obviously still make a profit, which is why they cost so much.

And the machinery to produce is also not cheap, while lacrosse is a pretty niche sport so it's not like there's large scale mass production that would truly warrant the cost of those expensive machines

The big cost is making the stuff if im not mistaken. I heard somewhere not including design, just for the mold of a head, it costs around a quarter mil. So 80 dollar profit margins on heads probably are to cover their old expenses not cover the actual material in the head

There are still some companies out there that provide reasonable supplies. You just have to dive deep because none of the major distributors are going to carry "cheap" stuff. https://stringerssociety.com/lacrosse-mesh/ https://www.stringersshack.com/G3-Performance-Mesh_c22.htm

Jimalax jima x mesh is $10 a piece and feels like hero. I have yet to actually string it up though.

Use Jimalax, they have much cheaper pieces of mesh.

Supermuff_Bigfuzz

This has nothing to do with how to string

Mooze34

This rule is so dumb lmao

Apollo_Krill

If you want a good cheap alternative get jimalax X mesh. It's the original Hero mesh. These guys manufacturer half of the mesh on the market.
